Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes gameplay demo

Cloth physics? That was during the (in-game) cutscene...

It says on the trailer that this will be for 360/PS3. Not next gen. I believe it. Maybe a slight downgrade will happen? Doesn't really matter. I think a lot of people are just being fooled by the rain and some nice looking effects.

Anyway, this game looks great. The open world aspect will really make it shine. And if there's an online mode... fuck. Day 1.

Hoping this is the Metal Gear that finally makes it click for me. Long as they keep all the weird stuff out of it. The first box I see him crawl under; it's gonna kill it for me.

I am 100% sure the box is in. It is a Metal Gear signature and is even their 25th anniversary logo.... I love the 'weird stuff' that Kojima puts in. It is part of what makes his games unique.
As long as he doesn't go overboard with the stuff then I am all for it (keep it at MGS1 levels, please... and not MGS4 level of over-the-top-ness).

Remember this photo. Remember when this pic dropped most people were saying this was PC, next gen and Xbox could not run it like that.

Ubisoft made lots of people eat crow.

Look at Ground Zeroes. It will happen again on console.

The Chaos Theory vibe is really interesting. I swear I thought I was watching a next-gen version of Chaos Theory's Sam moving around during this gameplay demo.

I want to play a game where you team up as Snake and Snake and Raiden and you can do 3 person coop high fives and talk about the Cowboys score

Army of Two: Three: Four-2

It's a cutscene, though, so the animation could be entirely pre-made, just like they did on the PS2.

Unlike many Western devs, KojiPro aren't ashamed of using graphical tricks/hacks which only work within the constraints of a specific scene/environment/level instead of broad systems which can be used everywhere. Their PS2 games were entirely built around such techniques.
Yep that's what I like about KojiPro, their attention to details, little details specifically is unmatched !

Love the way he gets back to his feet.

If the boxes killed it for you, I wonder how you'd react to some of the finer points in the MGS saga, like Ocelot having Liquid Snake's arm grafted onto his body, which caused Ocelot to become possessed by Liquid's spirit. Or Liquid's ramblings about 'protecting the genome soldiers because my genes tell me to do so since the soldiers are clones of Big Boss and thus my brothers and sisters, but I'm still gonna kill you, BROTHER, because you stole all the good genes', a boss that shoots bees out of his mouth (these bees are conveniently living inside his body), nanomachines everywhere or Big Boss's 'zero becomes one' monologue.

I just realized, this would have to be multiple discs on 360, right? (Not trolling, seriously.)

Depends on whether they go the same route as MGS4. I believe the vast majority of the space MGS4 needed was for uncompressed audio, and about an hour of pre-rendered video. Almost every cutscene in that game was in-engine, so there weren't many huge video files to eat up space.

Then again, MGS4 wasn't an open world game, so I really have no idea.

Metal Gear!?

Release PS4 or Xbox 720 already. Hell, I might get a GTX 670 just for this. It depends what happens first, next gen Sony/MS systems or the game comes out way before those next gen systems, thus I will buy a new GFX card then.

I got goosebumps when the player control starts! Hail to Kojima!

ps. It totally bugged me that the bars seemed wide enough for the kid to slip through.

Given the production values that go into the audio alone, yes. Or they just compress the shit out of it.

Yeah. I'm assuming 3 based on the fact it'll be heavy in the audio/cinema area AND it's open-world. Could be 4 depending on how big the world is, exactly.

i watched the trailer on my tv (x360 youtube app) and it was unlike anything i've ever seen. Kinda like the first time you saw Battlefield 3 on a high end pc, but even more convincing / impressive.

Obviously running on a high end PC, still the lighting and some of the materials are just incredible. They probably have some sub-surface scattering going on for skin, because that's by far the most realistic skin (and teeth) i've ever seen in a game. The part where Snake climbs onto the helicopter and his face is lit from various light sources as he flies away is simply unbelievable. A lot of stuff from this trailer is.

Impressive. 'Industry shocking' wasn't an exaggeration.

Also, the intro was beautifully directed.

just when you start doubting the Kojima...hype ^52213

online or not it's a first day purchase for me, the game is just otherworldly. GOTY no doubt.

Because you're going to want to play the game the way it looked in this demo, if not better by the time it comes out. No way the PS3 or 360 can do this game justice with it's old hardware.[/QUOTE]

I can't wait that long, I'll just pick up a copy for PS3 and then again for the PS4 when it's out.

That's a possibility.

Assuming the PS3/360 versions release in 2013 some time but before the next generation consoles (except the Wii U since it's not in the trailer) release, there is also the possibility that the next generation versions will be the Substance version of the game, possibly with more content as the newer versions have had in the past.

Looks hot. Never really paid any attention to the MGS story. I don't know who the kid or the guy with messed up face are, but if the game plays similar to previous MGS games, I'm sold.
