Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes gameplay demo

Late 80s? Likely the game takes place about then. We don't know his exact age but we know he was a child soldier during the 80s. Meaning he was born early 80s (I wouldn't go back as far as the 70s because that is when Snake was born)

Quite likely Raiden could be in this game, he is about the right age

Could even be Snake. We don't know the exact year besides being the 80s due to the Walkman

Again, you guys can stop the speculation who the boy is. Kojima and translator already confirmed it's "CHICO".

Anyone knows what this heli model is called?

Have been searching the web for the last hour and can't find the exact model. Looks similar to the Mil Mi-28 Havoc but it's not identical.

Its a modified version of the Havoc.

Id guess they bastardized the Hind and the Havoc to create this.
Its a Havoc aesthetically but functions like a Hind.

Its got all the hard edges of the Havoc, even the same gun, then the passenger compartment and i guess engines seem to be derived from a Hind.
The front nose is missing the protrusion of the havoc im not sure why probably just aesthetics.

Considering Big Boss has the capability of constructing giant robots from the remains of other giant robots, this seems fitting.

What could be the reason then?

From my experience, it's probably because it's not there at all yet or simply that it's not in a state where it can be shown. This isn't meant to be a slight against KojiPro and their abilities to construct a working and enjoyable AI.

That works so well with the trailer actually:)

I think he isn't burned, I think his body had started to decompose. He was then brought back to life somehow.

WHAT, the game likely takes place no later than 4 years after PW, at most.

Why is it that every time a trailer is released for MGS, people make GIANT leaps instead of accepting what is being shown?:p

Yeah. I'm starting to believe they just came up with that the way you said. There is nothing exactly like that in reality.

Oh good, more pontificating on soldiers without a country. This theme has not been buried over the course of 5 games already.

Looks pretty.

I'll wait to see if they can handle the move to the open-world set-up without it being a clunky mess.

read this thread this morning after waking up, another poster made a good point about how many things Kojima Pro are faking in this trailer. Fake dynamic cloth movement, weak rain, etc etc. They pretty did same thing with MGS2 back on PS2.

Really great catch.

Think of Peace Walker as flattering to his age, there's not a huge difference except for the extreme close ups with stark lighting.

There is a significant difference, some orange hues that make his hair look browner don't change that.

Why should I rule out PWs rendition of big boss as simply flattering? Nothing suggests that at the moment?

Because his CG render already looked older than his in game model. Seems like the other way round this time, heh.

His hair is definitely greying (as it was in the Peace Walker CG), but it doesn't look like the front close up most of the time.

I don't really have faith after the way MGS4 was initially teased as an open battlefield where you could help any PMC you wanted to.

I'd rather see it be done over the entire course of a game than this sort of thing being sequestered to one section of the game. But again, I'd need to see it to believe it. KojiPro have been masters of bullshit hype (in the past, at least) when it comes to overpromising their entire games to be something that's merely a small portion of their game -- and then even that small portion doesn't fully deliver on what they're hyping.

During darkness pupil dilates to allow more light for an optic nerves, dilation also reduces optical quality of an lens allows us to see imperfections/lens effects.

Ya, I know. I was the one that said we can see that stuff with the naked eye. Or should I say... Solid Eye!

I dl'd the original 2-part file, and it worked fine for me. Thank you.

First time I caught little details like the rats in the fields, and the Chico confirmation.

Gaf is going to melt when x360/ps3 footage makes an appearance (which Konami is probably going to delay the most they can...).

I think it's easy to get overhyped by the open world promise. Even portable ops had pretty huge and open levels for an MGS game. I think this will be similar to that but with much greater variety and interactivity in the arenas.

And then there's the chance there will be amazing rain soaked opening which is let down by the rest of the game set on an oil rig on the back of a giant turtle or something.

I think people are going to be disappointed, since from the bad quality trailer you could already tell some jags and dithering, mgs4 was running in sub HD so I don't know about the image quality for this, unless they use bullshots. People will nitpick on the textures quality, etc.

Indeed it does. I'm having a really hard time believing this is how MGSGZ is going to look on PS3, especially having watched the HQ version.

Again, is this something specific to PS3? Or people are refering to PS3/360?

I have both and I don't believe any can handle this game as it was shown.

Lord Kojima said that the PS3 version will look similar to the video. That's also the only platform-specific thing that was said in the entire conference so it's all pretty vague.

I have a feeling PS3 will end up being the lead version but we will see.

This looks fantastic, but there's zero reason the PS3 couldn't handle this.

If this was PS4, I'd be disappointed. I'm expecting a greater leap for next gen.

It looks graphically in-between the two generations in my opinion, but I'm sure the PS360 will be able to run this pretty decently.
