Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops TGS 06 Trailer

Still amazing that they're able to pull that off on a portable. Can't wait for it, the story looks like its goign ot be really good also.

Psycho Mantis?!

Seems like it will be worth it for the story. I especially liked when Snake said "I'm not going to live my life like The Boss." And who is the Ninja this time around? Seems like some kid was raised to be that way (Raiden vibes).

i hadn't realized how much i want to see more of big boss's story before outer heaven -- i hope it's up to the standards of the proper mgs games. the comic book cutscenes look pretty neat.

It does and will, but they've changed some trivial yet cannonical information from the first two Metal Gear games (the msx ones), mostly timeline stuff. Oh, and Big Boss telling Snake's his father.

This is going to be the reason I buy a PSP. I was a little disappointed by Snake's words. I always wanted him to say "I was loyal to a true patriot" or something like that in reference to The Boss, but being true to himself was almost as good, I guess. That's all that the Snakes (Solid, Liquid, Solidus, Naked) have ever been about. It was really awesome to see a young Colonel Campbell.
The only two people from the last official FoxHound unit that are alive at this point are Psycho Mantis, Decoy Octopus, Revolver Ocelot, and Liquid Snake (who'd be about 2 years old, unless his advanced aging kicked in at an early age, but I doubt it). I want to see more oldschool characters, though! Ugh, this game is going to be painfully awesome. Downloadable version, STAT (edit:n/m).

The whole graphic novel style for the cutscenes sure is an interesting take on the whole metal gear saga. The ingame footage looks good too.

I can't wait to try out the "Build An Army" feature or whatever it is. Call me a Strategy/Suikoden/whatever nut, but I could see myself spending an insane number of hours with it.

Holy crap that looks amazing! I need to get a PSP. @_@ The music rocks. The cutscene art rocks.

WOW

Btw, is it me or do some of the areas look like MGS 1 areas? There's that elevator in there that reminds me of the elevator to the Raven fight. There is also an area in the trailer showing some kind of cold room with boxes all over. That also reminds me of the Raven room.

Yeah, there will be a MGS2 DGN (based on the comics out in the US.) coming out before MGS4.
It's supposed to focus more on Snake behind the scenes of MGS2.
Well, that's what I heard on HIDECHAN! Radio.

the control better be good......

Do you remember how badly winning eleven control was .......?

anyway! I have faith in Kojima Pro.!

That WAS very cool. The voice acting adds a lot to those cutscenes too. The DGN was very slick, but the lack of voice acting really hurt the overall feel. I'm glad we are getting a new story (well, sort of) told through these cutscenes with full voice.

The game itself looks very nice too, though obviously not up to PS2 level. I just hope the game controls well, runs well, and offers a good sized single player mode. I'm not really that interested in multiplayer, to be honest.

That looked really good. Never played an MGS game before... I'd like to get this when I get a PSP but I have a feeling I should play the other MGS games first. :/

Release date: December 12 Japan (US Q4 2006; Europe Q1 2006)

Limited Edition and ÂżPSP + MGS Portable ops pack in Japn?

Story and presentation is top-notch, as always.

but the framerate is kind of iffy, If possible i'll be playing this on the hacked 333mhz mode.

edit: Not sold on the Ashley Wood cutscene, it doen't always sync well.

Finally a good game for the PSP!! lolz am i rite guys?? :lol

Is it wrong that i'm more excited for this game than MGS4? Maybe its cause i'll be playing this first, or maybe its the English voice acting.... maybe i'm racist?

I'm torn on the art for cutscenes. It looks really nice but its a kind of break of tradition for me. That said, I'm gonna have to play this. MGS3 was my favourite game of last gen. Big Boss >>>> Solid Snake.

And that means I'm gonna have to buy a PSP again! I knew it was inevitable :lol

Trailer actually gave me shivers. No kidding.

This game seems way more emotionally charged than MGS4 right now, and I almost wish this story was being told instead of Solid Snake's.

Absolutely love the comicbook cutscenes now with added voice. All this and I still dont own a PSP yet. Hrrrrm.

Yep, same here. I really hope the single player mode plays just like regular MGS game in all aspects of it. If that's there, I'm there too :D

I'm not a fan of the PSP's controls either (understatement of the year!), I hope it doesn't distract from me enjoying the game.... how f*cking frustrating would that be. Gotta trust the team will work it.

Hmm or wonder what the chances of a game being called MGS Portable Ops has of getting a PS2 home console port are? >_<

EDIT: Haha OMG I just clicked! Portable Ops...... PS2 port confirmed!
