Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops TGS 06 Trailer

As awesome as this looks, I'm not buying a PSP for one title. So yes, a PS2 port please (although that's not very likely)

Come on, the PSP has tons of great titles. You just aren't giving them a chance for some reason. Seriously.

Of those released only games like LocoRoco, VP: Lenneth and Ghosts 'n Goblins can grab my interests, and that's not exactly tons. Plus I have more than enough still to play on PS2 and to a lesser extent DS, so it's gonna take a long time for me to even consider getting a PSP

I like what they're doing with the recruiting feature with this game. Basically, they're gonna exploit the IP addreses from wi-fi spots around the world and you can connect to a wi-fi spot to recuit a specific character (based on that IP address). Sounds pretty awesome

I'm hoping this would also happen.

I bought the PSP because of Tekken DR.
Even though it is quite good, it's not as smooth or satisfying as the arcade or 28" progressive scan TV.
And the diagonals.... :<

I thought diagonal controls are perfect for a tekken game. Is the PSP d-pad that bad? :( I guess that d-pad mod is necesary, I guess.
 
Another amazing MGS:PO trailer from Kojima. I can't believe he's gonna force me to buy a PSP and a PS3. Bastard.

I'm getting a Max Payne vibe from the cutscenes, and that's a damn good thing. :)

Is this confirmed? Games usually don't come out on Tuesdays. There are games coming out on the 7th and the 14th so that seems kinda fishy.

And is the big black box an LE edition like MGS1-3 got? If so...holy shit I'm there :O
 
Anyone else got another direct download link? The yousendit one is exceeded.

Edit: Nevermind, found one...this game looks awesome, I'm as excited for this as MGS4 just because this seems more concrete, hopefully it comes out here in Nov/Dec if it's out in Japan by December supposedly. I don't mind the artwork cutscenes and it's great to have voiceacting in a handheld MG finally. Love the glimpse of bosses and storyline as well.

First off: looks amazing, can't wait to see the rest of the story told and to build a squad. That said, I guess I'm the only one a bit put off by the cutscenes, in particular the acting for Big Boss. Repeating the Boss's lines seems totally expected and the acting a bit over the top. Something tells me Kojima has little to do with the story and voice acting and if he does then he's not putting his all into it. Still utterly sold on it, might even be GOTY material, just not totally pleased with the cutscenes presented so far.
 
Don't forget Syphon Filter - that is a very similar sort of game, also with great graphics, and already available (well, maybe not in Europe).

The greatness of Syphon Filter has me worried about MGS. Syphon Filter pretty much perfected 3rd person action controls on PSP.

MGS is going to have a very different control scheme. I'm worried they are going to mess it up, but tragically mess it up in an even better game.

Imagine having a game that's at least 4x better than Syphon Filter Dark mirror (i used a crazy formula to reach that figure), except its trapped inside an unwieldy control scheme! It would be a fate worse than death!

I think it's very likely, considering the resources they seem to be putting into it. If sales don't meet Konami's expectations, why not do a port? I'm sure they could make a mint with a $20 release down the line ala GTA LCS.

if you did some cursory reading about this game, you'd see that it would not be possible on PS2.

No, I don't like portable gaming. If I'm out of the house I'm doing something, not lounging around. And when i'm at home, why do I want to play on the small screen? Especially with such a beautiful story? Argh!

Btw, does this seem about the closest MG to MGS1 in tone and style, or is it just me? Which is a good thing. MGS1 holds a special place for me.
