I'm about 6 hours in. THIS GAME IS FUCKING ADDICTING. Peace Walker 2.0 is right on the money. I love going into an area and just not doing the main mission and Fulton everything back. Scouting for good recruits then figuring out how to get them alone so i don't alert others. My one gripe with the game is the character spoilers. Basically when you start a mission it says "starring" and list every character that will appear in that mission. So of course it will say venom snake but then it could say other characters that you haven't even met yet!
If this is truly Peace Walker 2.0 looks like I might not enjoy it as much as I thought.
I just did a mission and it was amazing, ignore mejawzpause said:I'm only about 7 hours in but I'm finding the missions a little bit repetitive, hopefully it'll get better
Fuck, think my game is bugged. Side op 12 is checked off but keeps popping back up as active (white/not greyed out) every time a go back out to the chopper.
I think I've got the same bug. Side op 12 is the one where yourescue a female prisoner, yeah?

So does the ps4 version of PP look better than the ps4 version of GZ?
Quoting self, can anybody please answer this?
Yes, it does.
It's a lot sharper, in all aspects.
Just read the first couple pages of this thread. I find it so hard to believe that there isn't much story/cutscenes in the game and its all left to cassette tapes. It's a huge bummer. I'm hoping there's more cutscenes as you get closer to the end of the game.
Atleast the gameplay is great.
Do the story missions actually tell a decent story or are they all just sneaking around and tranqing guards and disabling shit and gathering resources? Or is there more to it? I'm just seeing a bunch of missions that seem pointless
If this game trully has a bare bones story that is a big fail on Kojima's part in my opinion. They should have looked to Witcher 3 as an example of how you can have a big world but also a large and seriously compelling story. I believe that some of the previous games, namely MGS4 went overboard with the cutscenes, but to react by stripping back the story entirely seems ridiculous for an MGS game. Hopefully I am missing the mark though.
A bunch of missions are pointless from a story standpoint. The vast majority, I'd say. Maybe a third of the missions I've played so far are meaningful, and that's a generous third.
The gameplay's absolutely top tier, so it isn't so much of a problem, but the 1/3 that remind you you're playing a Metal Gear Solid game are amazing. And that 1/3, so far, comprise one of the better stories I've seen in a Metal Gear Solid game. Coherent, intriguing, strong characters etc.
Yeah. Tryimmediately assigning her and see if that fixes it
Thanks, makes me feel better. I'm super excited for the gameplay I was just hoping that the narrative would be woven around the missions more, like I think there could have been a happy medium.
Yeah, it's pretty disappointing. After the prologue this game turned into just one big side mission.

hmm... Konami's statements so far regarding FOBs and MB Coins have been pretty vague.
via Gamespot:
So you can't earn MB Coins in single player mode and you need those to invest in FOBs beyond the first one. My guess is that, other than paying real money, you earn MB Coins through online play and gathering resources through FOB invasions and the like.
Does anyone have any impressions from the online yet? MGO in MGS4 was so much fun and a great addition to the campaign.
Should I play Ground zero first?
I was planning too but phantom pain turned up early today. I'm just worried of missing the story (I've played all the other mgs numerous times).
Glad I finished Gears on xbox1 last night now!

It's a little bit.
No story spoilers, light structure 'spoilers' in tags (necessary to answer your question, but some might rather not know).
The main mission design is more inspired than most Ubisoft open world games. If you've ever played Splinter Cell Blacklist.main missions tend to take place in large, purpose built areas that feel ripped from a more linear game, like Blacklist.
The Side Opspopulate these areas with different objectives/guards. 'Return to this place but find an item (via interrogation, for example). It's similar to Ground Zeroes in that regard, but Side Ops exist in the world and don't need to be activated by heading to a menu or marker. They're, essentially, hundreds of busy-work activities that give you a reason to revisit areas. They're pretty good.
Objectives range from finding animals, to finding documents, to destroying vehicles, etc.
So, TL;DR, it's quite 'Ubisofty' in a sense, but all of core elements like level design and gameplay are so much better that returning to an area to do even something menial is a joy.
Are the first hours good enough to take your mind off of something that has ruined your day?
Thanks for the update. Will watch out. But "Chico is Quiet" is only 3 words?PC gamers watch out for spoilers, theres an ass posting links about updated minimal req but, the link goes to imgur with major spoilers in pure text, the first 4 words already are huge spoilers.

Absolutely, the prologue itself would be enough for all of that![]()
In all honesty, I think it might.
