Huh. Edge of Tomorrow is apparently based on a Japanese manga series. I would have never guessed!
"All you need is kill" is such a badass name, compared to "Edge of tomorrow".
I don't care how grammatically correct it is.
Solid Snake confirmed.

In hindsight I'm not too bothered by the amnesia, especially as we know he'll slowly regain his memory. I think it might even be a good thing, not just for new players but also in terms of resolving some of the canon headache for older players.
If you think about it a lot of this game revolves around Big Boss having to confront the mistakes of the past... and I don't mean just Ground Zeroes, Peace Walker & Operation Snake Eater but perhaps even more importantly the character development in the timeline that Big Boss never talks about like the disbandment of FOX (XOF) and creation of FOXHOUND, the Les Enfant Terribles Project (Eli), how Big Boss and Ocelot went from a friendly rivalry to full blown allies, the formation of the Patriots and the clash in philosophy between Zero and Big Boss (Cipher/Big Boss's dream of "Outer Heaven") that set Big Boss on the path to drifting around the world as a mercenary and meeting Kaz to create MSF together. Even how this Skull Face character claims to know Big Boss and Zero before all that, but we as the people playing as Big Boss are pretty much in the dark about who he is.
What do all those things have in common? Well, they were all kind of ignored in Peace Walker until the secret Chapter 5 ending where it was like "Oh yeah, that Big Boss vs. Zero stuff". I think I understand why Kojima did it, he wanted a clean slate with PW where he could mostly ignore the baggage of what was established in Portable Ops/MGS4 but in the end it created more problems when he returned to it. You could chalk it down to Big Boss just not being open about these events to really address them, but the problem with that is it creates a disconnect between us and Big Boss when these things actually do unload on the story like they're going to in the Phantom Pain.
And again you could just say "Oh well play MGS4 then, Eva gives you the pieces you need to put together what happened between Snake Eater and Peace Walker" but that's exactly the problem right there which prevents this from being a coherent story to most people: it's a puzzle! I mean for goodness sake, a lot us aren't even certain if Portable Ops happened anymore... GameInformer when they sat down with Kojima couldn't figure out whether the LET project took place before Peace Walker or not and they weren't even sure if the Patriots had been fully formed already. Most of these events weren't a part of our journey with Big Boss in his games, they happened offscreen. I'm not saying it's wrong to have important plot elements happen offscreen but when these events are so personal to a character who isn't even open to talking about this part of his life or sharing his perspective, it just becomes confusing and harder for new players especially to connect with what is happening.
With Kojima's new storytelling method of having Big Boss talk even less so he's more in tune with the players actions, I was very worried about how all this would be portrayed. There was no way he was gonna have a sitdown with Kaz explaining his life story. But then you bring in a plot element like amnesia that while yes it is cliché, it puts Big Boss on the same level as the player who is also confused. Suddenly the puzzle going on in the minds of new players and old players alike is also a puzzle that Big Boss needs solving, and because we're Big Boss it gives us the opportunity to have this information be fed back to us or perceived through flashback (if that is what Kojima means by regaining his memories) and that provides the narrative with some much needed recontextualization from where it became so muddled and confusing.
When I really think about it, as long as it's not something like "Big Boss bumped his head, forgot all his life lessons in previous games and became an evil crazy character as a result" I'm all for this.

Shinkawa’s day-to-day work at Kojima Productions – much like his method – has scarcely changed over the years, yet he often feels that game producers overlook finer details when approaching design and characterisation.
He told me that Kojima is the other extreme, and that if anything, his obsession over detail has grown with each release. “He looks at every single wrinkle of each character, Shinkawa added. “He looks into details, but the first phase starts with my sketch, then modelling, then it considers a character’s actions before becoming a final piece.

Also, I am firmly in the camp that Hayter will make a surprise cameo as Solid Snake.

This is why Kojima is such a well respected game developer. He has a clear vision of a character in his head and he wants the final model to exactly look like that. He has such a passion for his job, much respect.
This scene does a good job of making people uncomfortable.
