So much emphasis on the year 1984. As if Kojima is trying to tell us something..It is the year of BB. Big Boss or Big Brother? I'm convinced it is of Big Brother. But big brother to whom? Naomi.

Nope, it was a conclusion I came to after watching the tin foil video. I was skeptical about the Gray Fox theory but after watching the new video they put out. I'm completely convinced.
Think about it, what other significance could a reference to 1984 have in MGS lore?

And one of the most logical too! If we take into account Philanthropy status as an outcast ("fringe") organization in MGS2, a more rugged Solid Snake using leftovers from his previous mission supplies, and also scrapped equipment from the government thanks to old friend's help, was a genius touch.

Because this prototype is from a version sculpted precisely after the character polygon demo model (well, the apparent likeness also depends on the high-quality of the prototype)!
This is one of the four sculptures that union creative (http://www.union-creative.jp/uc/index.html) announced at Wonder Festival 2014 [Winter] this past February, two for Raiden of MGR:R plus two more for Venom Snake of MGSV; each of the two versions of the character are one strictly based on the game model assets and another based on Mr. Shinkawa's character sheets and further input, so that in part explains the very close interpretation we are seeing on this prototype shown at Wonder Festival 2014 [Summer].
yeah, you can tell its based on the game model. i guess the down side to these is that they appear to be more of a statue as opposed to something posable.
Time to spice this thread up. I've been thinking about this a lot lately and I finally decided I would share it.
Please don't kill me like that "Gray Fox is Big Boss" guy GAF LOL
I am beginning to doubt that's Big Boss we are seeing in these trailers post-GZ. I believe this is another clone. In MGS1, didn't Liquid mention something about there being 8 clones? I don't remember him elaborating much on what happened to the other 5 we don't know about. It's the only thing that makes sense to me.
For example, how would BB end up with "debris" in his head when he didn't have it before he went into the coma? Besides, Kojima already made it clear that BB had only one coma. Unless there is a retcon pertaining to his coma, it had already happened. I doubt they'll change it too considering the secret tape at the end of PW with Kaz and you know who. So how can he be in a coma for 9 years if he had one already? It just doesn't add up.
Also, we see Venom Snake with Skullface at the end of this trailer, who is portrayed to be the antogonist of GZ. If that was the case, why would you be with the person responsible for your downfall? I doubt this has anything to do with BB seeking revenge against Zero.
Either we are being tricked into believing this is the real Big Boss or that really is him. I mean, this wouldn't be the first time Kojima has pulled a similar stunt (See: Playable Snake in the Big Shell). After all, MGS2:Subsistence had a mode that allowed us to swap character models.

Big Boss wasn't in a coma when LET happened. The coma line was added in the English localization for MGS1, while the Japanese script just says he was just sterile.

Even if he wasn't, Kojima said when we get to play it we will be like "Oh, that's what happened!". This statement alone is making me doubt he was really in a coma after what happened at the end of GZ.
I believe in MGS2 it was stated by Ames he was "a survivor of the Les Enfant Terribles project". I don't know if that was ever meant to imply he was one of the clones that was supposed to be aborted, and it was retconned or something, but that was what I assumed at the time until later games where it became clearer he wasn't even part of the same batch as Solid and Liquid and wasn't born from Eva. But at the same time, Solidus is definitely considered part of Les Enfant Terribles. Solidus even has a line in the game where he explains to Raiden "we brothers are called Les Enfant Terribles, cloned from our father with the ability to reproduce conveniently engineered out".
At the time this was pretty confusing to me but now thanks to Ground Zeroes' ending timeline we know the Les Enfant Terribles project lasted until after Solid & Liquid were born in 1972 and was only officially scrapped after 1976, so Solidus could have been born in between and still be considered part of the project.

I believe Solidus was born between 1974 and 1976. Placing his birth after that would make him to be extremely young by the time the Liberian Civil War began, even if his accelerated aging was there from the very beginning.
I think he was born in 1976, and then they cancelled the Les Enfants Terribles project, as they finally achieved what they wanted: A TRUE clone of Big Boss that would age a lot faster so the organization would have their icon back. No more use for the project after that.
Wouldn't be surprised if there were other clones in the game, maybe those zombie ninjas, who knows, although them running around and jumping would make them probably closer to Gray Fox in some weird way, and we know there's a sword-wielding character in the game (almost certain to be Gray Fox).
Fire Volgin looks more like a mix of characters. He has The Fury's fire, The Joy's horse, he's back from the dead (The Sorrow), and I guess he is scary and suffering, so The Pain and The Fear.

In regards to the clones, wasn't it stated that there were multiple clones but the only ones that were considered successful were Solid, Liquid, and Solidus? Which leads to my point, of "Those who don't exist" from one of the earlier trailers, you can see that each "solider from those who don't exist" are numbered on the forehead. As such, would it be possible to say that "those who don't exist" are the failed clones of Big Boss and are being kept alive via those black exoskeleton suits? Just my 2 cents

I've bought Solid Snake, Gray Fox, Solidus, Rising Raiden, MGS2 Raiden, and Liquid Snake -- with each one their quality has decreased while their price increases, those look terrible and I bet they'll be $90+.

This weekend I had a meeting to plan..my next album. I want to invite game composers to give me a song to record..and I want to release my concert last year as a CD..I want to have something new for fans once Sins of the Father comes out..and NO I still don't know when that will be! But want to be ready..
Well, finished Peace Walker. This ending is some kind of bullshit. The nuclear deterrence theme is pretty good, but all this Boss AI bullshit, I'm not buying... It almost smears the experience that MGS3 was.

Honestly, I love what they did with Raiden and don't want it to be written off as a side story plus the GZ side mission with Raiden was amazing..that can be the non-canon stuff for all I care

"The thematic importance of Raiden finding peace in MGS4, is also explained (and in a way that makes one detest MGRising even more!) "
This. So much THIS.
I absolutely LOVED Raiden's conclusion at the end of Metal Gear Solid 4. It felt like a real closure of his life as a soldier. It would be hard, but he would become a family man, free from war, free from killing. A new man, free from war as he and Snake talked about.
Then comes Rising, and not only Raiden goes back to his cyborg body, he goes back to killing human beings (Cyborg-fied, but still living, breathing humans). And they even have his Jack the Ripper persona come out again.
I consider Rising to be a great game on itself, but when put together with the other games in the timeline, it is completely stupid and ridiculous, and has no reason to exist. It completely ruins Raiden's relatively happy ending.
I enjoy the game, greatly, but thank goodness it is not canon.
