Anyone know the tuning on Rob's bass? He's using a 5 string when most of these songs are in standard.

I imagine it's just B-E-A-D-G. It doesn't really matter though, most bass players can easily play in virtually any tuning since there aren't any open chord shapes necessary on bass.

Edit: They also aren't in standard tuning, it's assuredly a half-step down for James's voice, but I imagine that Rob wouldn't need change his tuning anyways.

I always wondered what the Black Album would've sounded like if Flemming had his hands in it instead of Bob. Bob made it sound too commercial imo although that said, the Metallica train was in full steam ahead at that point in their career.

Simple, just get someone to play the black album down a telephone to you!

Oh well, I'm off to sleep. It's getting late here. Hope I don't miss anything super interesting like Dyer's Eve or Ride the Lightning.

If they did play dyer's eve Lars would just skip the double bass parts like he has been for years. You wouldn't miss much, the song loses a lot of aggression when that's missing.

I have no idea what you're talking about. The production on the Black Album is incredible. Listen to those drums.

It's the songs being commercial that made them sound commercial, not Bob Rock's production.

I love the crazy timing bits in wherever I may roam. They used to annoy the hell out of me til' I heard the song enough times to get it.

Ah, another one of the classics wheeled out.

Kirk's live renditions of the solo for this are rarely better than the album version. It always saddens me.

Learn from pink floyd's comfortably numb. A 5 minute extended solo would be fine with me!

Preach on, Preacher.

Oh man, I wish they pull out Blackened.

That is one song I wanna hear LIVE before I die.

I've seen three times and not a single Blackened. :(
