Metro: Exodus E3 Demo was Running on PC Comparable to Xbox One X Specs

No surprise here. Coming from an interview by Geoff Keighley:

Towards the end of the interview Geoff asks if the demo was running on an actual console, which wasn't the case. However, the PC's specs are 'close' to those of the Xbox One X.

I would assume most other demos were also captured on a PC as well, including the ACO demo.

The demo was an obvious vertical slice. It will look different when it comes out even on a GTX1180/Corei9 PC in 2018.

Does it really matter what platform it's running on when the whole thing is scripted / fake anyway? Looked like the entire thing was just concept / target footage, not actual gameplay.

I mean I trust the devs, both previous Metro games looked incredible. But this was clearly all fake and just used to announce the game.

The scripted elements, sure. But the visuals themselves? Learn yourself on some of 4A's wizardry, I wouldn't be surprised if the final product looked even better than this.

It depends. Some people don't like hearing this news because then it means what was seen might not match what they will play on their system graphically. Also, I feel like we are in an alternate reality where some high profile developers took all of the wrong lessons from the Watch Dogs 1 reveal and saw them as the right lessons.

I don't think you can get a CPU as slow as the Jaguar in any PCs nowadays. I am willing to bet that even 15 watts intel laptop CPUs are faster than that POS of a CPU. While the GPU is very capable, 60 FPS is nothing but a dream because of this bottleneck.

And why my money will be going into my PC.

I'm sure key set pieces will look as good if not better. But every game has the transitional/filler assets that just look mediocre.

The jump if graphics technology from Metro 2033 to Last Light. The expanding ambitions, that were dashed by the THQ sinking, has made regard 4A Games in equal stature to CD Projekt Red. These guys can and will deliver. It is obvious now that they are marching towards a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. experience if they only had the budget and critical acclaim.

I will definitely be there day one for Exodus.

not sure if that is a valid assumption
Microsoft has PC's and working Xbox One X running at E3
that is what they said about Forza Motorsport 7

i think this depends on the developer and how long they already have Xbox One X devkits

I think bigger news in that they are TARGETING 4k on Xbox even though during the conference they implied that it will run in native 4k...

I agree. Redux is one of the most accomplished remasters this gen.

Mmmmmm

This is almost always the case.

I'd be more concerned that the gameplay demo was clearly not gameplay.

My ex loved Metro but I never played it. Just watched. Looked as good as expected as a followup to Redux.

Super scripted looking tho. Especially the door part.

It looked actually cool, but it seems more like a tech demo, i doubt the final game will look like that, well maybe on PC. Reminded me of first Killzone demos on PS3.

Three animations from that video made me very skeptical:

-Running up to a door to desperately open it with no transition to a 'door opening' state
-Kicking the monster attacking him while climbing the ladder
-the big bear thing falling from the cliff

Make linear game. Success and money.

Make semi-open world game. More success and money.

Make STALKER 2 😀
