Doesnt the suit get completley fixed by rejoining with SA-X? Beyond that there wouldnt be any scars on Samus since they just cut away the power suit pieces and injected her with Metroid DNA.
No, it just turns orange.

Well, the Chozo Power suit is very complaint to change. I think that the Fusion suit design is supposed to reflect that Samus also carried within her the DNA of a metroid (which is why she was so susceptible to ice, iirc). The color scheme is somewhat similar to that of a metroid, and the talons are analogous to their mandibles.
Well I guess that makes sense now that I think about the different stages of Metroids; figured that about the mandibles too.

I was kind of excited to play as Fusion Samus in Brawl though MP3 came out later so I guess that's why they kept her traditional design

I was referencing that she was given Metroid DNA or whatever to kill the X. C'mon man, you are mr sarcasm/exaggeration and stuff.

I've slept a total of one hour and a couple minutes over the last 36 hours. It's probably why I'm not so good at picking that stuff up and why I'm hearing doors shut and voices and stuff right now.

Here. She mentions that her physical appearance was altered after parts of her suit was surgically removed, so I think the context of her statement implied that it meant her physical appearance with the suit on. The Chozo power suit has always been organically tied with Samus.
I see where you guys were getting. But I thought the metroid DNA cleared everything, and where did you guys get the tentacles thing.

Also my dirty mind always thought that the Metroid DNA side effects were Metroid teeth ticking out of Samus's vagina.

The talons on her arm. The Metroid DNA didn't clear everything, she changed further (new vulnerability to cold temperature).

But hey she might lose all the upgrades in Metroid V. :D

i love that subtle sadness in her eyes in the mp1 concept art, the careworn expression and her almost bony facial structure. she looks like she could be a bounty hunter. although i think they could make her look even less "pretty", even tougher - especially considering her backstory. i guess i always very much saw her as ripley, as a smart but tough motherfucker who just so happens to be a woman and not as a cute anime girl.

You know that a Metroid thread has hit it's peak when Vagina Dentata is brought into the conversation.

I read the Giant Bomb hands-on and.. um, didn't really like what I heard.

Automatic lock-on, recharging missile supply and health at any moment, tutorial level... what? Why?

SOUNDS ABOUT NORMAL TO ME

Wow, that sucks, welcome to current casualcore gameplay, Metroid. It'll probably still be fun, though.

Something tells me this still won't make the game sell amazingly, though.

But it gives the best sexual experience ever. Its like Samus is riding you and sucking you off at the same time.

And I know about the cold temperature and stuff, but I think she didn't actually change physically.

You know, in a way, Samus was always a Metroid, I've used that as my reasoning for why she's able to regain energy by killing enemies, the suit absorbs the remaining life energy from the corpses of the dead enemies

Galaxy 2 is...WOW!
Metroid oM..i think gameplay idea is really good, 2d-3d switch for better exploration is the natural evolution of the saga imo.
But the style looks too team ninja cool-generic to me, don't have the prime or metroid 1-3(my favourites) atmosphere.
Maybe it's just the screens, need some videos

Loved the impressions I read. Except the part about the voice work. Apparently it's abysmal. I hope there's still time to change that.

they're unlikely to re-record voice. too much money and time.

impressions sound interesting. i'm excited, if not fully convinced the change was for the better. i do think it was time to do something new with the series, though what i imagined in my head and what is turning out to be reality are a bit incongruous. but that's okay--what i envisioned for the next mario platformer wasn't SMG, but actually something far less interesting and creative.

tangentially, i thought starbuck from the BSG reimagining had a great hardened but still feminine look that fit perfectly with samus.

Well, maybe the voice in the demo is only a placeholder or something. I only suggested this because Red Steel 2 voices, for example, are very different from last year's build.

I was under the impression that the VA for Samus was good but that the minor parts were less impressive?

I dunno, I read in the Nintendo place people usually Go that everything is atrocious. If those guys are saying something like that, I'm worried.

Other impressions are less harsh on this, but I'm yet to see a hands-on calling Samus voice "good". :(

What a weird game to play - definitely not what I was expecting. It didn't feel like I was playing Metroid. Still, that rendition of the finale of Super Metroid was god tier.

I thought they said that Samus was still terrible, just not as mind-numbingly bad as the rest of the cast.

And this is why Nintendo should never, ever touch VA for Zelda. I have zero confidence they call pull of anything quality.

Well, he still said that Samus performance was "abysmal", which only shows how bad the rest is.

FWIW, IGN's hands-on was more positive (and I always take GoN's impressions with a big pinch of salt, positive or negative...)

Also, I hope they allow for multiple control methods in the game. From what I read I think the combo nunchuk + wiimote would be ideal.

Oh god, I just logged in and actually laughed out loud at the "Remember me?" box.

Nunchuck controls would be good, you could use pointer for aiming at enemies in 3rd person mode too and just press like, C to enter first person mode or something. D:

mmmh, I'm worried about that too, the isolation, the sense of opresion, don't appear right now =/

i hate to be a toastyfrog banana-rider, but if the man knows good games, and the man knows his metroid. from his preview:

In fact, that seems to define the entire game: Not a typical Metroid adventure, but faithful to the series' spirit in the same way that Metroid Prime was.

If Samus loses a lot of her abilities as per usual... regenerative health (when close to death) and missile replenishments won't be a big deal. Actually, there are plenty of games out today that use regenerative health or shields that are still very challenging... Uncharted 2 or the Halo games for example.

The automatic lock-on is a concern, but I imagine they'll negate that 'power' in one of two ways (possibly both):

- throw lots of enemies at you. This might make auto lock-on not quite precise enough, mean you have to dodge a lot, or pursue other strategies - such as going first person.
- throw enemies at you that have specific weaknesses, ie enemies from Prime that could only be attacked from behind, destroying metroids in ball form.

I'm sure it'll be fine. The new charge power bomb manouvre sounds cool. And the story stuff sounds awesome. "Mother. Time to go" makes me worry that the VA will be horrendously cheesy, but reading the internal monologues on IGN makes me think some of it will be quite well written too. The fan service certainly seems to be in abundance.

I hope we don't have to wait for Sakamoto's GDC keynote to get videos :(

Discussions about how manly Samus' design is? This is what we're left with when a trailer doesn't drop.

I read Jeff's GiantBomb demo impressions as well and I'm in the same boat as him. It definitely raises more questions than answers. I would have loved that it was "New Super Metroid Bros. Wii" though. :(

i wish they'd continue the story after fusion.

what's happening with the X? are they taking over the galaxy?

what effect is the metroid DNA having on samus? is she starting to crave sucking the life out of anything she meets? ;)

what of the space pirates? infected by the X parasite too?

She destroyed the only place where the X were including the infected pirates. What makes Metroid V so interesting is that by doing so Samus is now a fugitive of the Federation.

EDIT- the side effect of the metroid DNA is a vulnerability to cold

Well, she can suck the "life" out of me any day.

Anyway, this is probably the game that will finally make me buy a Wii.
