Metroid Prime: Federation Force Amiibo Support Revealed

"Gamers" downvoting stuff on youtube

l'll always find it hilarious that downvoting a Youtube video is now apparently an offensive and immature thing to do that's one step away from online harrassment.

Oh no they're using an option available to them and clicking "dislike" on something they dislike! These entitled manbabbys!!

Let's all buy this, guys! Let them show Metroid isn't dead!!

With our luck they'd interpret that as demand for Federation Force 2.

But for real though, if Nintendo could get some new blood in here for Metroid/Metroid Prime like they've done so with Splatoon and Zelda BOTW, maybe we could get these series back on their feet again. Relegate Tanabe and Sakamoto to the sidelines considering they've kinda gone off the deep end (to be fair Sakamoto hasn't touch Metroid in forever though).

Well said.

Don't forget "entitled."

Seriously, the dislike bar is there for a reason. If you're going to put something out there, people will have an opinion of it. If you don't like what you hear, improve, don't try to shift the blame *cough*Ghostbusters*cough*
... I do miss the days of the 5-Star rating though. At least there you had people that thought it was just "okay"

Okay, this looks just stupid. Like, what? The 'stealth' is literally hide in a gap in the wall then run out.

Why :(
It boggles my mind that games keep doing these forced stealth sections despite them being so loathed. Has there ever been a game where they actually added to the experience?

I guess when you get so angry at something you can read anything resembling dissent as a drive by shit-post.
"Dissent" requires an actual argument. Just own up to your shit-post.

Sakamoto and Tanabe have a produced a lot of successful games for Nintendo. They're not going to sideline them because a couple of their games were poorly received.

So what? Buy it or leave it.
"Gamers" downvoting stuff on youtube and crying on social media about how game x is not the game z they wanted are the worst. Equal to that GG nonsense.

They don't want the franchise to go in that direction and are frustrated with how they've treated the franchise as a 'whatever we feel like doing' IP. Plus, there's not many ways people can influence Nintendo, but this is clearly one of them.

I didn't mean for them to be downright fired, just let other younger people take the mantle of handling their respective Metroid series, getting new blood in there like with Splatoon/BOTW, you know? Sakamoto already kinda has stepped away from Metroid for the time being, focusing on quirky games like Tomodachi Life which seems to be doing well for him.

The Japanese overview trailer is bizarre, to say the least. They go for a weird RvB setup with the Japanese VAs having a conversation through their characters as they swap screens.

The enemies sound like they burp when they die.

Because they're getting angry over a video game. It's pathetic no matter how "tone death" it is.

Spending a few minutes on this forum will reveal that this is not a Metroid-specific phenomenon.

Do you mean to say that being angry about this specific game makes Metroid fans the worst?

I don't think there's English VA work in Fed Farce. So...either it's a narration or they're trying to cater towards the Japanese audience again.

In this case they didnt downvote because they didnt like the content. They did it because it was the cool thing to do for the moment in a very annoying lets be offended and cry about it culture.

The "franchise" is not going in that direction. Federation Force is. A spinoff doing its thing. "Wah wah thats not Samus i want Samus"- lets downvote all the media we can find! Lets show those developers how shit they are..
Pathetic.

There is.

Though this might be the first indication of more than one voice actor for the player characters.

I mean, giving the series to Team Ninja and Next Level Games probably falls under what you mean by "new blood" working on the series. Not younger, but new voices.

Is it the execution? It seems like there's really not much you can do with a concept that's so antithetical to what the series is known for other than carrying it to term.

If it winds up being a bad game, I really don't think it will be because NLG didn't do enough.
You can make a squad-based multiplayer shooter that looks good and plays well, for starters. There are a fuck-ton of games that manage to do so.

Theres no redeeming qualities on hand from all the footage so far. The art is terrible and the realisation in-game is worse, the gameplay looks slow, plodding, AI looks dumb/the encounters are boring, all the environments showcased are bland and narrow, the stealth section posted above is as poorly designed as it could possibly be, it just adds up to a mechanically uninteresting game.

Its a shitty realisation of the concept, thats why its NLGs fault.

I've seen some anger on this forum buddy. Just look at that one guy who keeps making XCX threads that smear blood and feces on the walls in protest. No one here really looks furious, we're all just saying a bad game looks bad. I'm having a ball actually.

Or maybe, like me, they just didn't fucking like it.

Continuing to outsource to people who don't know how to make a Metroid game is never going to get the series back on track. And simply not passing the series onto younger talent internally means it's just going to continue to rot.

The highlight of the Japanese trailer is definitely SUPAAAAAAA MISAIRU, but the end of it did show that appears to be a lot of bosses in the game. I guess they heard that complaint about Hunters!

Yeah, I meant younger talent within Nintendo's internal studios, lol. I mean, look at this interview regarding BOTW.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1234103

This is definitely the first time we’ve created a game this large. We didn’t know where to start. So it happened to be there was a team that was working on creating a larger world. And this team was a group of younger developers. So we had our old programmers from the Zelda team take a step aside, so we could introduce this new group of programmers.

But then these new, younger developers had no clue about how past Zeldas had been created. The group of new staff actually would ask us, like ‘Well I know that it’s been done, traditionally, in other Zelda titles, but why does it have to be that way?’ And among those questions there were some I just couldn’t answer, that I didn’t know the answer to myself. That was because I just took those things on as a tradition, and I didn’t really know why the tradition existed.

When you think about it, maybe those things really didn’t need to be there in the modern world, those traditions. So I started destroying these traditions I’d inherited in the series one by one. But it’s a process that takes a lot of time. And because we were destroying everything we’d done in the past, and rebuild new ideas from the ground up, that was the hardest thing, and it’s really taken a long time to create the thing I most wanted to create.

I want to see something like this applied to Metroid.

You must not be here long enough, or maybe completely unaware of other fanbases getting mad at something about a video game. For instance, Paper Mario fans, FFXV fans, Sonic fans, and the list goes on...

Also, getting mad is understandable considering that the company completely missed the point. Why even bother with this game when Metroid fans have been craving for a main series game for nearly 10 years now? If this game was released alongside or after a main series game, no one would be complaining.

From what it sounds like, Tanabe's hands are all over this in a way that wasn't the case with the Retro games, so this seems like what he actually wants. Considering how much he's been brought out to speak on behalf of the game and how strongly he feels about the concept, including how long he's been keeping at it, I feel like you're blaming the wrong party.

Then what's the point? Don't buy the game. Stop wasting energy posting how much the game sucks in vague and nonconstructive terms. There's a dime a dozen Metroid clones out there that you can support. Instead anytime new info on this game came out it's a shitstorm. It's awful and being on here saying "a bad game looks bad" doesn't help your case, it only makes it worse. Metroid fans only prove that that fandom is a mess when you don't get what YOU want. Just like every other fandom. It's sad when you look at it.

Okay, but you're assuming that these unknown younger talents will automatically know how to make a Metroid game. I don't think a dev team being younger necessarily mean it's better.

My point is that the older talent is leaving the series behind without passing on the knowledge of how to make a Metroid game before moving on, which I think is absolutely the case right now.

Well after the backlash this game has recieved you would had thought that they would had changed something... But nope.

Because pointing and laughing at bad games is fun. I'm a terrible person and I enjoy it. I'm not even a fan of the Metroid series.

Be careful not to fall off your high horse now, you could break something.

You're wasting your energy getting angry at people who are disappointed.

For someone who hates complaining, you sure do like to complain.
