I never got the worthy successor to Super Metroid I always wanted. We have two okay-ish half throated offerings in the GBA games, and we have the Prime games which are a constant disappointment to me because of being FPS'. It not only works against classic Metroid gameplay (platforming, screw attacking, and having a sense of context around the character) it ironically makes me feel less connected to Samus. This is one of the many reasons I don't like FPS games in general, (difficulty connecting with the character) and in the case of Metroid it severs that core connection of looking at Samus in a lonely environment.. The game just being it and her.
I couldn't care less about Federation Force. I would be content to just ignore it as a silly spinoff I have no interest in, but when it's released in the absence of any mainline offering in many years it demonstrates a certain tone deafness on Nintendo's part that is baffling.
