Was thinking the OT should be Grimlock does what Nintendont but it's lacking some punchDoing what Nintendon't, making Metroid games.
I REALLY wanted to call the OP a certain word for making me think, even if it was just for half a second, that a new Metroid game had been announced. But, I know typing said word is dangerous so I won't.
OP couldn't add "rom hack" to thread title hey?
Curses on you.
At this point, it not being an official announcement is better right?I REALLY wanted to call the OP a certain word for making me think, even if it was just for half a second, that a new Metroid game had been announced. But, I know typing said word is dangerous so I won't.

let's get the ROM before Nintendo comes crushing everyone's dreams.
playing this on the original hardware... hoping it works.
The second release is going to focus on having 100% accuracy with real hardware.Just bought a new NES. Can't wait until I can throw this on a cart and play it!
This is what he said about real hardware.Interesting...
I don't see that working as shown on an actual NES though
We'be decided on a revised goal for a July release. Once we have a release candidate we'll do one last play test before we release a 1.0. After that we'll revise the game if any additional bugs are reported. Real hardware compatibility will be a goal after the 1.0 release.
Metroid : Cease & Desist
Nop, never happens even with much higher profile games. This will most likely get shut down by Nintendo but MAN does it look awesome!

Remember Project M?

So, we are in July... Any news from the developer of the project?
How hard would it be to get something like this running on Wii, Wii U, or 3DS via Nintendo's emulators? I know people have figured out how to inject other ROMs into the emulators, but I've only seen it done with "proper" games, and I really haven't even looked into that much to begin with, so I don't know what has to be done.
This was posted on July 2nd. Seems they're fine tuning as much as possible so 1.0 is as solid as possible to get the best word of mouth possible. July is still possible but it might end up moving to August. So, we are in July... Any news from the developer of the project?
We're very close to completion! The actual gaming environments are complete (maybe just a couple tweaks remaining). Currently we're getting the menus finalized and the game ending graphics and credits together. The music is 100%.
We plan on doing one last beta test session before releasing v1.0. With that we hope to weed out any remaining bugs. We accomplished quite a bit with the last beta testing session. A lot of minor level design fixes and general difficulty balancing resulted. The ASM changes were pretty rock solid with just a few tasks generated from the testing, mostly already corrected at this point.
The initial release may have some unpredictable behavior on original hardware. Snarfblam is planning on fine tuning everything to optimise compatibility.
July is possible but August could be the month, if I understand correctly that would place the release on the exact 30 year anniversary of Metroids release. It all depends on how much free time we have to work on the project. For me this is a pretty busy time of year so I'm a bit limited on time. Snarfblam has been making some pretty significant progress recently though so everything is moving forward nicely.
EDIT: We're also experimenting with modifying the running animation.
It ain't SamusIt looks great but I'm not touching it. Samus sans suit is sacrilege.
Look at my last post! They're tinkering with it so it doesn't have the goofy run. Personally I love it but I get why people think it's way too goofyThat looks really nice. Too bad they can't give the main character more frames of animation though.![]()
And rom hacks are produced all the time and there's no precedent for any company of shutting them down.

Call me old fashioned, but a woman's place is in the Varia Suit. Bathing Suit Samus should be reserved for endings.
Game looks great. Can't wait to play it.
Tell that to Zero Mission's final level.
One of the great things that remake has.
Haven't tried this one, what is the gist? Project base fixes a bunch of physics right?my god I am so excited about this
just finished super metroid base, and it was fantastic.
Yep, Hyper Metroid is legit. Thanks to this thread I started playing Hyper Metroid. Recommend it to everyone. Thanks GAF
