MGS HD Collection Limited Edition announced

Guys, the artbook isnt the same as the Japanese one. The Japanese one is the big book coffee table one shown at TGS which has 450 pages and looks like this

It's not the same because it probably lacks the art from MGS1 (and I know there's a ton of artwork for that). But, excluding that fact, the NA LE is still pretty good for what it is.

If you're getting both the JP and NA LE, then it's no big deal as you're a diehard fan. If you can only afford 1, then it's not really that much of a loss in my eyes.

There's no point in making mgs3 work online if theyre already making the effort to get PW's multiplayer going. It'll just fracture the base.
True, also Bluepoint are the ones doing MGS2 & 3 whereas KojiPro are doing Peace Walker and I think Bluepoint are just doing ports as opposed to adding features.

I'm preordering that as soon as Gamestop opens their preorders. I'm glad they finally opened a store where I live. Now, I don't have to drive 50 miles to the nearest store.

I already preordered mine from Amazon. Boom

They couldn't even provide the Subsistence disc with MG 1 and 2 on it for the collector's edition?

They would have had to have ported all of the Substance/Subsistence content to the new platform (the skateboarding isn't on MGS2 engine, I think? and MGS3 Online seems out of the question) and even though lots of parts of MGS2 in particular were reused, there's still work involved in rebuilding it. For LE packages, usually that's Marketing building the features while the designers are busy making the game. The bonus content would for sure make for great DLC though (I'd personally rather see it released that way than in some overpriced Limited box, though if it contained the download code in the LE then it'd be cool.)

The missing MG1 & MG2 are a pretty big omission though. Again, they'd have to build it to run on PS3 (I'm not sure how hard it'd be to emulate MSX, but even if it were easy, that's not Bluepoint's specialty) and so it makes sense that it's not in the package. These would make spectacular downloads though. What'd be killer would be if they ported these games as PS3/PSV and maybe even Xbox/Windows Phone multiboots, as old Metal Gear games would go great on a portable.

I'm still sad that Document of Metal Gear is nowhere to be found...

This is clearly US version. The Japanese ones come with figurines.

Only Peace Walker comes with a Play-Arts Kai of Big Boss, or if you throw down for the Konamistyle bundle, you can get Kaz Miller as well. The MGS2&3 LE doesn't come with figures.

Do I dare asking how much will Konami charge for them? *gulp*

When I checked out the Japanese Konamistlye page...

Roughly $132 USD for the Peace Walker LE with the BB figure (PS3 version was already sold out) and $195 USD for the Konamistyle version.

That alone killed my urge to import the PW and MGS2&3 HD Konamistyle versions, since the MGS Konamistyle one was also $195.

Why? So convenient!
Don't know about him, but I like being able to stop by a store on the way home from class to pick up my game. Whenever I do release date delivery, I usually get it anywhere from 2pm to 7pm

Also, 50 still seems like a bit much to me than 40 for the HD collection, so I had trouble accepting that when I only really want a 60 FPS Snake Eater. Will still get regular, but 30 more dollars for an artbook and a sleeve isn't something I'm interested in. Should've thrown in the Play Arts Kai figure or something, but I guess Japan thinks America hates figures?

Er... are all the people equating Transfarring with JP exclusive basing that on the Joystiq article from a while back?

Oh, and $30 for the artbook alone? No thanks. Should have at least thrown in the JP cover for the actual game and a soundtrack.

Seems so. I deleted that article from my mind. I knew it was bullshit.

I just like being able to walk into a store and buy something, if I want it. Then, I don't have to wait for it to arrive in the mail or by UPS/FedEx and worry about whether it's going to be damaged during shipping. Also, if something is wrong with it and I have to return it, it's easier to return something to a brick and mortar store. I'm not against buying stuff online. I ordered a couple things from Amazon last night. I only do it when I don't have any other option.

Wait. Bluepoint is working on it? Then are they doing the Japanese version too? If so, why is Japan getting MG1+2 and we aren't?

Oh geez, you and me both. All the conference trailers and test videos, location scouting and cast talks, all the 3D character models and environments, all the interactive music AND ALL THE CUTSCENES WITH FULL CAMERA CONTROL FOR THE PLAYER!! The definitive making-of for a video game, in video game form no less!!

I like Amazon, but the issue I have is that I work 35 minutes away from home and can't have stuff delivered to the office. Thus, the UPS guy comes, posts a note on my door, and instead of me just picking it up from them on my way home I have to wait until the driver is done with his route, which is usually about 7:30, at which time I usually don't want to go back out.

Just a pain sometimes.

Still have my PS2 copy but my favorite aspect of Document was really the VR missions. But yes, definitely sad that it's not coming with this release.

I think he doesn't realize that MG1 and 2 have already been confirmed.

I think I'm going to skip the US CE and try to score one of these...

Any reason why MGS1 isn't a part of this set (besides the apparent download code in JP only)? It's the only one I really want.

Too expensive to remaster MGS1, as you'd basically have to remake it all together. At least PS3 players were able to play through a revamped Shadow Moses in MGS4.

so a dvd sized artbook for an extra 30 or 40 bucks? :\

the box is just a bigger version of the regular cover, too.

So it is true that you cannot "transfar" a Peace Walker save to the HD console version outside of Japan? Kills the biggest reason I had for wanting this.

Japanese developers just do not make any fucking sense these days.

US version? :O

wait, i see TRANSFARRING...nm

Oh, for Japan?
I see transfarring.
dallow_bg said:
Well, the other reason for confusion was that Transfarring wasn't supposed to be in the US edition.

Transfarring is in the US version. I posted about it but the topic got locked so no one knew.

Why are people thinking the book is smaller? I mean the promotion images make it look larger than a DVD sized case.

$80 for preorder already

If that game box art, art book, and limited edition care are to-scale, then we can assume that the NA artbook is indeed coffee table size.

I'm still disappointed that this doesn't also have a soundtrack and alternate game box art like the Japanese edition. Maybe they didn't want to have to incorporate PW into that art as well?

What's to incorporate? That's Naked Snake right there all big on the cover art, same protagonist for MGS3 and Peace Walker. Maybe they just didn't want to print different boxart for the game itself.

Its looking like it is from the scale. Ugh. I guess we'll see.
