MGS V Gameplay is beyond a 10/10

My god this game's gameplay is crazy good. If you read the OT it really dawns on you that this game has all those buzzwords actuaply apply. Emergent and all that. You can do missions so many different ways.

One person attacks using a tank. Another snipes from afar. Another plans to just airstrike the base until they see Mewtwo in the base and decides to stealth in to Fulton him. And one ghosts through never being seen by a single person. The controls are near perfect. Buddies all radically change the way you play.

This game is just so much fun to actually play and the repeatability is too damn high. Thoughts?

Metal Gear is an ok series, never got into it all that much except for Acid 2 on PSP.

That said, this is the best action game I have ever played. Nothing comes close.

Nothing.

Too bad a game is not only it's gameplay, specialy something as "cinematic" as the Metal Gear Series

Even crazier if you go back and play GZ, there's tiny adjustments in TPP they made and you really see how the controls go from great to amazing.

The gameplay in Metal Gear Solid V is so good that I'm worried that I won't be able to return to the older games after having experienced it. Everything just flows so well and you have so many different ways that you can approach a situation.

Naaah, it's got some dings. It could utilize the open world better, a lot of the side ops are samey, there's some issues with how quickly some items open up (it takes way too long to get gun customization ), guards become a hivemind a bit too quickly after you're detected, etc

Great game, but it's not perfect by any means.

Its really good...everyone who plays the game can come up with a crazy ass story of something that happened during a mission that is relatively exclusive to them. The game gives you enough tools to let you do whatever the hell you want.

Yeah it's a 10/10 for me.

I have some problems with the large open world maybe being too large and empty for its own good, but you know, a 10/10 doesn't mean perfect when scoring a game.

Yeah, MGS5 takes those glimpses of a sandbox in the earlier games and turns them into a full blown action-stealth simulation. It's a masterpiece. Can't believe how well it plays.

for somebody who never played a MGS Game is it still a great game? i didnt watch 99% of the released trailers and footage and haven`t started ground zeroes yet. Is ground zeroes a good indication how phantom pain is? i will decide after playing it.

The clips I've seen so far remind me of Portable Ops which is about the only game in the series I actually enjoyed. Probably because the plot was fairly minimal so I didn't have to sit through any of the usual MGS expository nonsense and could get on with playing it.

I don't see perfect as 10/10. Nothing is perfect so I disagree with that moniker. It's just so much fun that's how I rate it.

I also think this game uses the open world better than pretty much anything else. It's not even open world really its a sandbox game. In a game like GTA the world is open but the missions are largely linear. In MGS V very rarely are you doing a mission the same way twice.

I S-Ranked the sniper boss battle by dropping two supply drops on her head.

I see this as a positive. It's very Metal Gear. One of the great things about this series is that you can pull off some goofy shit in order to take down unique challenges.

It took me a few hours to get into it, but yea, the gameplay in MGSV really is on another level. The freedom you have to do anything you want and have it work is incredible.

I don't even like stealth games, but the game is a fantastic shooter as well. Next time you shoot an enemy with the sniper rifle watch how there is that slight lag time to account for bullet travel, then notice how the enemy reacts appropriately depending on what part of the body you hit. It feels great to shoot people in this.

I'm not into MGS, but some of my friends are calling this game the best they've ever played.

Is it really that good?

MGSV is a sign that right now Kojima is more interested in exploring new directions in game design than in adding more overlong movies to the convoluted Metal Gear timeline. His leaving Konami and the series right now is for the best.

Amazing game, really amazing...but this happens to often.

Ooh, let me climb up on that little rock right there to get a better view. *slides backwards*

hmm, let me try to get on again, this time from a different angle. *slides again* heh, fine...lets keep moving.

then suddenly when passing by a huge boulder the press Triangle to climb prompt pops up on screen.

Also, the cover system can be really really hit or miss.

Ha that works!? Its great cause when my bro told me about that fight and how much of an issue he was having with it i told him that i was going to try dropping supply boxes on it

Gameplay is incredible, but what's stopping it from being a 9/10 is some of the grindy systems that prevent you from unlocking its full potential quickly enough.

Slightly off topic though; do people really think the story is terrible? Or do they actual mean they don't like how the story is split up between a bunch of throw away missions?

Yeah it is. Too bad the rest of the game feels half-baked. MGSV's core mechanics are by far the best in the series and some of the best in the industry. Yet I'm struggling to play it more than a mission at a time because it all feels so dry.

It would be a 10/10 if the missions in the second part of the game were not as repetitive and tedious, and if the game didn't suddenly die after Chapter 1.

So I disagree.

I can't believe i'm not playing it yet. Its sitting here preloaded on my PS4 but I know if I jump in Ill never finish the Witcher and I just love the witcher too much to give up on it.

I think the story is better than Peace Walker and 4, but Peace Walker had the terribad Boss AI and MGS4 has Johnny Poopman marrying Meryl. :P
