MGS V: Ground Zeroes Console Quality Comparison Video

Bums me out that we still aren't anywhere near the cloth physics you see on the rain coats the bad guys are wearing. In game, they don't move anything like that.

I wouldn't expect those kind of physics from a Japanese dev. And TBH Fox Engine really isn't that impressive IMO. Maybe the current gen is holding it back though

TTP won't be next gen only. If it were next gen exclusive there would be no point in releasing GZ for PS360.

I agree that TPP will be cross gen, but if it wasn't I could still see them putting GZ on ps360. Whet people's appetite for the game, and in a year or two a lot of people who played GZ on ps360 will now have current gen consoles and want to finish the story

No, not really. Ground Zeroes is ready, FOX Engine is last-gen capable, and there's a market for the game.

I doubt that TPP will be on last-gen consoles. They'll choose to focus on the two platforms, +PC perhaps at a later date. By the time TPP comes out (mid 2015 at the earliest, 2016 more realistically) the current-gen install bases will be big enough to justify releasing only on those platforms. Considering the scale of the game, and elements such as MGO 3, I'm pretty confident that the last-gen versions of TPP have already been dropped.
 
this has to be Xbox 360 version, right? The buttons are clearly xbox and GZ is not coming out on Xbone in Japan (since the hardware is not coming out soon).
There did seem to be some slowdown when he was jumping up the terrain to get on even ground with the watchtower guard in the beginning of the video.

I really doubt this. I think TPP will be on PS360 for sure, just for pure sales. Just look at GTAV, it sold so much on PS360.

probably an early build, I am sure they have fixed the performance by now

I hope they get dropped though, they're only holding back the next-gen consoles.

Eh ... I'm honestly still skeptical.

That's the official company line still, but so is "Ground Zeroes presents value at $40". We'll see, obviously, but the idea of releasing a game like TPP on current and last gen seems like too much effort.

Again, we'll see, but I'm pretty confident the last gen versions of TPP are hitting the cutting room floor. Especially when games like The Division likely won't even attempt being mutli-platform in 2015.

You play as Kiefer during Ground Zeroes and an hour into TPP, then you switch to this young african gentleman, (who happens to be an adopted nephew for the Boss's missonary brother in law) forced to dig for blood diamonds deal with racist handlers and start a revolution

I know you might be kidding but Kojima confirmed that Big Boss will be the only playable character throughout the two games. Of course he could be saying that to keep it spoiler free but in Peace Walker you're able to finish certain missions using different characters that you recruited. That child might be a recruit and yes we might eventually play as him.

Btw: What about Kojima's game with the taboo topic? Any news?
MGSV as a whole is the taboo project while The Phantom Pain is Project Ogre.

Blood diamonds aside, all those things have been in previous Metal Gears.

Exactly. Realism is the key here. The closer it is to our world the more serious we will take it and the more it will affect us emotionally and psychologically. Look at God of War, it has far more brutal scenes where you see Kratos ripping a head off, how do I feel about that? I'd probably say satisfied rather than let's say traumatized or sad because everything about this game from story to gameplay is unrealistic and a fantasy. Of course in real-life ripping one's head off is traumatic and I will probably end up having PTSD moments that will haunt me forever.

Has Kojima answered if the ps4 version will have the same motion-blur/object-based blur or whatever it's called, that's present in the Xbox One version?
 
The point of the video isn't to compare the PS3/360 versions, or the PS4/XBO versions, it's merely to show the generation leaps. Some people have suggested Kojima is trying to show up MS, but that's obviously not the case, if anything, it only serves to make KojiPro look bad, it's clearly just to inform the customers, presumably because there was considerable concern over the $10 next-gen premium.

Personally, I don't think this video goes any way to justify the additional cost. If image quality and performance was at a premium, PC SKUs should cost $200. I imagine someone could argue the PS4 lighting was additional work, but we'd already seen that model in GZ and TPP, they just didn't intend to implement it in the GZs that would ship, the technology was already built.

Looks like the video they showed on Giantbomb earlier, so I don't thinks so, or rather livestreaming a video but not gameplay.

Kind of relieved. I'd be psyched to see some new footage, but the urge to watch story spoilers might be too strong to combat.

Also, the hud is amazing
 
I wish they'd release another video showing some different details. Like what happens if you don't try and fight your way out when caught. I'd like to see what the alert status looks like base-wide when you stay out of sight long enough. Shooting out lights, different weapons. Maybe because this is so short, they shouldn't....but I'm impatient wanting to play this. Like, super bad at this point. It's been a while since I've been like that for a game.
