Searched and the last thread on this soon-to-be abomination was in 2009. Can't believe this might actually happen.

Alfred Hitchcock's film The Birds told the story of a rustic seaside town that finds itself menaced by hellish flocks of seagulls and crows. Now the 1963 classic looks set to suffer its own form of molestation courtesy of a Hollywood remake by Transformers director Michael Bay.

Loosely adapted from a 1952 short story by Daphne du Maurier, The Birds cast Tippi Hedren in the role of Melanie Daniels, a San Francisco socialite who comes horribly unstuck on a visit to northern California. Reports suggest that Bay's version will return to tale to its original English setting, while Naomi Watts is rumoured to be considering the Hedren role.

]Variety reports that the film will be directed by the Dutch film-maker Diederik Van Rooijen, with Bay serving as a co-producer. The film looks set to be a co-production between Mandalay Pictures, Universal and Bay's Platinum Dunes production house. It remains to be seen whether the birds will be giant, man-eating birds, or possibly armed with guns.

Considering there's a
huge ass explosion
in Hitchcock's movie, Bay might take it as an invitation to bring in more
huge ass explosions.
All the birds have bombs strapped to them.

Seagulls carry grenades in their beaks.

This could work.

The protagonist and his totally ordinary female co-star with centerfold figure driving away in a camaro as waves of hundreds of birds crashed into the ground, exploding behind his car.

Wow, this is what we get for bringing back Bay's career from the edge by going to see all the transformers movies.

This dude is going to shit on hollywood for decades to come.

A man who drives a semi full of gasoline stops on the side of the road to light a cigarrete.

Suddenly a bird dives down at him with such force that it's beak lacerates the side of the huge gasoline tank, spilling gas everywhere. It attacks the man and he drops his lighter.

The fire spreads to the gas and a huge explosion ensues.

The main characters lure all of the birds into a warehouse with a ton of corn and seeds, then we find out it was a soap factory run by Skylar Bird-in. Shia blows the factory up, kills all the birds, and saves the town.

I can see why Bay wants to do this.

Micheal Bay produced a lot of movies, none of them had explosions in it. He really has little involvement in these movies that he produces.

Since the birds are going to explode anyway, let's just rename it Angry Birds since they are obviously angry, and get product placement sponsor going.

I can't wait for him to repurpose this scene yet again, except with a giant ostrich instead of a robot.

You do realize that he reused that footage because when they originally filmed that scene a tow-cable snapped, hitting a film extra Gabriella Cedillo resulting in a serious head injury, leaving her paralysed.

As for the Birds remake i cant see a good film coming out of this.

Wow, really? Usually when someone is seriously injured or killed during a take, they do not use that take (the exception being stunt men, who live and die to make the perfect shot).

Why would that be a reasoning for using that particular shot?

I think what he means is that the footage from the previous film was used because they were unable to get the shot they wanted for Transformers 3 due to the accident.

Well they didn't use the take, they spliced in a scene from one of his other films The Island to use as it fit quite well. I assume they didn't want to drop the whole action scene as from memory, i believe it was quite a long action scene so maybe they didn't have time to come up with a totally different scene so they did the best job they could?
