Microsoft E3 Conference Date Announced

Does Nintendo's religious use of Tuesday for their conferences/announcements have any real world benefit?

They seem to do as well as anybody else, why not do it on Monday and not be last like usual?

The hints have all been about the Shovel Knight cameo, Killer Instinct and Rare Replay. Spencer already said that. He could be lying because he does that a lot, but ehh Battletoads is not even one my top-5 favorite Rare franchises. A new one would be nice if done by a competent developer though, I think Iron Galaxy would be a good fit based on how awesome KI Rash looks.

I just think that after Sony last year and Nintendo coming strong with the NX this year they need to have a superb show. Then I think about the current state of their internal studios, turning them all into 1 franchise factories, letting Twisted Pixel go, shutting down Lionhead and Press Play, canceling games, their slopiness with PC gaming. It's like they don't fucking care anymore. And the third-party AAA games they are funding keep flopping commercially too, it has been happening since Titanfall, will probably happen to Scalebound and ReCore. And I think they know that, which gives me not much reason to believe they will keep going after them.

It will be the MS conference I tune in with the least amount of hype since the Kinect heyday, but we'll see what happens.

All of this plus new Xbox one 4k system, new batch of high profile BC games, Quantum Break dlc, Oculus Rift support with new 4k system and MS backed Rift games.

I really hope they don't. MS should at least show a story trailer with some gameplay from other locales we've seen.

I'd love for MS to continue to announce new IPs hopefully some more with Japanese developers to fill that JRPG void.

Yeah, I don't really have any attachment to the Battletoads franchise either, so I guess I'm indifferent to a new one being revealed or not. I'd much rather have a new Banjo or Conker tbh.

Even if Spencer really said all that, I still kind of doubt they would just renew the Battletoads trademark just to do those things. Then again, with the way they've been treating the Conker IP lately, and with no sign of an actual Conker game being made at the moment, I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

And yeah, MS has been making some really weird decisions this whole gen. I don't really know what to expect from them anymore. I guess we'll have to see.

Speaking of Sea of Thieves, are you still participating in the contest? You're the only Gaffer I know that is actually participating (if I'm not mistaken?). How is it working out? :p

I was actually thinking about making a thread on this lately and asking to see if anybody else is in the contest around here, but I don't know if I should.

With how Microsoft is promoting the Vive in its stores, I would be a-ok with Rift and Vive support. I know it's a pipedream.

I would love if a new Xbox One would result in all the BC titles running better on it. Seeing these BC games run as well or worse than natively on 360 is kinda a bummer. Seeing games get a transition to just smooth things out from just brute forcing it would be great.

Updated MCC that fixes all the current issues, updates the UI and multiplayer, and ports for windows 10 with optional crossplay (so I can play on my surface)

hahaha it's still coming along, had to take a hiatus from it due to a crazy amount of work in March. Additionally, my idea turned out to be more work than I originally thought, so I've scaled back, but I'm determined to finish it. : )

Can't wait. Being there live last year was so exhilarating.

I wonder if they'll do another thing like they did last year where people lined up to get the chance to go to their conference. I flew into LA at 8 and got in line asap, didn't give away passes until the following day at 11.

That's when I found out how cold it was in california in June.

Thank God I get Sunday and Monday off. I won't be missing anything. But I'll also be taking off Tuesday and Wednesday off from work as well just to take in everything.
 
If they re-announce or even mention Phantom Dust Remake at E3, I'll likely run through a wall. I wish Microsoft would just cut the check to Futatsugi and gang and let them handle it. Let them do their Crimson Dragon RPG too while they're at it.
 
I'll be home free to watch this! I can't wait to watch it, but I expect it will be the worst conference of the big 3 because I don't see a new Banjo Kazooie game coming :(
 
My family reunion is always the 2nd week in June and yet again this is the day after. I'll most likely miss this and all the non Nintendo conferences on the 10 hour drive back. Thank Yeezus for the spoiler free thread.
 
I want and don't want them to announce a Banjo game. I want them to because I love Banjo, but I don't want to buy an Xbox1 for it.

Yep, this^. Give it the Killer Instinct 2013 treatment, with a passionate team, reasonable budget, and good pricing model. Phantom Dust would be too perfect a candidate for PC + Xbone cross-play, as well as some kind of 'free2play' model.

Am expecting the Crackdown multiplayer beta will go live that week. If Cloud Compute isn't all hot air, it could be a real standout.

Watch Recore be a 2D sidescroller metroidvania.
 
Oh god. This is it. I need to take off for work! I need to grab my second monitor! 0_O I need to get those theater tickets!

E3 man. It's one of those events where I can't sleep the night before.

My dream scenario for E3 would be new gameplay footage for Sea of Thieves followed by a trailer for a new Banjo game, and then followed by Conker appearing at the end of the Banjo trailer and chainsawing the Banjo game's logo in half and revealing his own game (similar to what he did with Project Spark, except with a better end result this time).

Of course, this will never happen since it'd be too perfect to be true, but I think it'd give Rare back A LOT of goodwill from gamers if such a scenario were to happen (and it can possibly even help MS win E3). :(

I'm actually surprised they haven't done something like this yet. Let alone not even making a true Banjo Threeie or Conker game at all. Seems like a no-brainer to me.
