Microsoft: PS4 won't make us change "anything" with Xbox One [ummm]

But, but, but, what about this plan?

Wow. Whoever did this. Bravo. I really need to start saving all these.

It wasn't Sony that made Microsoft change. It was the public's negative reaction and inability to comprehend the future.

I'm sure the viral Sony Used game instructional vid (that was on the front page of youtube for a while, sitting at about 13 million views right now), the immense crowd reactions in the conference (due to Sony addressing said issues in the conference) also helped get the issue out to the public so that public could have a negative reaction in the first place, so in a way Sony did make Microsoft change.

I know. If only the pubic had the ability to comprehend the future like Microsoft did. We'd all be using windows phones, tablets and all of us would have migrated to Windows 8. Luckily, that future only exists in hell.

I blame Jimmy Fallon. I will never watch his show again.

This is just like the time Pepsi screwed me out of my leather jacket.

Yeah there really is only one thing that can make mircosoft change and that money. It's no different for Sony either. Now for Sony, at the time, the factor of money was hinging greatly on how good they could make themself good and how is could effect sales.

MS thought they could just BS and spin their way past seomthing they knew would get a negative reaction and if they just made it to where they want to be they'd be fine. Guess what? NOPE

Stuff like this makes me wonder if they had a contingency plan all along, just in case the preorder numbers weren't what they were expecting.
Well, any publicity is good publicity I guess.

That comment about reinstating the DRM... Wow.

It was:

- The Sony press conference low blow.
- The insanely bad press coming after that.
- The gamers denouncing Xbone's existence.
- The preorder numbers and all the polls out there.

It was all a massive massive stir of shitstorm dominos.

And 13 million hits on the PS4 used game sharing guide.

Wait, so the selling game of the X1 is Titanfall?
Imagine if a PC guy said "Have you seen Crysis on Ultra? Enough said, Discussion over"
God.

They could have been telling the truth, technically Sony didn't make them change anything, Gamers did. Gamers were to against it that they decided it'd be in their better interest to reverse their policies.

In my honest opinion, the thing that made them change their mind, the final straw? The military. Microsoft didn't want to be seen by the common person as a company that is ungrateful to our service men.

Did they ever look at their current XBL user base, which I believe is about 50mil people, and think that that may place a ceiling on sales potential of a system requiring XBL.

They basically told almost half their customers to pound sand, people arent going to rush to forget this.

I suspect there might be some truth to that. That article was pretty damning in my opinion.

They may not have the DRM anymore, but price is a very very big advantage to consumers on luxury goods like video games. As long as sony can market correctly they can still win the war. More powerful and less expensive, also throw in a year of PS+ for the first batch of PS4's and you may have a great first sellout.

Yeah, I know! I mentioned price as the main consumer advantage in my post that you quoted.
