Microsoft Says They Have 16 First-Party Xbox Studios, Hinting at a New Acquisition

I liked blue dragon more than lost odyssey. Wtf do i always like shit everyone else hates lol.
I'm in the same boat, I loved Blue Dragon and played through it a couple of times. Never been able to finish Lost Odyssey.

I believe that latest Reddit leak except for Compulsion's game (they're further out) being ready in 2021, Doom Eternal going on Game Pass in May, yeah May 2021. lol. And Playful is close to going bankrupt or some shit like that so don't see that happening.

Rest I can believe. Studio wise, I do believe that Microsoft has acquired Techland which would be huge if it turns out to be true.

Moon Studio is an independent developer.
MS owns the Ori ip.
Moon would be a very intelligent buy.
A proven studio that knows what makes a game great.

Itagaki has a Japanese Studio that needs funding.
MS needs a quality Ninja action game.
Itagaki and MS work well together.
MS should buy Itagaki's studio and put them to work on 2 separate Ninja IP's.
The first one should be a 3rd Person action game in the vane of Ninja Gaiden.
The 2nd one should be a 3rd person Stealth Ninja game.

As far as Moon Studios goes, they are a small, not compact team. They don't have a set studio. They have said they have no interest in becoming owned by Microsoft and their next game is an ARPG that is multiplatform. Moon isn't happening.

Can't seem to find the reddit leak, can you link it please?

This is probably one of the worst low effort bait posts I have seen. There is a huge fanbase behind Halo who are excited for Halo Infinite(same for Forza, no one wants these franchise to disappear). They have shown Hellblade II and Project Mara from Ninja Theory. Rare is making Everwild. Apart from that
  • Playground Games second studio is making a big budget RPG.
  • Obsidian and InXile are also working on AAA RPG projects
  • Ninja Theory is creating a second studio in Cambridge
  • Perfect Dark rumours, probably by Coalition
  • Whatever Initiative is making. Probably this

LOL, that was a joke post, relax. Of course with so many studios and just 3 franchises (4 counting FH) that gonne be there forever I expect a ton of variety from Xbox studios. And each of those studios can further contain two or three separate teams that work on different titles.

But the thing is, XB exclusives lack this very high quality and polish which PS games have, other than the mentioned "holy trinity" no XB exclusive stands out of the crowd, QB was great, if they would keep the series going they might eventually build up another recognizable IP, but other than that I don't see where the whole development time goes so far, with Scalebound being the very best example of years of development for X360 graphics with clunky animations and shitty framerate, no wonder it got cancelled.

In case people didn't hear, Phil said they were more interested in smaller, unique game experiences than big budget AAA games. That's not to say they won't have any AAA games (they will) but that's what he said about the acquisitions.

I think MS did not buy a Japanese studio, but likely does have a game in development with one.

They never said that. I think you meant that Matt Booty thread where it misquoted what he was saying. He was saying there would be smaller games between big AAA, I mean do you expect Rare to make a big AAA release? But regardless 343i, Coalition, Playground Games, Ninja Theory, Obsidian, InXile and Initiative will be working on big budget AAA games, but not everyone. I am also curious about Compulsion because there job postings say AAA. But there are also smaller games like Rare's projects, the Unity RPG Josh Sawyer is working on at RPG, Coalitions Gears Tactics or future Double Fine projects.
No one said they wanted the latter over former.

Ori is one of these games that is too good to limit to one platform though :(
Everybody should get to play it.

Ori is a MS ip. No other 1st Party releases their games on other platforms.
They use those exclusives to strengthen the brand.

MS already stated they're not going to release their games on other platforms anymore. The exception being existing contracts and Mine Craft. After the last couple of games on contracts release there will be no others.
All other XGS games will only be on Xbox and PC.

Um, they actually didn't officially state their next IP is multi. That's inaccurate. No one knows yet. They just said they have one coming.

Yeah but don't you think putting Ori & Cuphead on Nintendo is short-term-ism? They knew these are popular IP and Nintendo Switch gamers would love it and rake in a lot of cash. But it damages the XBox hardware brand.

Moon's ARPG title is multiplatform(they confirmed it). But that does not mean they wont work on other projects for Xbox in future.

Can't they ask 1 of those studios to port gears trilogy to steam ?
And buy and port the Darkness 2007 somehow

Can't they just buy a bunch of ip's off other companies who are sitting on these games and doing nothing with them. 🙄

Would be Asobo you would assume. Interesting that after the rumours of MS buying them early this year, A Plague Tale went onto Gamepass, but hasn't been added to PS Now. Normally studios put the same games on both platforms, or they give something to each of them.
Also, A Plague Tale wasnt out all that long before being added to Game Pass.

I hope it is Asobo, as MS need more Adventure third person story driven games in their portfolio.

As a studio they tick all the MS boxes. Not too big, over produce for their size, and good working relationship with MS.

That was just a false rumor made for the sake of attention. Microsoft does not want to buy a publisher.
They also dont want to buy a big studio that gets alot of its revenue from Multiplatforms.
Say they buy Zenimax, and then straight away they lose one third of their sales because there is no more PlayStation revenue. Thats bad business. They are better buying a quality smaller studio that they can build up and increase sales through Xbox and PC.

This would be great news for MS.
Plague Tale was a well made, well written pice of art. I would grade it even higher than Hellblade.

If true then things are looking good.

But again, why waste them on some freakish flight simulator?

Can we stop the Asobo rumours ? They have signed for Plagues Tale sequels with Focus Home Interactive.
