Microsoft trying to move Cores?

Did a search. Didn't find this anywhere, so lock if old, but has anyone seen the 360 Madden commercial lately. It's the same as it always was, but at the end there's a little adendum and a "Starting at $279.99" screen flashes. I don't have a link to it, but I just saw it on Comedy Central.

Significant in this is the first time I've ever seen the casual segment of their console pushed aside from the "we're lauching at $299" crap. Smart move to move more systems to Madden casual who are used to buying memeory cards for their PS2....... though it makes you wonder though why they didn't drop the thing to $249 when they had the chance. :(

If they were trying to move Cores, it would come with a memory card or be $249.

Interesting to see that price advertised, though.

I dunno. It didn't stop the Maddenites from buying PS2s in droves. I agree on the $249 part though.

It's a new generation, baby. The Core is the only SKU accross all three systems that doesn't have any kind of memory storage out of the box.

Microsoft trying to move Cores? Whats next? EA Trying to sell Madden 08?!
It's been a side note going on two years now. All of a sudden it's being pimped on one of the most popular games coming out this Fall. Yeah, I agree. Nothing to see here. /sarcasm

Here's the thing, it's MS's job to sell every system out there. They are DEFINITELY trying to push core cause of the fact that Wii is getting more coverage for it's low price, and core is the closest thing to getting even with Wii. Also the fact that Wii is catching up (and both Nintendo and MS have been powerpoint crazy this year).

Nah I dont think thats anything new -- "Starting At" is a line that Microsoft have used quite often i believe. Just 'cause they can 'n all.

Wrong. Up until this development, the last three things to happen to it was 1. It recieved the least amount of a price drop between the three 360 iterations 2. It's been rumored discontinued at Best Buy and 3. It'll soon be the only version of 360 without HDMI. Had you said "they deffinatly should be trying to push the core" you would've had a point. As it stands this is the first sign that they are.

Still, I've never seen it pushed before now besides at launch or PR damage controls as a bullet point.
