Microsoft: "We are winning the games message"

If this last gen is like others Sony will get way more of my money. Titanfall looks alright, but one game is not enough to keep my interest.

For launch the only games that interest me are:
Killzone
Driveclub
Cod Ghosts
AC 4

So no MS you are not winning anything from me. Titanfall isnt even a launch title anyways, nor is it exclusive so you screwed up.

True, I expect Titanfall to have much more advertising compared to any other Xbox One exclusive aside from Halo. But EA/MS and Titanfall will have to compete with Activision and Destiny. I expect the latter to win that little competition considering it'll be available to everyone and Activision will push that game just like EA/MS will try and push Titanfall. Sony will help too since they're very interested in associating the game that comes from the creators of Halo with Playstation.

This is where Microsoft has messed up very badly with their price. PS4 doesn't need anything to compete with 'Titanfall'. There is basically no reason to care. The $40 million or whatever Microsoft paid for the measly exclusivity period on the game will ultimately be a dumb investment. When Infamous is out, Sony/Activision will focus on Destiny, then Sony will just move on to its next big games. Most importantly, big titles like Destiny will just help PS4 much more because the PS4 is much cheaper.

Normally I stay out of threads like this but your theory is a little flawed when it comes to Titanfall and Destiny. Titanfall comes out early spring 2014 Destiny comes out sometime in the fall 2014. Titanfall will have at least a 4 to 5 month window to itself with no competition from 3rd or 1st party developers.

So there not competing against each other at the launch of the games. The One version of the game will most likely be the one that sales more only because of the heavy pirating on the PC and the 360 version won't compare because of the nature of the game. If the same amount of people that played games on the PC actually payed for them................. PC sales could be bigger than any console.

Now we know it's coming out eventually for the PS4 but it will be old news and will have little impact like metal gear sold on 360 or gta the original XBOX. Also because of the selection of games that will be out for the PS4 by time it does arrived on the platform. And by then it will be associated with X1. With all the buzz this tittle is getting this could be a big win for MS.

I agree. MS has the best lineup of next gen games announced at this point. Their launch lineup and year 1 lineup are stronger than Sonys. Titanfall is going to be huge and Halo 5 is a guaranteed hit for next fall...those are big games that I care about and make me confident in grabbing a box at launch.

You know a year has 12 months in it , right ?

I'd really like you to list for me Microsoft and Sony's line up for the first 12 months.

Piracy isn't an issue , it's an online only game and tied to Origin and maybe Steam.

I'm not even going to address the rest.

I'm in a weird place with my console loyalty. I never liked Uncharted and haven't played TLOU yet, so ND's future only interests me if it's NOT Uncharted. I liked inFamous much better and I'm a sucker for pretty much every GT title. A PS4 GT won't be coming any time soon, IMHO. Media Molecule did cool things with LBP, but the platforming itself is too floaty. I never played KZ yet, but KZ:SF is the only PS4 game I've pre-ordered. GoW 3 left me cold too.

Then again, I've never been much into MS's exclusives either. I never played Gears, Halo has been a circus of descending quality with a focus on competitive MP that doesn't resonate with me. Forza and Horizon were great, though. Also, fuck all zombie games. DR, L4D, etc - I just hate zombie games and I think this zombie fad needs to die in a fire.

My favorite games of the current gen were all multi platform - Mass Effect, Oblivion/Skyrim/FO3/FONV, DE:HR, Bioshock Infinite, Amalur (I know that's weird), Sleeping Dogs (VLTTP, but holy fuck I liked that game!), SSFIV, Borderlands 2....

And yet Sony's indie push has me excited! Ryme? OMG, yes please! Rez0gun? Hell yeah! Transistor... I'm very excited about those!

I agree that Xbox One has the better launch lineup. PS4 lineup is a bit weak, but part of that is because Sony is still heavily supporting PS3 which is smart. I'm fine with Killzone until February. I will have Beyond, GT6, Ratchet, and Puppeteer to keep me busy.

True, they certainly have the better launch lineup. But history has shown us what happens to MS first party and third party exlusives as the generation matures...the vast majority of them dissapear and big franchises get homogonized. In contrast Sony ramps their first party support up as time goes by. So while Microsoft is releasing things like sequel after sequel to Halo and Gears, Sony is doing things like The Last of Us, Heavy Rain, Journey, Infamous, Ni no Kuni, Little Big Planet, PixelJung

In MS' defence they do have stuff like Alan Wake once in a while, and Sony is starting to milk God Of War a bit too much. But it's not even comperable.

Really? So much for their one week of humility.
I honestly think the launch lineup is rather dull on both sides. If MS thinks their lineup is enough to be declared winners? Pah!

They definitely have some great stuff announced. First Party games like Forza, Dead Rising 3, Killer Instinct, Quantum Break, Sunset Overdrive, D4, Crimson Dragon, maybe Ryse, and Halo 5 all have me excited.

Your eyes need glasses if you think the ps4 has a better launch lineup than the xbox one.
hmmm? I fail to see why people automatically want to make this some defacto consensus? X1 launch lineup looks absolutely terrible to me! Killer Instinct ftp nonsense looked ok, but am I going to be buying that over just practicing in SF4 getting ready for SF4 Ultra? Nope...Dead Rising looks like a rental, Forza looks equal to Drive Club and I can skip both and just get GT6 on current hardware. COD/BF/Watchdogs are MP. Resogun actually looks awesome and just as addicting as Stardust and I finally get to play Minecraft on a Playstation if I buy a PS4.
I'm not even getting a PS4 till next year sometime, but this X1 has a better launch lineup stuff is laughable at best. Bost platforms exclusive wise look very weak, with the slight edge IMO in PS4 because of the smaller games offering diversity, and Knack.

They sold a couple million. And it's pretty silly using those as comparison points. There is a very good reason why stuff like Infamous, Killzone and Drive Club are showing up early, rather than later when ND, SSM, PD and other big multi-platform titles start showing up with more consistency. They're safe titles, but they're also titles Sony will comfortably make some money on because they're available early when people are less picky about the titles they're going to buy. If they don't manage even that, some people better start praying.

In the case of Infamous, there are high hopes giving it an early showcase will help it become a bigger franchsie. That's why it's being given extra time, whereas the others are being told to hurry up and get ready. Killzone is the one I see being hurt potentially sales wise because it will have to compete with Call of Duty and Battlefield which basically leaves it a little screwed.

Drive Club will sell a lot. I expect that to do 3-4 million when it's all said and done.

Verendus, even if it will be a though fight for KZSF aginst COD & BF4, don't you think that it can give them a serious run for the money with the apparent quality level of its production ?

Terrible? Come on. The big exclusives they have this launch trumps their last ones. Dead Rising, KI, Forza, Ryse or Crimson are all very interesting looking games only found on their console and that's not counting any of the multiplat ones. But somehow its lacking diversity? Hell its a shooter console and they don't have one in-house shooter at launch. Id say its a nice refreshing change from what i usually see from them.

I just want to throw in my 2 cents. First off, delaying games from one generation of system to another is a truly detestable practice. I'll just use TLOU and RYSE for examples.

Not only would TLoU not have sold as well but, it was made as a PS3 game. When you start mucking with studios and making them so drastic stuff like change the platform they're developing for, you come out with a worse game. Games like TLoU coming out so late in the life span are just proof of continued support from Sony WWS. It was the same with the all of their former systems. This means my $400 will be valid for as long as the PS4 is the only console they have out on the market. I'm not going to get utterly abandoned during the last 3 years of my consoles lifespan like MS has done to the 360.

The same can be said for RYSE. Apparently that games vision had gone from Kinect to conventional and all kinds of other hoops. But, it was taken from 360 development. Another reason less to turn on my 360 ever again.

Taking games from a previous platform, makes your game worse, your previous platform and legacy weaker, and all in all might not be worth it. Here, if this image doesn't sum up MS and Sony "AAA" and exclusives support in a nutshell, nothing else really does.

I mean seriously...what is up this X1 has the better launch stuff? Is it because there's just more blu-ray exclusive at retail? Really, is it Forza? Dead Rising? Ryse?? (Really Ryse?) Crimson Dragons? I just don't see how either of these launch platforms look amazing or how either outclass each other in any way.

Having said that, I still give the nod to PS4 for diversity has there seems to simply be a lot more to play digitally over the launch and launch window.http://www.ign.com/wikis/playstation-4/PlayStation_4_Launch_Titles

Guess I just have selective taste, only thing I want to play between the both of them is Knack, Resogun, and Contrast.

I've seen a few people say the Xbone has a better launch line-up and the PS4 lineup is weak. They are literally launching with the same exact games, or counter-games in the same exact genre. In the PS4s case it has a triple A exclusive FPS to go along with it. So...odd.

Verendus, even if it will be a though fight for KZSF aginst COD & BF4, don't you think that it can give them a serious run for the money with the apparent quality level of its production ?
KZ:SF interests me because I like sci-fi shooters more than modern shooters. I'm also hoping that getting in early with a new game with new mechanics will help me not get slaughtered with MP. It also helps that you can play MP with bits to practice.

Also, doesn't it help that KZ is on a platform where the Calluh and Battleduty bros are less prominent? With all the early maps and stuff going to XBox this gen, haven't the bros gone Xbox already? I'd think that leaves KZ:SF on a platform where PS3->PS4 upgraders are already not as into modern military shooters?

Yeah, but we're playing stuff like that all the time?? I mean, yeah a better adjective I guess would be average...they're both looking really really average to me. I just can't go out and spend $500 or $400 to play the same experience I'm having now with upgraded visuals. Especially when GTA5/GT6 is coming out this year on top of playing TLOU and Bioshock.

Ryse/Dead Rising really look shallow to me. Forza and KI I'll give you, but again, it's just not interesting because I'm not seeing what the new experience is.

I just want to play some of the digital titles, and I Knack because, well there's not that platformer/simple games anymore. To each his own, but hmm I dunno, but kinda sucky to me at this point. Infamous only thing that truly stands out. MOre interesting in how the OS works lol...

To be fair though...I have to give X1 the slight edge just because of KI, what's up with the lack of developers trying there hand a fighter? It's always SF/SC/TK and anime fighters. Hats off to MS for that one. Still ain't buying no X1 though...

Now we know it's coming out eventually for the PS4 but it will be old news

Love how ps4 owners think titanfall will be coming to ps4 soon.

You dont think ms would moneyhat it like gears of war....nahhh im sure they would let one of the most anticipated titles end up on a competing system.

Damning. Just damning.

EA is the publisher and they are not doing so well with all the money bleeding. Gears of War was published by Microsoft.

Mass Effect Trilogy
Bioshock
etc.

No one thinks Titanfall will be on PS4 in a few months time after it launches--but it was heavily hinted that it is a timed exclusive. And if the game does well (which I think it will--primarily on 360/PC though), the sequel will most certainly be multiplatform.

Sony should have put TLOU on PS4 instead of PS3. The game is a mess on PS3 and would have been much better if developed on a more powerful system. After 10 years the consoles have been out for far too long. I can understand if last gen lasted as long as the 6th generation, but it did not. So if Microsoft did the same thing with a 5 year long gen like with the first Xbox then I would feel abandoned, but the 7th gen has lasted a DECADE. Cut it off right now please.

Looking at the launch lineup between Xbone and PS4, Xbone's lineup looks....lacking. Then again, it's my opinion and I'm not trying to force it down people's throats like some others in this thread.

What!?

The game is fine other than a few bugs. Did 4 playthroughs just fine.

I don't know - there's nothing really that makes me think I would miss out if I didn't get the Xbone. Same with the PS4.

Most bit games are multiplatform (yes there are exceptions) so relying on exclusives doesn't mean much at the moment.

Also, the more MS execs speak the less I like their system so please keep quiet guys.

Sony doesn't abandon old consoles when new ones are announced. Stuff like TLoU, Beyond, GT 6 are it's swansong to a console that is finally producing them some money. They need ps3 games to keep selling while the ps4 userbase ramps up. that's not going to happen unless they put out some ps3 games.

Still, I expect few 2014 major first party ps3 games that aren't ports from something else.

TLoU is a fantastic on PS3 , and this generation is still a few years shy of having lasted a decade.

Ive got news for you, that's exactly how every console launch has been in the past. I guess the difference between me and most is that i knew what to expect while i guess everyone else was somehow expecting a revolution. I don't think MS is reinventing the wheel here. But when i think back at PDZ or Kameo at the 360 launch, fuck i hated those games. PGR3 and Halo2 is literally the only games i played on 360 for months, and one is a OG Xbox game! Now i get a lot more variety. Sure they might not necessarily be killer apps but at least there's more than 1 game that i wanna play. And you know what, most the games really don't look PDZ bad. As for the indie games, with Steam and most smart phones, i get a shit ton of those already. For 500+ dollars i wanna play games that cant run on my phone, but thats me.

Such bullshit when a lot of people will be getting PS3/360s for the holidays.

For 500+ dollars i wanna play games that cant run on my phone, but thats me.

That is what you think indie games are?

I agree with MS for now (launch window really is great compared to PS4), but knowing Sony the tables will turn this time next year unless MS has a bunch of aces up its sleeve.

No it hasn't. PS3 launched in 2006. We are about to hit its 7th year anniversary. How are you getting a decade?

Oh word, yeah no doubt--especially on that Infamous nod. I was just looking at it from an objective point of view thinking that each system has mostly the same games or games in the same genre. Of course preference will easily override all of that--just when you said weak I assumed you meant from lack of content or genres represented in comparison to the Xbone.

As for the indie games, with Steam and most smart phones, i get a shit ton of those already. For 500+ dollars i wanna play games that cant run on my phone, but thats me.

So your phone can run:

- Resogun?
- Android Assault Cactus?
- Octodad?
- Transistor?
- Everybody's Gone to the Rapture?

I can understand not having the indie game appeal to you, but this ridiculous poo-pooing of them and acting like they don't have diversity and flesh out the launch is insanity. Besides, the fact that Sony has their shit together and have all these games for launch while MS doesn't even have anything to show at all speaks volumes to consumers.

KZ:SF is going to have a nice lonnng run in terms of multiplayer being the first exclusive fps out the gate. It was the same with perfect dark zero which had a massive community for many months after launch.

I think third parties are winning the games battle at launch.

No doubt. People need to cool it with the crazy defense of each consoles launch games. It's based on opinion and I don't think we all have the same one. Both consoles have good games that different type of people will enjoy lets all be friends.
