I think this whole fear of the government spying on you is paranoia. If the government wants to watch me sit in front of the television in my underwear eating junk food, they're welcome to watch.
K2 cant spy on you...as been said, but if government tried to use k2 to spy on you, we will wage war in court against it.

One is actually useful.
The other one is Kinect.
The hell is wrong with people? Smartphones, laptops, mics and headsets all have these very same functions and your all worried about 'spying' now, 10 years later? Hypocrisy. Those crying wolf aren't even buying the device (Sony fanboys) and voicing concern for something they don't even want in the first place? Hypocrisy. If MS uses the device in the manner suggested they'll get sued to kingdom come. They have huge departments just to prevent this kind of thing. It's all opt in data, nothing the consumer is committed to.
Those departments take the week off when the Skype data was provided?

so why didn't they do this when the government was seeking data from their other stuff?
And how exactly would you know about my stance on privacy for the last 10 years? Calling people hypocrites without the shred of proof is a pretty bold move.The hell is wrong with people? I was dead set on getting both consoles day one at the end of last year. Certain policies and decisions made me change my decision.Those crying wolf aren't even buying the device (Sony fanboys) and voicing concern for something they don't even want in the first place? Hypocrisy.
Did Microsoft get sued for giving access to Skype?If MS uses the device in the manner suggested they'll get sued to kingdom come. They have huge departments just to prevent this kind of thing. It's all opt in data, nothing the consumer is committed to.
If they have a contest to win something it shouldn't be that bad.
I feel sorry for people who are so willing to surrender their personal freedoms. It's not paranoia at all but its pretty clear you don't follow the news at all or you would know that.

To be honest you guys should be more worried about Sony (and any other major company) protecting you data on their 'secure' servers than something like this. Yeah, there's a real valid concern based actual history.

I feel sorry for people who live their lives in fear. If you guys care so much about your privacy, throw away your computers and cell phones and go live off the grid in the woods somewhere.
microsoft might not provide data to NSA, but what guarantee do we have their 3rd party partners wont? you know, the ones who WILL be receiving our data.
oops thought it did ... doesn't matter the wii u, vita and 3ds does,, oh no!!!!
Call us when you care about your privacy.

Every time.First they'll say its not happening, then they'll say any collection of data is rare, then they'll say that yes, while collection is widespread and universal, everybody does it, and finally we'll settle on nobody having any right to privacy anywhere at any time, with constitutional protections being a quaint relic of some long lost age.
That's how these threads always go.

You keep bringing other things up and it's irrelevant bullshit. Let's flip this for a second and pretend we're on the Apple forums discussing the privacy issues with an iPad. Now I come in and start "defending" it by saying that Microsoft and Google do this too! It isn't just Apple! It's ridiculous. Stop.
I'll also point out (since you're somehow apparently unaware) that Sony and Nintendo are both Japanese companies. They are not named in this PRISM mess because they aren't the NSA's bitches. That's not to say that it isn't entirely possible that these companies also use their devices for these kinds of purposes, but so far there is no evidence of that.

I have nothing to hide. If you also have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about.

Microsoft helped the NSA to circumvent its encryption to address concerns that the agency would be unable to intercept web chats on the new Outlook.com portal;
The agency already had pre-encryption stage access to email on Outlook.com, including Hotmail;
The company worked with the FBI this year to allow the NSA easier access via Prism to its cloud storage service SkyDrive, which now has more than 250 million users worldwide;
Microsoft also worked with the FBI's Data Intercept Unit to "understand" potential issues with a feature in Outlook.com that allows users to create email aliases;
In July last year, nine months after Microsoft bought Skype, the NSA boasted that a new capability had tripled the amount of Skype video calls being collected through Prism;
Material collected through Prism is routinely shared with the FBI and CIA, with one NSA document describing the program as a "team sport".
He is just another ardent Xbox supporter.

Wait, you think privacy is about hiding something ? Wow.I have nothing to hide. If you also have nothing to hide, then you have nothing to worry about.

WOW read a book this argument was disproven like 3000 years ago

Because life 3,000 years ago is the same as it is today.

So MS just admitted that it is possible for the Kinect to spy on people?
They're advertising Bengay on a games console. Think about that for a second.
Edit: Kinect 2 version = Say "I love Bengay" to receive 20% your next tube!
