See how a photo from the opposite side makes the E3 2010 purple look different.

Id feel guilty getting rid of my Black 3DS since it has all my ambassador games on it. This purple is so pretty though, I need it in my life.

you can do a system transfer and then have your ambassador games on your new 3DS, that's what I plan on doing whenever they release the 3DS XL

This makes me think, does anyone offer a good solution for system transfer when trading-in? Are there any retailers that might let you do a system transfer before handing over your old 3DS, for example?

Like, maybe in exchange for a deposit, and you have to bring it back within 48 hours or something.

How long does the system transfer take? I cannot imagine GS would complain if it was only 10 minutes or so. Nintendo needs to get on accounts, stat! Especially with redesigns, etc.

The purple will never look like the prototype because it doesn't appear to have the same lustrous finish. That sad, it looks good. Was kind of expecting plum crazy but it's okay.

Best decision so far to inject some life into the 3DS.

The top part is black so that your eyes aren't distracted when the 3D effect is on. Has nothing to do with cheapness.

I was really hoping for more of a grape from that color scale pic like the E3 model. Like someone else has already mentioned, the renders look more eggplant. I'll wait to pass final judgement until I see one in person. Until then, my plans are to add a Flame Red to my Cosmo Black and anxiously await Cobalt Blue to complete my trifecta. I would have liked an Ice White with that to be really patriotic, but that's life.

It's actually not the same color... It's a slightly different tint. Ew.

Does anyone actually like the metallic sparkles on the lid? I really want to see how noticeable it is on the white model, but I can't find a good picture.

Truthfully, launching two systems in one year seems like a genuinely bad idea. 3DSes are selling well; a redesign after E3 would cannibalize the WiiU.

I'm not saying it won't happen, but it is genuinely a terrible business decision at this point. They should wait until early 2013.

I think I'm going to wait until after E3 too just in case. With Nintendo you never know, they already fooled me once when they released the lime green DSL in Europe (which I bought to replace my OG DS) a mere week before announcing the DSi.

The only color I really don't like for handhelds and consoles is red, with the red Gameboy Pocket being the one exception. Every other color is fair game to me.

My favorites ever are the blue DSi and green GB Pocket.
