Is there any reason why Nintendo can't color the inside flap on all the 3ds? That black ruins every other alt color they do
I am extremely disappointed in that part of you that is extremely disappointed that you really want one. Purple is the best colour.

So is 2D since almost all DSlites has that stupid black/color mix. Probably just saves money to use the black screen.

They discontinued it in favor of the red/black, blue/black, and black DSlites.

That green one looks like vomit.
pretty sure the black dsl was discontinued along with the white one. you're also overlooking silver, pink and blue.
In the case of the 3DS, the black on top is to have people focus on the 3D screen, same "effect" from movie theaters apparently.DR2K said:

3DS is apparently just design choice because of the 3D screen. As can also be seen on why the bottom screen is the same color as the rest of the unit.
So you can system transfer from your original Ambassador 3DS to a new one and not loose your Ambassador certificate or games? I'm not sure that purple is the color to make me give up my original Aqua unit but if we ever got that Cobalt Blue unit I would almost certainly go for that.
I ended up importing a White Japanese unit and it looks awesome. White works really well as a 3DS color and I'm sad America still hasn't gotten it.

Made this mistake with my horrible Aqua Blue, it looked sexy on pics when I preordered
Btw, I think those pics aren't even of proper factory units since both green/purple have a color-matched circle pad instead of the usual awful grey one.

I had the opposite experience, I thought it looked horrible in pics but when I saw Aqua Blue in person I was impressed
But still, purple son...PURPLE!!!

I liked that darker purple 3DS though, but I was never gonna buy it. Right now I have a Black & Red 3DS's so I won't be buying another unless there is like a 3DS XL.
You can easily sell it on eBay for a negligible loss. Start the auction on May 10, have it last 10 days. On May 20, buy the new one, do a transfer, and post off the Zelda one with a factory reset.

The purple transparent GBA is also nice
It's milky purple though, not quite as vibrant as the atomic purple. I still like it. Anything translucent is cool.
Had to point a desk lamp at it to get that picture lol.
Am I the only one that wishes that the analog nub would be the same color as the 3DS? or at least black, so it looks good with the black part on the upper screen.

I'd prefer solid colours to the 'was popular in the 90s!!!11!' metallic thing that they seem so fond of. A DSi still looks classier than a 3DS.

I think I've heard that they fixed that problem in later shipments of the 3DS.
I'm not entirely sure though, so I could be wrong.

Has this been confirmed for Europe yet? We have all the other colours.
From what I remember it was fixed across all models starting from the red one back in August.
Recently saw a red one my friend got and the first thing I noticed how when closed the lid were not as close/tight as my blue/launch model.
It is always recommended to not put much pressure on the top lid anyway; as even on the fixed models, there might appear some smudges if you put them on the pockets of some tight jeans/bag, so there's extra pressure on it.
