They should look towards Amazing Spidey for costume inspiration. It doesn't have to be spandex, but it doesn't have to be Nolan-Batman gear either.

I think the suits have aged well, we don't need to redesign them. They still look a lot better than many of the cheesy redesigns posted here.

Simply touch it up with some CG to remove wrinkles and zipper lines, and you're set.

They need to look like warriors, maybe in the early 90s when there was no HD tvs and audiences were less sophisticated you could get away with hokey skin tight lycra and some sparks. But now you need to come visceral, and yes that means upping the ante and making these guys look warriors, because thats what they are meant to be.

The problem with most of these fan made designs is that the suits look like Cyborg Ninjas which isn't very MMPR although season 3 did the ninja stuff but still.....

The MMPR movie had the right idea but just replace the pvc material with something else.

I'm loving this design, kinda remind of Arbiter from Halo. But it look mysterious, and actually look like a battle suit instead of cheap costume.

Don't even get me started on how the gold is throughout his body instead of just the chest piece.

that season was based on Chinese martial arts and Yellow was drunkboxing(and being able to control time). They thought it would be hard to adept.

They felt they would lose fans if after a year, the costumes they got used to suddenly disappeared and replaced with these weird new ones.
The stock footage was also really violent, it was a martial arts themed Sentai so there was a lot of hitting people with bo staffs, and hitting people in the nuts (keep in mind, Saban were already getting complaints about violence so adding this wouldn't have been a good idea)
There was also no Black Ranger. In Sentai, Black & Green are interchangeable, one year you'd have a green ranger, the next a black ranger. Zyuranger was the exception of course.

I'm just curious why in Season 3, the Kakuranger costumes were brushed aside to some new alien characters instead of being made new costumes for the Rangers. Hell, they had those Ninja get-ups already...

EDIT: Of course, Dairanger eventually did make it over in Super Megaforce. With a very half-assed explanation of what they are... Fuck this season.

no one is saying it didn't age well. But for a tv show budget it was great. we're talking movie now. IF they decided to redesign the suits, they gotta step it up and get rid of the old material. I still think the first pic of the green ranger I posted is the best redesign ive seen so far.

These deviant art designs are terrible, they make them look like bulky space/aliens. The current designs are good because it allows movement, for them to perform their martial arts. Having access to a bigger budget would produce much nicer suits given that Sentai is made with low cost in mind. Every time you see a bulky armor upgrade suits in PR like the battlelizer upgrades they normally just stand there shoot lasers cause they can't move. Some good armor type design from PR/Sentai are the Akibarangers designs. Of course ignore the hair helmet design if you don't like it as it was a parody show

Looks like his "core" is restricted by plated armour; the most important element of the martial arts they do is a free and open trunk.
