Miguel announced for Tekken 7

Miguel's drop kick is lethal

Tekken even gives them the language of their country
Which shouldn't be a big deal for fighting games since they gather folk from around the world but it is

Also good for them to actually get a castillian spanish dub actor, like Punch-Out!! did with Don Flamenco and not a latin american one. American and japanese media actually do it wrong lots of times
im looking at you, Capcom, with RE4

Shame his ingame puffy face looks so different from the CG portrait.

Noticed that too. They forgot to give his in-game character model sideburns. It would frame the face better and make it less broad/puffy.

Small change but imo considerable improvement on the right.

As I mentioned earlier, I have the suspicion that Soul Calibur designers, specifically Takuji Kawano, are designing the new Tekken 7 costumes. Typical for Kawano's designs is the attention on bare chests, lotsa belts and buckles, metal ornaments and pretty patterns everywhere.
Those aesthetics lend themselves better to historical fantasy (?) characters than modern characters.

Unless there's an explanation for the change, I won't forgive what they did to Hwarang— They took a character who already had questionable fashion, gave him a bigger budget, and took him on a shopping spree.

Well, yeah, as I said maybe there is more to these characters but as someone checking out the reveal trailer that's supposed to hype them up it's pretty underwhelming. Anyways I'm just having my regular Tekken moan; I'm glad you're excited for this character. :-)
Believe me, I know the feeling of wanting those certain characters, and the disappointment if they don't get in. The eternal struggle of fighting game fans. Hopefully there's still some reveals that you'll be excited about.

I am quite pleased about Miguel, he was my most wanted character so I'm pretty amped to espouse his good qualities. I actually would of thought he'd be someone you'd like, but I have to remind myself that a lot of players don't look at fighting games in quite the same way as I do sometimes.

Oh it is expanding, not sure if Miguel is console exclusive like Lee but they did say there will be console exclusives.

They also talked about supporting both the arcade and console version after release.
I hope there's still a decent amount of characters to announce. I've got a lot of characters I wanted so far, especially now that Miguel is confirmed, but of course there's always more I'd like to see. I'm hoping the console version is pretty jam packed with content.

I think it will be content rich but not so sure what finalized roster we'll see down the road but there will be more to come.

Man I dunno, Miguel and Zafina were always the two newcomers from 6 I cared the least about. It's like, they're cool. I guess.

His new design is pretty great IMO, I think it's his best so far. (Though I like his TTT2 look too.)

I'm sure there will be plenty of options to dress him to your liking through customization.

Yeah and also almost all the characters have an alt costume. Most of them have their Tekken 7 vanilla outfit, which is their most iconic ones. Heihachi with his regular black outfit, Paul's red outfit etc. So Miguel will hopefully be no different.

Not really, when Lei is the only character Harada has specifically called out as unlikely to be in.

The fact is, for as loud as his fans are, not many people have ever used the character.

Ehh, I don't buy the character usage argument. Why is Yoshimitsu in the game, then? He's had pretty consistent low usage in most of the latest Tekken games, and is difficult to use, like Lei. You could bring up the "game mascot" argument for Yoshimitsu, which is very valid. With that in mind, let's not forget that Lei Wulong is basically Jackie Chan. That fact alone makes Lei's addition worthy, even if his usage is low.

Not that I'm going to cry foul if Lei is in fact not added in, because he wouldn't be the first Tekken character in this game to be excluded. Still, I think you can't rule him out.

When it comes to Tekken, Harada uses character usage when it fits his ideas. It's a flimsy argument to begin with.

I didn't really use Miguel that much, but I'm happy for those who do main him. Now I'm hoping that Lei fans get their character back.

As for me, all I really need now is Kunimitsu. That being said, I already have Jin, Alisa, & Lee, so I'll be satisfied even if Kunimitsu doesn't show up.

Oh damn, it's slightly-anime Benicio Del Toro :3

He looks like a good character, definitely picking up Tekken 7 when it comes out!

Still waiting Lei, Ganryu, Julia, Anna, Zafina, Kuma, Panda, Armor King, Marduk, Roger Jr, Christine and Eddy.
Hope all of them can get in the line :'(

I don't like his boots.

You're right, that does make a big difference.

This. Also if usage rate comes into play, where da Capos?

I don't find him hot at all if that's what you mean :-). Too greasy for my tastes. If I thought he was hot you wouldn't hear me complaining ha ha.

Honestly, I'm not campaigning for one character or another. I don't have any stake in this so it was just an observation from seeing the roll out of this new Tekken. It's highly unlikely I will buy this game new.

Aww, I think he's adorable. Like an expensive steampunk gigolo with a fiery temper, but underneath a heart of gold. Tekken has such an expansive customization system now though, you could dress him up in something that suits your tastes more if you like.

A big part of what I'm excited about in T7 is dressing up the dudes in fun outfits.

I think you should curb your expectation on Tekken 7's customization system. It's nothing like Tekken 6's diverse selection of hand crafted attires for each character that can go as detailed as customizing individual hands, sleeves, layers on upper body, feet, neck, etc. In Tekken 7 they no longer hand craft specific apparels for the characters and instead recycle the generic gendered clothing pieces from TTT2 that lack all the cloth physics and next gen textures you see in the new defaults in Fated Retribution. Namco also stripped the detail of customization on the limbs restricting it just the head, upper body, and lower body in T7.

Only thing they did add are accessories to make your character look as obnoxious as possible with floating Taiko drums, shower heads, butterfly wings, among other senseless shit that would make the Tekken 4 art style roll in its grave.

That's a shame, I always preferred being able to pick from clothes that fit the character rather than a generic set I have to make.

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.

I hope they improve things for the console release.

About as likely as Namco reanimating the legacy Tekken 2 animations on their cast. The system is never different from the arcade release. What they did in TTT2 was take a certain permutation of the generic custom items and use that as a 2p outfit for each character. And this resulted in the game allowing mimic costumes (1:54).

There might be some console exclusive decal stickers and costumes taken from the story mode. But a system overhaul is probably not happening.

You know, I thought this gen would enable Bamco to make the in-game models almost as good as the CG models, at least face wise. I guess we're still a ways off though judging from things.

You're asking way too much to a game that has to run at 60 fps on low end hardware.

Miguel is my middle name so when I saw this I almost thought it was about me slightly lol. Dude is a beast, used to play him alot in TTT2.
