Can't believe people still buy brands, much less preppy brands. C'mon guys, didn't we all learn our lesson with Starter jackets in grade school?

Holy shit. Totally forgot about Starter jackets! I had one. :lol

The A&F store in 5th ave is pretty much a gay bar. 5 stories of paintings about shirtless and brollic men. Ugh. And I like how they're themed too, like one floor was about construction workers, other fire fighters, etc. Not to mention statues of muscly dudes too.

The ImprovEverywhere hit there was pretty funny. Hundred guys walk in shirtless :lol

why the hate on A&F?

Their jeans are one of the few jeans that are made so that they don't ride up your friging crotch whenever you sit.

and their hoodies are the best ever. keeps you warm even in the 30s and still make you look good.

I woul never pay full price for it though. then again, I never pay full price for anything

Really i have 20 dollar pants from target that dont ride up. Never been in A&F but im guessing their jeans cost upwards of 50 to 80 dollars, if not more?

i liked abercrombie and fitch back when they had this cool safari-esque vibe going on, circa 1998ish. their shit now is so cookie-cutter surfer dude.

There's always at least one shirtless guy and one chick wearing a tank top and shorts at the front door. There's also shirtless photography/art all over the stores.
You serious? There are actual, real shirtless guys running around in the stores?

So the A&F HQ is in actuality a gay art gallery? Ooooooook.......

I can't stand A&F. It's expensive, usually ugly and ill fitting clothing. (Only fits if you're a femme little boy.) Seriously, if you pay $60 for a pair of faded and torn jeans, you need to be slapped.

Wouldn't surprise me considering the entrances are always dominated by a big crotch shot of a guy in jeans with no shirt on, in the rain.. :lol

The shirtless guys are usually reserved for the front door, inside the stores they all wear polo shirts. The shirtless photos (+ art in the flagship stores) are plastered all over the store; even in the shopping bags.

Hmmm. I think I might have a pair of Vans sneakers at home. But I bought them because they were cheap and comfortable from Payless. I wouldn't set foot into a Vans store, if such a thing existed.

Target? Erg...I am never going back to those types of jeans again. Shit gets bad after like 1 month of wearing.,

but no, you're right. AF pants tend to cost $80-100. That's why i wait for deals when it drops to like $30-$40

This article is so old, but I always try and tell people about it when they mention that store.

My girlfriend dragged me into one of those god awful stores this past winter and I felt dirty after being in there a few minutes. Like I had been violated.

If you don't have odd sizes, I've found really nice name brand jeans at Ross or TJ Max.

Express has good quality jeans, and they go on sale rather often.

This is turning into a fashion thread.

Last time we found out that people wear the same pair of jeans every day for 5 months straight. I wonder what we'll find out next...

That's pretty insane.

My gut would tell me this is a bad business decision, cause some men would be intimitaded by the bodies of those men knowing they've got floppy fat stomachs. :lol On the other hand there's probably an appeal too, the irrational feeling you'll be as good looking if you wear the same clothes. I guess the latter effect is larger than the former, but I personally would find it extremely strange to see shirtless guys walking around at the store as some form of advertising.

That reminds me, I was walking around in the city last week and in front of a Levis (? I think) store there were girls dancing in a little uniform listening to music with a head phone. It looked so goddamn stupid, and the girls themselves knew it. :lol You could see the embarrassment on their face. It would've been so much better if the people walking by actually heard the music as well, instead now it was just as if those girls were high on drugs or had spasms.

What does quoting my tag and target have to do with anything?

Everything you buy is a brand name.
They mean buying something specifically because its a certain brand. You know the type of people that look at someones clothes and go "oh thats soooo last year" or "ew i cant believe your wearing THAT brand." Which coincidentally is the type of people that shop at AF.

I buy what I like, not because its a specific brand. For my work clothes I like places like Bach Rach, Macy's, Nordstroms, but only when they are on sale. Paying full price for 80 dollar shirts or 70 dollar pants is just not smart. Other places like Kohls, TJMax are good as well.

I would never shop at somewhere like AF for reasons stated by earlier posters.

Wait a second, they have a shirtless guy greeter at every store or just the flagship one in NYC?
At every store during high traffic, sometimes with a girl. The flagship stores usually have 2 shirtless guys and one girl during high traffic or just 2 guys wearing shirts during low traffic.

...and more people don't find this REALLY disturbing?

Just looking at that HQ gives me the creeps and speaks volumes about it's owner.....

I have a pair of cargo shorts from A&F.............love them, but they are a bit pricey for me.

I shop at Hollister cause their stuff just fits me and I am comfortable in them. Only time I buy stuff from there is after Christmas or on the clearance rack, never full price.

But yea............I've been in the A&F's around me and so awkward when I walk in with dudes half naked just standing there.

Why not? Maybe they have really good deals.

Exactly. :lol :lol :lol

I was wondering what happened to Tom Lennox this season. He apparently went from the White House to A&F.

The CEO guy looks like the Geico cavemen.

Abercrombie is lame-o.

No one worth paying attention to shops there.

With the world in a global financial crisis, you'd think people would learn to stop paying 400% premiums for defective products.

Why is everyone cleanly shave? It really pisses me of this new fad that hair=bad. Fucking media has skewed everyone's minds.

WTF, GAF? You all sound like jon bones giving people shit for buying their clothes at the mall.

I have one pair of A&F jeans that fit me better than any other jeans I own, but I don't wear them very often because they're button fly and it makes going to the bathroom sort of a pain in the ass.

Actually, for business men I believe it's a psychology thing. I read some time ago that people have a tendency to believe people who are clean shaven more than people with facial hair. Something about facial hair causing people to see the person as hiding something because it obscures the face. Don't have a source for that I'm sorry to say.

You do know that quality jeans can hold up to some serious wear-and-tear?

Edit: To be on-topic, you guys should read about the creepy CEO at American Apparel.

aritcle's beginning said:
Dov Charney, founder and chief executive of casual fashion giant American Apparel, acknowledges that he has appeared in his underwear many times in front of male and female employees.

And yes, on a few occasions during work meetings, he donned a skimpy garment that barely covered his genitals.

I don't go to A&F, but I have a few hoodies and button ups from American Eagle that I like. They have some cool vests and shit that are cheaper than the stuff at J.Crew.

And don't get me started on how expensive Urban Outfitters is :(

Real cool people wear real designer duds anyway, not some suburban mall brand.

The photo in the OP is not particularly high res but you can tell how obviously shitty thier quality is, especially the pants :lol

I was a store manager for an A&F here in Arizona for about a year (Spent about 6 months at A&F and another 6 months at Hollister, but its the same fuckin thing). At first I liked it, i got to boss a bunch of dime breezys around and flirt with the cute customers. But after a while i realized what a joke it was, especially for a guy with a bachelors in Marketing.

I eventually ended up walking out on them, literally, because of how unfair i was being treated. Now i consider it one of the worst jobs i've ever had. I got about a 50% discount, which was cool.

I find A&F clothes not really made for black bodies.. I have the same issue with Old Navy and a few other shops.

I remember buy a XXL shirt that was one sale for like 24.99 or something. It was a long sleeve shirt and I wore XXL most the time and XL sometimes... (now it is XXL/XXXL)

Came home put it on and the sleeves only went to my right before my watch...

:(

Do you have this problem with sweatshirts? Can't stand this.

Wash it once and the sleeves shrink six inches.
