Define "manufactured" in this sense. If you're talking about the music that is built to sound like previous hit records, then no. That's just staying on trend, but that doesn't apply to all pop music because not all pop music (which is a widening category of sounds) is continuously growing. You have recent acts like Adele and Bruno Mars who are both apart of Pop music, yet each have very distinct styles that definitely having contributed to the growth of music.
Twerking is old as fuck. It's basically evolution. It first really "documented" on vid probably early 2000's.

I understand what you're trying to say, but why is it only pop that gets flack for being label manufactured? I never see vitriol directed at hip hop, rock, etc in reaction to commercial music of questionable quality. Artists like 2 Chainz and Nickelback are never used to bring down their respective genres, meanwhile people constantly cite Ke$ha when trying to make a point about how awful pop music is.
She's a grown woman. She can do whatever she wants.
