Millons of PSN, Windows LIVE, 2K etc passwords hacked.

I entered quite a few of those email addresses in the "forgot password?" section of SEN simply to check what would happen. Worst case scenario: someone gets a mail.

Turns out almost all of them were not valid.

There are a lot of these claims.

Most the time they haven't hacked the services directly, but have obtained weak passwords from forums and other online sites.

Yeah. I call bullshit.

Edit: Not to mention, I would hope that those employed by 2k Gaming Studios would be more mature... and you know actually have an @2k.com email address. I mean seriously, look at these
Don't worry, I starred out the emails in case they are real... Which they obviously aren't

This is the scariest part. You can apparently tweet a pastebin out with alleged details, send some quotes to a news outlet, and get a story published like this where the claims are simply taken as fact.

Note the lack of words like "allegedly" in this article. Terrible reporting.

And say things like "this is just a small sample of what we have.. muahaha" that way if your not on the list... you might still be on the list!! Lol. Fuck this. I'll wait for an official word.

We need a new way of logging into websites. Too many fucking passwords and too much bullshit with all these hackers.

Isn't that pastebin just a portion of the supposed 7 million+ accounts? I changed mine to be safe, but I wouldn't write it off if your name doesn't show up in the pastebin.

..Or you know standardization of Two Factor across everything. Have the system auto generate a code every login and be done with it. Thats the best we're getting until we develop and give everyone neural implants which can verify its us.

Eh changing my password anyways. Will tell my brother to change his PSN account password as well.

Though we don't have CCs connected to our accounts anymore so umm should I still be worried?

No hits.

My PSN and XBL both have unique passwords not used anywhere else so I don't think I need to do anything yet :/
XBL has 2 step verification too.I think they would need my phone to hack my MS account.

I am getting real tired of these shits.

*opens password manager, changes PSN password, closes password manager*

I expect this took a lot less effort than hacking the databases.

this is why i don't save my card details. i've memorised my card details so doesn't take long just to type it all in each time.

this very well might be fake but i've spent hundreds across my PSN/blizzard accounts. I don't want them compromised. gonna go change my passwords to be on the safe side.

Not sure I believe it's legit. The sample just doesn't seem real to me. Though I guess the threat is they have apparently a lot more.

Waiting for Sony/MS/Etc. To comment

This doesn't surprise me.
I kind of knew about the CIA stuff, but I didn't expect it was that big of a breach and it wasn't even from Russia.

I believe Congress will act on this pretty soon, and will put out another overreaching bill similar to HIPAA for all companies with customer privacy information.
Heck, security isn't really secured even if a bill is passed. It is just a cat and mouse game.
With Target, Chase, and Home Depot getting hit back to back to back, these billion dollars companies are having a hard time even playing the cat/mouse game.

I got an email from Sony that someone had changed my sign in ID like a week ago. I am noe not able to connect to my PSN account, and neither am I able to reset my password. Maybe this is the reason.

Annoying. Why are people such dicks? I never have any money on the card connected to PSN anyway.

Real or not, appreciate the heads up and passwords changed as a precaution - as others said it's a good excuse to do it anyway.
