Wtf. I tried all my PSN emails and they're fine.

But my actual proper email address I use for important stuff has been breached once. But it doesn't say when. It says it found no pastes though. What does it mean?

the same for me... but click on the breach link and it will say the service that was hacked... for me it was Adobe, back in 2013, lol

The twist is they hack you when you check if you got hacked

this is of course a password matching tricks... but i'd like to know which service has been really hacked.

My Bet is on Origin, lol

Thread title had me in ful on panic mode.

Thread contents, not so much. Fully expected to read about a real hack affecting millions of PSN users, not.... this.

I can't believe that some grown men are actually proud of doing shit like this.

"You heard about Anonymous knocking the entire .Mil domain offline? Well that was us! You hear of RedHack launching DDoS attacks against Turkey's government? That was us as well! You heard about LulzSec knocking gaming servers and websites offline? Well that was us too! And that was us who knocked Syria's internet offline earlier this year. DerpTrolling really has many forms, most people only see the Gaming side of us! We can be very serious hackers."

FFS does this man-child really think anyone is impressed with this shit?

I'm calling bullshit this particular time though. Just some attention seeking morons.

Phew... Seems that I'm safe, for now. Actually surprised that my main email hasn't been compromised in all these years.

Cool link. Also it knows my Adobe account info was compromised in that huge data breach a year or two back for one of my email accounts.

Thanks for the link, that thing is getting bookmarked.

Seems my main email address is fine, although I have a habit of changing passwords every six months or so.

One of my old email addresses was breached in the adobe hack last year, so no real biggie as it didm't have a CC data in there (needed that audition demo to test out for work).

That site checks to see if a username and password have been posted to public password sites, not whether your account has been hacked by someone. It could be years after an attack occurs that it shows up there.

Changed my passwords and all that just in case.

I really don't understand why they would pull something like this off. Bunch'a jerks.

This is the reason why I use dedicated debit card for online shopping and I have minimal funds on that account. If I want to buy stuff, I made money transfer via online banking system and order goods right away.

frustrating for sure, but i never, ever store my credit card information on these accounts so they won't even receive a penny from me if they were to try. hope people are safe even though their accounts may have been compromised.

This is one of the reasons I don't take people who want multiple different storefronts held by multiple different publishers "because competition" seriously.

Apparently my gmail was "pwned" according to that site :-( Guess i'll have to change my passwords now. It was another hack though (happened in september), unrelated to the psn hack apparently.

Soooo since when did a DDoS attack give you user credentials?

Also folks don't go putting your email addresses into websites to check if you've been 'compromised'. If they didn't have your email address before they will do now.

Do people read the contents of threads any more? Anyone who has would clearly see there is absolutely no reason to change your passwords.

Guys just change your password. I change it once a year for almost everything personal, and every 30 days for business.

I use keepass and a plugin that syncs with Dropbox, and Passdrop (ios) on my phone. Works great, and I have my password everywhere. Keepass. If you want easy and not free go with Roboform.

There are several good articles on Lifehacker for password management. I have used a key + randomize scheme for years that I feel is very secure. 9 characters that is the same for every password I use + 4-5 characters specific to the thing i'm logging into. For example the key is "3U72gg4Np" and a unique suffix like "game". Effectively creating a set of passwords that easy to remember, not the same for every site, and fairly safe. If you stick a symbol in there "HowSecureIsMyPassword" says it takes 37 million years to crack.

Example Lifehacker.com Password article

I'm system admin on a tier 3 support team for a large number of data centers. When shit breaks and operations can't fix it they call us. We also test and plan for patch deployment. Security patching is a constant process. After Target, Home Depot and a couple other notables in the last year the security updates have been non-stop. I think I saw half a dozen new alerts yesterday before I left work, and we just spent all week taking care of POODLE and the SCHANNEL vulnerabilities. Testing and devising a deployment plan for 14K servers in 70 data centers can be stressful. Then we have software developers telling us "You can't patch, our software will break", and management adding "I saw this new security flaw on the news is that patched yet?".

I'm glad my company or at least our organization is serious about patching, but many companies are not, so protect yourself.

Yep, me too, never bought anything Adobe and didn't even know there was usernames and passwords, so I wonder how they got it.
