Milly Alcock cast as Supergirl

Of course, I'm still excited to see how the movie turns out

Even if it turns out bad, I would still highly recommend checking out the 8-issue series Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow that the film is adapting. It's fully self-contained, you don't know need to know anything going into the story, and the final issue wraps up its story completely. Also the art is awesome, really brings to life all the alien worlds Supergirl and Ruthye visit along their journey.

I need to check out the indie comic Helen of Wyndhorn, it reunites the duo of writer Tom King and artist Bilquis Evely who made this Supergirl book.

The Superhero fatigue is real. Superman was a huge letdown. Her short stint wasn't much of anything in the film. Doubt it's going to be any good.

Superman may have been the worst movie I have ever seen but if this is a movie about that trashy Supergirl from it then that is actually the sort of thing Gunn is good at. Only if he intends for it to be primarily a comedy tho.

Fashion trends looped back around with Gen Z. Baggy/Oversized clothes are back.

(Billie Eilish might be the one to credit for this happening)
I can never tell if this chick is an absolute smoke show hiding out under all that goofy aesthetic or if she is just a dumpy chick mumbling into a mic for a living.

"It's SUPERGIRL! (with a ton of other characters, that you don't really know, but that I like, and want to place front and center for reasons!)"

You haven't seen her in form fitting clothes? She may not have much of a booty but everything else is FIYAH!

Mostly comic book geeks like me know the story Supergirl is adapting from. "Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow"... Widely hailed as one of the best DC stories out there in recent times.

We'll see if they stick with that. In my experience, they don't when adapting to film.

Have you actually seen that movie? Even as a kid I knew it was terrible. Probably one of the first times I understood what a "bad movie" really was lol

I have seen it, and probably in theaters, and we all knew it was bad and boring. I should watch it again just to know how smart kid me was.

I'm struggling to recall if I saw it in theater as well. 1984 was right at the cusp of when I started being able to just go to the theaters all on my own (dropped off initially, then bike riding) and started becoming an almost weekly thing, hence why I've seen so many damned useless films :P

Oh great, she's going to have a typical attitude trope.
We saw her Attitude in Superman. She was a irresponsible party girl that cared only about herself. But I bet she will learn a big lesson in her movie. She will have some things happen that help set her on a path to truth Justice and the Woke way.

Kojima is hyped

Remember when a certain group of illiterate idiots wanted everyone to believe he hated the DCU? :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Edit: Now on his English Twitter:

I think I saw it in the early 90s when it was featured as a Sunday Night Movie of the Week (remember those?)... and we shut it off halfway through because it was awful.

Seems he improvised the line "So is Gary" :)

This is why I support actors being there, in scene, even if replaced by CG later. Moments like that would be hard to manufacture if just doing voice over or if Gary was a giant animatronic puppet (or worse, just a ping pong ball on a stick), unless Tudyk was still there, off camera, to improv the line.

Sadly the cynic in my knows 99% of stuff like this is made intentionally for social media/marketing, very little of it is really spontaneous or real.
I'd believe it of Tudyk though. There is a reason why he does soooo much of this kind of work, I think.

I finished this last week. It's the most I enjoyed a comic book story in many years. Evely's artwork is peak. I'd love to see her pencils and inks with Dave Stewart's colors.

I'm looking forward to the film. Gunn is great with casting and he's really enthusiastic about Alcock, I think she's great, and knowing that this is inspired by Woman of Tomorrow makes me even more optimistic. I didn't watch Three Body Problem so I am unfamiliar with the child actress's work that has been cast as Ruthye Marye Knoll, but fingers crossed. The guy who is portraying Krem really has his work cut out for him if he wants to be even half the bastard that character is in the comic.

The art is incredible. I'm curious to see if they keep the narrator aspect from the comic. I hope so since that True Grit influence was another thing I really enjoyed about the comic.
