Wait, what?!
Now that's the sound of a mind being blown if ever I've heard one.

I remember hearing it simultaneously x20 when I opened up Paint on an overhead projector and proved it to my psych class. Your brain will simply not accept that it is possible until you match them up (at which point it still won't exactly accept it but it can't deny it either).

WTF?

Why use a picture of real Obi-wan for a moronic quote that fake Obi-wan said?

Here's a good start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contrast_effect

Follow through on any of the interesting links on that page to get a more comprehensive idea, as it involves more than just that one effect in total.

BTW, John Locke coined the term describing that effect. Guy had his hands in everything.
Contrast Effect -> Perception -> Awareness -> Conscious -> Mind -> Panpsychism -> Philosophy

The Wikipedia trick does not work with starting page as NeoGaf. You get stuck in an infinite loop.
I did not get stuck in an infinite loop by clicking on the first word in the actual article.

NeoGAF -> internet forum -> online -> telecommunications -> information -> finite -> mathematics -> quantity -> property -> modern philosophy -> philosophy

Yeah, she spins right to left... I dont see the illusion.
I've always seen the change in direction. Today was the first time I noticed the nipples, though.

mind blown.

Looks like someone must have edited it.First I used to get stuck on Internet Forum and Chat Room.The word online was not linked first in the Internet Forum article.

Um. Without the surreptitiously added vertical line it doesn't really look at all suggestive... :-/

Heh, you're right, I didn't even notice until you mentioned it; I was fixated on the "something else."

As a former baseball card collector, that blows my fucking mind.

I'm sure there's a rational explanation, such as the first link always being something important which will lead to philosophy.

That said, I got to "philosophy" from Charlie Sheen in less than 20 clicks.

Because each article starts with "In ...." where ... is a more general category. Thus you go from pop culture -- culture -- geography -- planets -- physics -- math -- knowledge -- philosophy

Mind officially blown!

The easiest way to make her switch directions is to focus on the reflection and try switching that first.
When the switch happens it's quite epic. Almost as if time slows then she goes the other way.. awesome illusion.

i naturally see it spin clock wise. that's my default.

to see it spin counter clock wise i close my eyes and visualise it going counter clock wise and then open my eyes.

it'll spin counter clock wise for a while and then eventually switch back to clock wise. when the switch happens it feels like i've witnessed a glitch in the matrix. it's quite cool.

Kinda drunk but ok whatever. The thing switches from clockwise to counter clockwise on the beat of the music I'm listening to. I demand a peer reviewed study on this observation.

I really have to focus to get her to spin counter clock wise, but once she is going I'm good. I find it easier to switch her back.
