That girl in God's arms, maybe she's the Aeon Sophia, the lowest emanation of True God beyond the Veil? But that would make the guy in the painting the Flawed God(our creator), Demiurge, wouldn't it?

Absolutely willing to believe if there is a God, he's a she.

Everything I have ever known in life is now a lie.
you know our eyes actually SEE the world upside down?

it's our brains that invert the received image and make it appear right way up.

everything you experience is just a perception of your brain... and your brain makes LOTS of "mistakes".

I hope I remember this right.
Well according to the old gnostics, the closest we ever got to the true divine was a very curious female emanation of the Ultimate God, who snuck down to the shadowiest corners of her world so she could practice creation alone, which was forbidden, because creation without her partner would be unbalanced and impure. So she creates the Demiurge by mistake, and the Demiurge in his anger and confusion at being "broken" creates the physical universe and creates servants, and from all that comes good and evil and everything we know.

So this world is a virtual simulation, basically, and the true power behind "god" is just a tiny piece of the whole, and female. According to the old gnostics.

Amazes me that all this time there were discussions going back to the beginning of religion about God being a female working through a male "front man" so to speak and I had no idea about any of it. Never heard a thing about it.

I read this about the Demiurge. Thanks for the heads up.

You only breathe through one nostril.

Not true...

I breathe through one, but my wife breathes through both...as do many friends I brought this up to.

(EDIT)

UNLESS THEY ARE LIARS

I don't get it....I just stared at the cross and then it ended. What was I supposed to do?
It's really cool actually. Look at the cross, but in your mind focus on your peripheral vision. The girls tend to take on almost monster-like characteristics, all deformed and such. Really exaggerated features. I think it's our minds trying to put all the pieces together and not doing it so well.

I figured it out, I had to rewatch to see their faces...I definitely saw some Medussa-level shit going on :)

Yeah it is old (but comic is still fun)

It's also denied by Lucas. However the funny thing is that when I was a kid (I'm Dutch) that big revelation was never a revelation for me. Because I thought his name was Dark Vader (Dark Father)

So the combination of that 'Dutch' word and my shitty English as a little kid ruined the surprise for me.

Haha! That was just a test to see how nerdy you guys were!

Get a life, losers!

Ok, sorry, I meant to say "No. I am your father". When I read the text in the image, the "No" being there made no sense for some reason.

They could make like in Italy, where he was renamed as "Dart Fener".

Did you think Father Christmas was your dad?

Not knowing Dutch, I always thought it meant Invader, similar to Sideous. Lucas was influenced by a lot of sources though.

Some random quote I found on the net (not sure if it's true):

As the Making of Star Wars and Making of ESB books point out, Vader's name came from Lucas liking the sound of two different ominous-sounding phrases: "dark water" and "death invader." He combined them to get Darth Vader.

Speaking of anagrams, I always thought October Sky was a cool title, as it's an anagram of Rocket Boys, the book upon which the movie was based.

Yeah, I think this was his intent. I think the whole idea for Darth Vader actually being Luke's father originated during the writing of the Empire Strikes Back.

The blind spots in our eyes is always a little mind blowing to me.

Basically our brain just fills in the detail so we don't ever really notice it. Makes you wonder what else you brain could be "filling in" with the other senses...
You're only actually seeing where you focus. The brain is gradually filling in until the edge of your vision, where it is practically 100% guessing. Have you ever wondered why there aren't any shapes out there and just blurred colours?
