MindsEye |OT| The Benz Presents - Mafia 2077

Kinda crazy that a game from what, 20 years ago or so does basic shit better than this. Even with patches I wonder if this can be made into something truly worthwhile.
 
I'm at 8 hours and the trophy list still looks like I have a decent amount left. Still having a swell time.

Once you get your little drone buddy, gameplay changes up a little bit. Being able to shock stun guys and then headshotting them or using it to control the cop bots is pretty cool in a 2006 kind of way :messenger_grinning_smiling:

To follow up on our update yesterday, we are sharing insights and actions from the past 24 hours at the studio.

We are heartbroken that not every player was able to experience the game as we intended. **Our priority is optimizing performance and stability so that every player, across every device, can enjoy an equally high-quality experience. **

Our teams have worked tirelessly throughout the night to solve many of these issues, and we have now identified that the vast majority of crashes were caused by a memory leak. This impacted roughly 1 in 10 of our players. We have developed a hotfix that addresses this issue (alongside other issues that our players have highlighted), which we are working hard to deploy as soon as tomorrow on PC and on consoles once it passes certification with PlayStation and Xbox.

We are fully committed to ensuring all our players have a great experience, and we will continue to provide frequent and transparent updates. We will do our best to respond to all your comments and feedback.

**Friday, June 13-15 – Hotfix #1 – PC & Console**
*What players can expect:*
- Initial CPU and GPU performance improvements, along with memory optimizations
- Reduced difficulty for the CPR mini-game
- A new setting to disable or adjust Depth of Field
- Fix for missing controls in the MineHunter and Run Dungeon mini-games
- Pop-up warnings for PCs with Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling disabled and for PCs with CPUs prone to crashes

**Hotfix #2 – Week of June 16 – PC & Console**
*What players can expect:*
- Continuous incremental performance and stability improvements
- Fix for the buggy wheels not visually spinning while driving
- Fix for areas in Car Manufacturing where players could fall through the world

**By End of June – Update 3 – PC & Console**
*What players can expect:*
- Ongoing performance & stability improvements
- Rebalanced "Hard" difficulty setting
- Animation fixes
- AI improvements

This game will be a 4/10 and it's very unlikely it'll hang around long enough to succeed.

It does have a chance however. The key will be the online. If that aspect can keep a player base maybe a PS6 version will run at 60fps and not be burry. But I doubt it'll be around to see the day when everything is fixed and working right.
 
From my 4 hours or so I'd give it a 7. There's some solid gameplay mechanics and visually (at least on PC) it's good to very good. I'm also digging the story.
 
It will be an interesting read come the post-mortem with this project and how it went all wrong releasing it like this.
 
its sad to the game in this we need more linear games like this.
and yes i am a sidequest slut but i miss aa linear games.
 
Perhaps I'm overly optimistic, but I have a feeling the Benz (and the studio) will not sleep until this game is fixed. From the footage I've seen this game is trying some pretty interesting things cinematically and the Rockstar DNA is evident.

Hoping for a Cyberpunk situation, and this will be running buttery smooth on PS5 in performance mode come fall.
 
Wow, kinda reminds of the Sonic has green eyes days...

If they patch this game up I will definitely play. I enjoyed Crackdown 3 and Mafia 3. I can see myself liking this.

Thing is, by fall, this will drop to 15-20 Eurodollars max, something which might be good for us but not for the devs, having said that, it's not like I feel.sorry for them, this game should have stayed in the digital oven for another half a year at least, unfortunately, some people never learn...

Sure you've been trying to make this game for 5 years or however long. Probably spent the last couple Christmas breaks sweating over the fact your game is running at like 15 fps and looks like Dark Void, but somehow the big optimization breakthrough is mere days away. Don't stop trying Eye Bro's. I want to root for this game.

Mega Textures died for this.

The real problem was he wanted everyone else to do/think the same as him. If not it was either trolling or non valid criticism.

A little heads up. The PS5 patch does absolutely nothing. If anything, it runs even worse than before. Contacting Sony now and asking for a refund. I let u guys know how it went. (less than an hour played)
 



It's a bit sad, because it isn't all bad, definitely not. There seems to be a good story, interesting characters, the cutscenes look great. The driving itself to me seems fun too. But then there's also plenty of basic shit that even San Andreas already had that is lacking here. Hopefully with patches they can save it?

I don't understand this viewpoint. What you're saying is that to have an opinion on something you need to pay for it first? I can understand the "experience it" viewpoint but paying for it when we know it "looks" shit would just be silly would it not?

I think it's fair to say that a game looks like shit without playing it. People need to stop putting their personalities in to games and tying themselves to it. People can get very passionate here obviously, we are all enthusiasts but definitely we all need to relax at times.
