Minecraft for Xbox gets Simpsons DLC

simpsons are still a thing in 2015, crazy

Technically, everything is still a "thing" when you look at it, what with nostalgia-laden merchandise and reruns. Gumby even plays on a station around here, and the last time he mattered was when they made a (TV, I want to say?) movie about him.

But that doesn't mean they're still relevant, far be it. They only survive by leeching onto other things' popularity too late for it to be notable. Watch, the season 2 years from now will feature Lorde and a Couch Gag about how a shirt can be seen multiple ways.

Let it go dude. People aren't going to bite.

Exclusive content is nothing new. This isn't the end of Minecraft on Playstation. Just enjoy the content. I wont be picking up the skin pack but I guess it's nice for the fans.
I don't particularly care for skins DLC in minecraft either, but it is still kinda lame that this is happening. hate or love minecraft, it is undoubtedly one of the biggest video game phenomenons of recent history that started out multiplatform, and is now owned by a conglomerate that has a line of its own video game platforms.
Granted I'm not the most articulate person in the world but why do people in this thread think I'm commenting on exclusivity or the buyout?

I was just making a passing comment that Minecraft, due to its popularity, has become an advertising platform too and that it makes sense. I wasn't commenting on exclusivity or the acquisition.
I didn't mean to single you out if that's what it seemed like. Just read what you wrote made me a little confused on what exactly it was that you meant, I guess.

it did launch on 360 over a year before the ps3 release, too.

He left the company... So I guess it's irrelevant in this case.

Then again, considering how much MS paid for it... I guess one can argue about that.

Why would someone leave a video game company? He made video games for a living. Something does not add up here.

Microsoft injected him with money (possibly through the butt but most likely through the artery) and it has taken ahold of his brain. How else do you explain the house he bought?

I can't find the link atm but I'm pretty sure this Simpsons stuff was announced ages ago, at at the time it was confirmed that it would be coming to other platforms later, just like the other skin packs. Does anyone else remember that or have I dreamt it?

A Last Of Us skin pack, first on Xbox, would be amusing.

I don't like skin packs in Minecraft anyway, texture packs are much more useful.

The main game updates are still released at the same time as Xbox on Playstation platforms so I'm not bothered by skin packs and mash-up packs.

...it only makes sense to keep it exclusive? what would they be losing by releasing the dlc on playstation?

A sale to me.

I like both, but yeah the texture packs are more useful. Although I've been using many of them on PS4 this past week while attempting to platinum the game and noticed that with texture packs enabled, the framerate takes a bit of a dive sometimes. Ended up going back to vanilla.

This has been going on before Microsoft bought it.

Yeah but it's just so obvious in this case because there was a Simpsons Mod for Minecraft in 2013 and I think before...

EDIT: And I would do it the same if people pay for it. Smart business.

A sale to me.

they'd be losing sales by releasing it on playstation? how does that make any sense?

if you mean they'd be losing a sale of minecraft on xbox, this is just dlc, so it's more likely they'd sell the dlc if they released it on playstation rather than have something buy the game on xbox for this dlc.

interesting how they made the jawlines with the minecraft model's neck. looks a little odd though.

Nah I read your post wrong. I thought you were saying "What would they lose by keeping this only on the Xbox platforms". I shouldn't post at 3 in the morning.

ah, so you agree with me then?

Yes, I think it's in MS's best interest to make as much money off stuff like DLC as possible. As someone that moved from 360 to PS4, I'm definitely feeling the pain of the gaps in time it takes to bring stuff, including patches, to the PS versions of the game. We didn't get the Halloween or Christmas add-ons until long after the holidays were already over.

I also think it's in their best interest to use Minecraft 2 to pimp their own hardware initially, though.

gaps of time? as someone pointed out, some of the dlcs haven't shown up to playstation at all, that's before the mS purchase. i'm wondering if the ME dlc for example, was a timed exclusive on 360 but then became a permanent exclusive after the acquisition.
