One of the only things I literally laughed out loud at. I almost woke the rest of the house up.

And I don't usually find the same things funny that most people do here (e.g., that retarded pic of batman taking a shit..so unfunny and stupid).

If the age of consent is 16 then they're not sexual minors. Don't see the issue, it should follow age of consent.

If the world had it's way, 18 would be the universal age of consent legally and morally... if not raised to 19. Such innocent children.... save dems.

Reading through the thread, I must have forgotten I was on GAF. I took the picture to mean he was getting out of R.I....

If they're old enough to get naked for one person, then they're old enough to get naked for an entire roomful.

And you want the age of consent to be 19? Then who is going to give it to college freshmen? Other freshmen? What a waste.

PROVIDENCE –– Rhode Island

With the age of consent at 16 in Rhode Island, the police worry that teenage strippers could take their business to the next level and offer sexual favors –– and it wouldn’t be illegal. State law currently allows indoor prostitution, and two bills intended to ban it have stalled in the General Assembly.

“It leads to a societal breakdown,” he said. “These are just little girls.”

Honestly I don't see the problem here. If you're old enough to legally have sex you should be old enough to be a stripper.

Completely not true. When you say "world" I take it you mean the "upstanding, righteous majority of family-values Americans"? It isn't that uncommon for people to be married off at 16 or younger in some cultures. While here in America (and the UK, for the most part) 16 is too young, we aren't the only culture out there. So I disagree with a "universal, world age agreement".

I'm with you, Gaborn. Also... "These are just little girls"? 100-150 years ago that was marrying age, and in many countries it still is!

But they are minors for purposes of entering a work contract, which could arguably give the prosecutor more to go on. Also, if there was security cameras in the club recording, those could potentially be classified as kiddie porn. So really, its not like there aren't any avenues for the prosecutor to go after this.

Anyways, need to get off the web, captain just turned on the fasten seatbelt sign, and I can see the Newport airport out the window. Peace.

1,000 years ago average life was 26 years old. Thank god for pedos.

According to state law they can legally have sex. Heck, according to a majority of states a 16/17 year old can legally choose to have an abortion. Why should the state tell a minor past the legal age of consent how they can and cannot use their body? They're allowed to have sex but aren't allowed to be seen nude for money?

As much as I hate to say it because of the young children involved, stripping and pole dancing are seen as forms of art, despite being of a sexual nature, and it wouldn't be that much different than, well, dancing in a play.
I like the cut of your jib.

That was really an argument against the use of mid 19th Century culture as a defense.

And why is the case of a 16-17 year old having an abortion a case against this? 16-17 year olds have a better case for abortion rights then women in the mid 20s.

Against what? You haven't really made any case that I've seen. What I'm saying is that if we allow people to do all of these things I don't see what is so offensive about allowing them to strip. No one should be FORCED to do so, but if they're of legal age I don't see the rationale behind the outrage here.

You argued that 16-17 year olds have a right to an abortion in most states, and I fail to see how that supports either side of the argument.

Well, maybe it's because I consider an abortion, whatever your personal view of a fetus, to be a more "important" or "major" decision than a job at a strip club. Once you have an abortion there's really no going back but if you're uncomfortable working at a strip club you can quit. So, basically if you have enough control and autonomy over your body to make the decision to have an abortion I believe you should have similar autonomy to choose to work as a stripper (especially since you can legally have sex if you choose)

One of the greatest 1st replies I've seen.

Is there a thread for Best 1st Replies Ever? If not, there should be - and that one should be in the Top 5 at least.

Dunno what a miner is going to find in Rhode Island. Not sure if there are even any mines there.
There are miners in Rhode Island. And there are minors in Rhode Island. Miners can be strippers, and minors can be strippers, but miner minors or minor miners can't be strippers.

Miners can't be minors, and minors can't be miners. Not in Rhode Island.

I've been here my whole life and I never knew about this. But then again I've never been to a strip club. You learn something new everyday.
