Wow, this is bullshit. Possibly the worst thing that could happen to this show, short of being cancelled. Nathan was my favorite part of the whole show, in my opinion he elevated it to a whole other level. He really kept it from getting melodramatic and was the most unique, memorable character in the whole roster. This is really depressing. This is the equivalent of The Office UK losing Ricky Gervais. I really don't think the show will be even close to as awesome as it was with Sheehan.

Fuck... they should've fought HARD to keep him. This also throws big holes into the plot, even if they are trying to explain them with stupid 'short films'.
 
Pretty much. It would have been a smaller loss to lose all the other current actors combined, than lose him.

Losing Andy Serkis as Spartacus was tough...but this hits even harder. :(

Agreed 100x. Remember the episode where Curtis changes time and everybody except Nathan is dead? Yeah, it wasn't that bad because Nathan is still alive.

This is some horrible irony: the one character that can't be killed off...

gets killed off because the actor leaves the show.

His charter annoyed me at first but he became one of my favorites.

And good show but like a lot of Britain series they seem to take stupid and most times predictable twist.

Really? Can you give some examples? I personally found that the show had a lot of great 'oh-shit!' moments and revelations.

Again good show but cool Simon from the future with the even cooler underground base I don't think was needed as it made things get kind of more stupid.
 
The story in Season 2 was pretty stupid. But that's the beautiful thing about Misfits...it's the one show I watched where I truly didn't care about the story one bit. Nathan was the reason for that.

Future Simon was interesting because he totally redeemed Present Simon. Simon goes from being a piece of shit loser to a totally self-sufficient, self-made bad-ass.

Was it even explained how Future Simon traveled backwards in time, though? That was really strange...

I was cautiously reading posts to dodge spoilers, but any show where the standout characters leave is a terrible fate.

everyone from season 1 and 2 are staying but "Nathan" which they and i feel that him leaving is pretty much better if it was canceled.

Nah, going into the hiatus, the show was probably as popular as ever.

It's just that *sigh* the Nathan character is a major part of what makes the show pop for a lot of people. The shit this guy does and says on a constant basis is hard the reproduce. Oh well...

At the end of S2 they went and acquired new powers, so chances are Simon's new power was time travel.

What you pointed out though is why I did not care for it and thought it was stupid as it seemed to be more about redeeming present Simon than the overall story. And I liked creepy, murderer Simon better. There is only one dimension to his character now where as you were never sure were creepy Simon would end up.

What the fuck? Terrible news.
I found season 2 disappointing, so I was already wary of where the show was heading. This just makes things so much worse.
 
To be fair its the writer who gives Nathan those lines, if they can find another actor who is able to be so comical I would be more than happy for them to simply replace Nathan dr who style lol. It wouldnt be as good and it would be odd, but it would be better than losing the character altogether.

To be honest my idea blows, and I doubt the show will retain its charm without Nathan. :(
 
Wow, that's a huge huge huge blow.

EDIT: Seems like Robert was the one who wanted to move on. I don't think that's a great move to be honest. Misfits is an award winning show with good ratings.

This. I would've watched a show with Nathan as the only protagonist.
 
A load of my friends and I were devastated by this news. Will still watch though, with a frown on my face. I look forward to whatever projects Nathan ends up in. A great talent.
 
Well we don't know which powers they've chosen. They might make him go for body-switching or something & let him get trapped in someone else's body, so we'd have Nathan in another body? From a writing point of view, that's a shitty storyline but I dunno, at least we'd still have a shit-talking character.

Goddamnit. I don't think the show is going to be the same without him, but I'll keep watching to see what horrible things they can make the new character say. In the meantime, let's celebrate the majesty of Nathan through a page full of his quotes.
