That was awful.

He could have spawned money. Why go to the casino? He could also spawn a key to get out like Naughty said. Heck, he could spawn a gun or grenade or whatever to get out of jail. Or even a cell phone to make a load of calls.

Yea, I think I'm done with the show.
Spawn money that never existed previously? He'd last as long as people who print their money.

From my interpretation,
it wasn't the power to make things appear, but a specific power related to ideas of magic tricks. That said, prison cell escape is a classic trick, so there's no saying that he can't do that in the future.

That's exactly what I felt as well, but I started noticing it towards the end of season 2 personally. In a lot of ways I can't blame the actor, as his character legitimately gets dumber as the show progresses, essentially becoming a parody of himself while everyone else matures. I mean, he didn't know a six sided die doesn't have a fucking seven on it? It's been a while, but I don't recall season 1 Nathan being that stupid.

It reminds me of that whole gag from Tropic Thunder about never going full retard, which is exactly what the writers/directors seem to be hell bent on making Nathan do. Nathan should be this show's Deadpool sans the 4th wall breaking, but he's gone to waste.

Hmm thats a very good way of looking at it, Series 1 Nathan seemed quite smart, but cheeky. As they turned the cheeky up over the seasons the intelligence dropped. :/ Cant really blame him for wanting to leave.

Just don't go overboard or spawn products to sell? Heck, spawn one or two chips and cash them in. There are plenty of safe ways to make money that way. Not that you would really need much money since you don't have to buy anything. As long as you have a small job to pay the bills you can spawn everything else.

yeah, spawn weapons that will be met with lethal force!
great idea!
fact is, we dont know the limits of his power and probably never will so theres no point in really questioning ig
If he can really spawn ANYTHING he's pretty unstoppable. Spawn a freaking invisible suit or silent concrete cutter to break out of prison. Spawn the keys and sneak out. Spawn a guards uniform to use as a disguise.

Not sure about that. He spawned a flower and a chip. Not necessarily magic related.

Making bunches of flowers appear and coin tricks are pretty much the most traditional "magician" magic tricks you can do without cards.

That's just it: Nathan being able to play it safe/smart hasn't exactly been one of his more prominent character traits, especially more recently (case in point: he sold
IMMORTALITY
for around $3,000). Even after the writers went and cooked up that
long lost brother
story line to [I guess?] help Nathan grow as a character, he's been reduced to his lowest form as an attention whoring idiot who goes out of his way to get himself screwed over. Like I said before, I'm a huge fan of the character overall, but even I can tell where he's heading.

Unfortunately however, most comedic relief characters in a series suffer this fate. For example, Heroes' childish, goofy Hiro Nakamura who spoke almost no English was shown rather early in the series to transform into this badass sword wielding, time bending S-Class super in the near future for an episode. Yet the character never truly takes on that persona in four whole seasons, with the writers instead opting to keep him basically the same except for improving his English skills significantly. Fan service is a bitch. People eat up characters like Nathan and Hiro for all the wrong reasons, and then the show runners roll with it because they know it's what viewers want.

The show has definitely gone to shit. The storyline is completely mucked up now, as is character development. I've lost interest in the show, but might still watch it casually if only for the lovely Antonia Thomas.

First official promotional photo! The show returns October 30th, yay!

Simon is easily the strongest actor of the lot

I'm guessing he's regretting that decision at this very moment.

Have you seen his IMDB credits since leaving Misfits...?

His only current project is a made for TV Movie.

All caught up now and love it. I'm not too terribly sad about Nathan leaving-he has some really funny moments but he was really starting to grate on me.

And I have to say that while I understand the plot device to have everyone switch up powers (Curtis's power was always a safety net) it makes no sense why Curtis and Simon would give theirs up. Those powers have NO downside whatsoever. Nathan selling his was really stupid yes, but it makes sense for him to do so-and get a raw deal on the price too. :)

The first season is available also on the BBC iPlayer for iOS, this just came available for people living outside the UK too. Downloading! :D

oh god. how will they do it without the vulgarity and and a bit of nudity. and gosh. i hope they don't get sam from GLEE to play simon.

It may not have Sam from Glee, but what if they made it into a musical series?

A musical superhero TV series could actually be really cool, as long as it's not Misfits or Glee related.

There's doctor horrible, but I'm not sure that counts...

Did anyone check out the Vegas Baby short, seeing Nathan's departure? Not tooooo shabby, but I'm not feeling the new guy from the short amount of time he was in it for... Oh well, starting soon!
