wonder if they're gonna do shamrock/kimbo or shamrock/shamrock

The only thing that they may be able to market would be the Shamrock/Shamrock but even that would be a midcard at best now.
Shamrock is done and needs to put his effort into training new fighters

it was odd. there was a shot before that rocked him but he didn't go down. then like a minute later he gets hit but Ken was guarding and it looked like the other guy just hit all of Ken's glove but Ken went down...

What is it that makes Ken Shamrock suck so much?

It can't be just age...something is seriously wrong with him.

Words cannot describe how much he sucks as a fighter...it's sad.

Most other fighters in their 40s are doing much better than him.

Did you watch the third season of TUF? He's useless at that, too.

He seems to have all the tools that everyone else has except for the most important one; a brain. He seems to be in great shape, he always looks fast...but his brain always seems to be a mile behind in what everyone else sees as a 100 yard dash.

He's like a powerful computer with a faulty CPU. Sure, it can load the Windows desktop but it will crash once it is expected to perform.

This shit sounds like a work.I really think that all of ken's fights, except the Tito fights, have been works.

Ken Shamrock is arguably one of the biggest names Cage Rage has ever had, wouldn't it make sense to work the fight so he wins?

Especially when they could have built it into the Shamrock/Shamrock gimmick or the Kimbo gimmick.
Shamrock literally looked like he was having a nice dream and all of the sudden woke up to a big assed brit trying to take his lunch money.
He just looked...I don't know..off.
I don't want to say fear, but who knows.

Getting off the subject of a bad HW fight, let's move to a good one. UFC Wired just played the second Mir/Sims fight. I forgot how great it was.

An exciting fight, maybe, but I wouldn't quite call it "great".

Yeah, exciting's a better term. I guess I just perked up seeing a good HW fight, since outside of a very few exceptions there hasn't been much lately. =P

Edit: I guess I also have a thing for fights where you think it's gonna slow to a crawl and WHAM, someone comes through. That Cyborg fight, the Smith/Sell fight.

Glad to see Mirko is back on roids and crushing cans.
Considering he looked softer and slower than in the past, i would think its safe to assume he's clean. He was also covering up like hes never done before when on the defense, which was quite puzzling, especially considering the striking he was defending from.

On another note, Phil Baroni has the gas tank of a 80 year old and Hose has absolutely ZERO killer instinct. Watching him fail to finish a DEAD baroni round after round after round was painful to watch.

They let him out of his contract. But he says he wants to return after 3 fights with Dream. We'll see if that actually happens.

It was an awesome fight if you only watched the 1st and 5th round. :lol

Crocop should be embarrassed and Aoki should get an oscar
I'm not saying that wasn't a blow to the back of Aoki's neck or that it wouldn't hurt like shit but Monma and Dida took plenty of shots to the back of the head/neck. Unless they complain, I doubt they'll get a NC ruling.

Thanks. The last thing I heard about him was that he'd hired an octagon cage for his training room to get used to it (that's what he said was his problem in his last few fights), and he'd start training better than ever before.

How are people surprised at the Cro Cop fight? He pretty much admitted he wanted a few easy fights to get his head back.

Anywho, out of curiosity, anyone know what's up with Ed Herman or Josh Neer? I think Herman has a scheduled fight, but where'd Neer go?

Josh Neer is fighting in smaller shows
Herman will be fighting on the undercard of UFC 83 against Demian Maia

Also, Ed Herman just fought Joe Doerksen in November in a pretty good fight. Sadly, it was part of UFC 78, so no one saw it, except for those of us there live.

Chael Sonnen v. Bryan Baker is on for WEC 33 next wednesday.

Marcus Aurelio v. Jim Miller (in place of Spencer Fisher) for Fight Night 13 in two weeks.

EDIT:

Oh, and Iron Ring, which is BET's answer to The Ultimate Fighter meets IFL (sort of) starts tonight at 11pm.

The competition features six teams and takes place in three weight classes, Lightweight (170lbs for purposes of the show), Middleweight , and Heavyweight. There was no sign of a cage in week one with all the action taking place in a ring. Rashon Kahn plays the Dana White role as "arbitrator" of the competition and motivational speaker, although I seriously doubt Kahn can live up to Dana's "do you want to be a fighter" speech.

The complete team rosters are:

* MONEY MAYWEATHER BOYS
o Owner - Floyd Mayweather
o Coach - Roberto Traven
o LW - Andy Roberts
o MW - Dymond Jones
o HW - Abdelaziz Essafoul

* TEAM LUDA
o Owner - Ludacris
o Coach - Abdul Mutakabbir
o LW - Joe Comacho
o MW - John Fields
o MW - Franz Mendez
o HW - Joe McCall

* TEAM NELLY
o Owner - Nelly
o Coach - Jermaine Andre
o LW - Eric Marriott
o MW - Darryl Cobb
o HW - Mike Cook

* TEAM GRAND HUSTLE
o Owner - T.I.
o Coach - Charles "Krazy Horse" Bennett
o LW - Josh Gaskins
o MW - Primus Moore
o MW - Jamie Yager
o HW - Joe Thomas

* TEAM DIPSET
o Owner - Dipset (Julez Santana & Jim Jones)
o Coach - Novell G. Bell
o LW - Josh Key
o MW - Daniel Akinyemi
o HW - Carlos Moreno

* HEAD BUSTERS
o Owner - Lil John
o Coach - Shonie Carter
o LW - Macrus Brimmage
o MW - Brian Rodgers
o HW - Abongo Humphrey

Krazy Horse and Shonie Carter. Obviously, this is must-watch television. I had heard that Mayweather had to pull out due to his deal with WWE, but as you can see, he's still listed as a team owner

I like this fight much better than the original. With Spencer we'd have probably gotten another snoozer like his fight with Edgar.

Spencer is as exciting as his opponent. He has no ground game, zero. Thus, against the Frank Edgars of the world, he spends 15 minutes being laid on. Against Sam Stout? Match of the year candidate. Against Hermes Franca? I won't go that far, but it was very exciting while it lasted. Even his match against Matt Wiman was good (and included a fantastic finish).

Miller is really strong on the ground; all you need to do is look at his record to see that. Aurelio, of course, is a BJJ guy first and foremost, though he let his desire to stand up get the best of him against Clay Guida. I've already seen a lot of very strong opinions for both fighters in this match, and to me, it's going to be a very evenly contested match on the feet and on the ground. Unless Miller gets the "Octagon Debut Nerves," it should be very fast paced.

Pretty much what I was too lazy too say. Thank you. :D

I just set my DVR to record the BET show. I bet it will be so bad it is bad. Knowing BET, I am shocked they just didn't call the show 'Def Jam Vendetta'. Hopefully the fighting is good atleast.

So there isn't a new WEC until next week? I just got my cable back after a looong absence, so not sure what is new from all this stuff they are showing this week.

Yes there is.

Doug Marshall v. Brian Stann - WEC Light Heavyweight Title Match
Chael Sonnen v. Bryan Baker (Middleweight)
Ed Ratcliff v. Marcus Hicks (Lightweight)
Steve Cantwell v. Tim McKenzie (Light Heavyweight)*
Hiromitsu Miura v. Blas Avena (Middleweight)

Undercard
John Alessio v. Brock Larson (Welterweight)**
Sergio Gomez v. Rich Crunkilton (Lightweight)
Ryan Stonitsch w. Alex Serdyukov (Welterweight)
Chris Manuel v. Kenji Osawa (Bantamweight)***
Logan Clark v. TBD (Middleweight)

*I suspect this will determine the number one contender, because I cannot fathom why else it would be televised, especially over...

**Alessio v. Larson not televised? Does anyone care about Cantwell, McKenzie, Miura, or Avena?

***I saw Chris Manuel fight last year in DC. He looked to have a single-digit body fat percentage at 145lbs., so he should be really interesting at 135lbs. Osawa is a really tough opponent, one of the top 10 Bantamweights in the world by most people's estimations. Manuel trains with American Top Team, and from what I saw of him, he like to push the pace, has competent striking and good takedowns. I don't think he'll beat Osawa, but SHOOTO guys haven't exactly put WEC on notice since coming over, so doubting a guy training with ATT may not be wise.

I just got UFC 74 on dvd the other day (i recently started getting into UFC and wanted to see some of the recent events) and i saw the fight between Renato Sobral and David Heath.

Wow at all the blood :lol that was crazy, and also at the ending where Sobral didn't let go of the choke after Heath tapped, that was pretty low. Has that sort of thing happened much in the past?

I liked the boos he got after it :D

I think i read that the UFC got rid of him after that too?

Good ppv overall anyway.

P.S What other recent ppv's (before UFC 79) would you guys recommend?

In case any of you needed any more proof that fedor is a joke:

Despite the announcement of an agreement last October between Fedor Emelianenko and M-1 Global, the deal was never signed, a source close to both camps told Sherdog.com.

The Russian heavyweight's only agreement with the company -- according to the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity -- came in the form of a letter of intent.

The return of a $1.5 million signing bonus paid by M-1 Global to Emelianenko is the only hurdle to the former Pride champion's potential free agency. That should be remedied this week, the source said.

M-1 Global CEO Monte Cox declined to comment.

Fedor and his management are classless. Dana should give him the ultimate low ball offer.

Look out for the impending announcement of his signing with the new affliction/de la hoya promotion with the added claim that he wants to fight top competition.

UFC 76: Forrest vs Shogun, Liddell vs Jardine, Fitch vs Sanchez, Griffin vs Tavares, Clementi vs Johnson. All good fights. The rest are ok. No real bad ones on this show.

And it will be a non-exclusive 'contract', 'cept you can't fight for Bodog Russia cuz they're the top competition in Russia. So basically, you can't fight for any org that is competing against us without our consent, which is so different from that exclusive ufc contract.

Interesting, i had already tried to order that one when i ordered 74, but it was OOS at the time. I'll try and find it somewhere else.

Thanks :)

They did, but that was the last fight on his contract, so it wasn't the ouster that some folks made it out to be.

So he didn't really get punished at all for that then? I'd have fined him or something, that was a really bad show of sportsmanship imo.

Also, I ordered UFC 76 from another site, hopefully it'll arrive soon :D

MMAweekly's rankings have updated, and they're just as fucked up as before.

Featherweight has some Japanese dude who's 11-5 and I've never heard of at #1, ahead of Urijah Faber.

Shogun is #2 at 205, well ahead of Forrest.

Gomi remains #1 at 155, despite not doing sh*t in a year and a half. Granted, 155 has no clear leader at the moment.

Marcus Davis being in the top 10 at 170 is a joke.

MMAweekly have a hard on for the guys who fight in Japan. The rankings really are terrible though. Has Gomi done anything aside from beat Ludwig recently? No, a quick check shows nothing since he lost to Diaz.
