Wow, what a fight! The rest of the event was forgettable, but that was a hell of a tumble.

Isn't Frank Mir a friend of Cerrone's? He called it for him the whole fight, it was odd. Though I do think it was close.

Mir always does that.

While Ben is a great fighter, I was impressed by Cerrone. Sure he's asleep the first few rounds but a guy who can take punishment like that then come back with the ability to end the fight out of nowhere is unique. Kinda like Nog.

UFC 104 Prelims Bader-Schafer, Hardonk-Barry to Air on Spike TV
Monday, October 12, 2009
by Sherdog.com Staff

A light heavyweight bout between Ryan Bader and Eric Schafer and a heavyweight tilt featuring Antoni Hardonk against Pat Parry will be televised live Oct. 24 on Spike TV prior to the UFC 104 pay-per-view, the cable network announced Monday.

The UFC 104 preliminary bouts will air beginning at 9 p.m. EST/PST, one hour before the pay-per-view starts at 10 p.m. EST.

Spike TV aired a selection of live and taped preliminary bouts from UFC 103 on Sept. 19, which drew 1.4 million viewers and placed second in its Male 18-34 timeslot, according to the network.

The undefeated Bader was the winner of “The Ultimate Fighter 8” and took a unanimous decision over Carmelo Marrero at UFC Fight Night 18 last April. Schafer is enjoying a four-fight win streak, which includes a first-round technical knockout over Antonio Mendes at UFC 93 last January.

Dutch kickboxer Hardonk, who’s 4-3 in the Octagon, will look to rebound from a first-round defeat against Cheick Kongo at UFC 97 last April. Barry was submitted by Tim Hague at UFC 98 last May, his first loss in five career fights.

Other bouts from UFC 104 could also air on the cable network depending on time constraints, according to the Spike TV release.

woot! i will be happy to see schafer, first time for him to be back in awhile. always enjoy good jiu jitsu, hopefully he can use it against a big wrestling retard

Are you kidding me? Free prelims again?
Well, that's awesome for all of you I guess. I will be missing them and if I can't find a way to watch 104 while in the Philippines, I'll be missing that too.
Damnit... Well, I guess the time with my fiancee will be nice, but so would Machida/Rua.

as much as rashad has rubbed me the wrong way sometimes, the fact the called out rampage AND tiki tonight because they didnt go in and check on their fighter is pretty damn cool. he said exactly what i would have wanted to say to rampage, but i know i wouldnt have had the balls!

Jesus christ! Kimbo Slice is getting a second chance wtf! Why was he sticking around the house when his ass got eliminated.
The losers always stay in case of an injury. My dvr didnt record the end of it, hes coming back next week?

Chris Leben, Season 1.

Shocking to see Sims finished with an arm-triangle choke, when Mir couldn't finish him with it.

you see someone LOOK like they get hurt.... but who knows... they have been playing this crap up every week since he lost, so im not gonna give it any thought...

That's it...
I know the whole reason there is a Heavyweight edition of TUF is so Kimbo could get a shot, but if Dana ever decides to do another one, I'm not going to watch it.
I'm gonna keep up watching this season because I want to see Marcus fight and see Kimbo get his second chance, which is what they are counting on from the viewers.
IMO, though, there has not been a single good fight this season. I am incredibly disappointed with this season. Hearing Rampage's jokes has been entertaining, but I'm even getting tired of them.

the only thing entertaining is Rampage. I don't see any of the fighters making any kind of realistic dent in the UFC's heavyweight division. Even the good ones. And it doesn't help that the fighters are boring. Even the house drama sucks this year.

While I never liked the drama being the focus of the show, I would have to assume that is why it has taken a backseat to the fighting, is all the fighters are so damn boring that nothing happens...
All around horrible season...

these guys probably just sit around comparing how much they can bench or what type of HGH is best.

just wondering, I have never been big on sport (well I do like to play it, but not watch it), but watching some UFC it seems quite fun even to just watch it althrough I have no idea what the fuck is going on, what are the rules etc :D

is there any good page/article/something for people new to UFC/MMA to give me a general idea of the rules, whats going on in a fight etc

thanks for the help^^

god this season of TUF suuuuucks.

agreed that there have not been any good fights, zero house drama, nothing redeeming. and we wont get to see Rashad and Rampage face off at the end of it all.

such shit.

I hate that I can't watch WEC on DirecTV anymore. Those are the best fight cards it seems.

i learned the ground game by doing jiu jitsu so i have a pretty good idea what i am seeing there. even after watching the sport for several years now, however, i still dont feel like i can appreciate a lot of the nuances of stand up. anybody can say things like 'keep your hands up' and stuff like that, but picking up details like footwork, a guys timing with his strikes, those are things that 1) are hard to appreciate and 2) are often times not present in the first place.

rampage making ken shamrock on tuf look like greg jackson, he's historically bad, the richie kotite or rod marinelli of tuf coaches

yup. rampage doesnt seem to be the most stable individual either, i'm definitely thinking this season may have played a large role in his decision to leave the sport. can you imagine the havoc he'd wreck if at the finale rashad beat him?

Not all fighters can be a coach, just like in any other sport. So not sure why they wanted to bring him back for another season. He showed he couldn't coach last time. I do wonder if the TUF format will continue.

wow, i couldn't believe how big wes sims was. i assumed his opponent was around 5'10" at the first staredown when they announced the fight, but he's 6'3". The bout really just looked like a takedown and submission tutorial/class. And i agree with pretty much everyone else in the world, the fights this season have not been very good, but that usually seems to be the case for the heavier guys with of course a few exceptional fights.

I've got a rules question for UFC. What are the rules about using the fence for leverage? I don't remember who was fighting, but one guy grabbed the fence and pulled himself so that he could armbar his opponent, getting him the win.

Grabbing the fence is illegal and I think the latest unified rules clarified that using the toes to hold the fence is illegal as well. You're allowed to push off the fence, but any grabbing or clutching is illegal.

Pushing is fine. Grabbing is not. If the fence was a flat wall and you could still do what you're doing, it's ok.

It looks like Dan Henderson is going to Strikeforce. That's quite a coup.

well he couldnt come to terms with the ufc, dana didnt want to pay what hendo demanded, unfortunate, there were lot of good fights for him still in the ufc

Where are you getting this? Last I heard, his manager denied any contract in the works with Strikeforce, and that potential negotiations with any organization are on hold until Henderson gets back from a hunting trip

I wonder how many viewers TUF lost once Kimbo failed. I personally haven't been back since.

What the fuck is taking so long for UFC 104? Feels like it's been forever since I saw Rich get ktfo by a grazing shot.

You're right, it appears not to be a done deal yet. Dana just won't meet his offers and Strikeforce has offered more.

Hendo's one of my favorites so I would hate to see him leave UFC, but he's probably got a better shot at a title in SF than UFC at 185, so best to him. It'd be cool to see him have a title one last time before he calls it quits.

He could rule Strikeforce at 205 or 185 imo. I don't see Shields taking him down and I think he could GnP Mousasi.

when's the last time Hendo has tried to use GNP in a fight? hendo likes to bang and he loads up his right hand in most fights, the only time he works for take downs is if the guy he is fighting is a superior striker

i think a fight with Mousasi would be pretty entertaining, mousasi is relatively untested against top tier talent, so a fight with hendo would be a big step up for him, a win vs hendo would make him ufc bound

someone needs to make an official thread for the upcoming Shogun/Machida ppv

He pulled out the GnP for Anderson in the first round. If he ever fights Mousasi he will take him down.

Arrgh Henderson's arms are not fucking human! that was crazy I thought it was going to just break off at the shoulder and fall to the ground! Great fight though
