Coleman, Nover, and Hague cut. Shock and awe.

Surprised that Trigg and Bucholtz survived.

As for March/April, man I couldn't choose 111 or 112, they are both awesome cards. Really awesome.

Dan Henderson got schooled by Anderson Silva before, i want to see a new challenge, Dan isn't enough.

Dude says he could beat fedor, Dan is crazy.

Sherdog member exhaustively researched top 10 wins at the time of each fight, based on official rankings. Interesting results and props to him for making the list:

the list is based on official rankings back to the year of 1999.
the research took me a lot of time. i just wanted to know which current fighter had the most quality wins, it's not about who is the best p4p or whatever.

a top 10 win counts only when you fight him at his weight on which he is ranked. it doesn't count when a LHW top 10 fighter weighing 200lbs and fights a guy which have 205lbs+

example: fedor defeated lindland/sobral (ranked mw/lhw). it doesn't count because they fought fedor at hw. if fedor would have fought them at their own weight, i would count it.

anderson's ww wins count because he fought them at their own weight.

I want to order a PPV in March or April, which card would be overall best?
UFC 111 without question.

GSP v Hardy
Mir v Carwin

in the span of 10 days there will be 3 UFC events, 2 good free ones and this PPV. At the same time as the strikeforce event on CBS in April there is a WEC PPV event with Aldo vs Faber but I'd rather see Fedor, Hendo and Mousasi throw down for free myself.

nice list. so he's just using any site's top ten? what makes a ranking official? i don't really want to go to sherdog forums.

Right, the notion of anything being "official" just because some website/editor comes up with it is tenuous, but usually reflects accepted opinions in the mma world at the time. So, not the definitive 10 best fighters at any given time, just the perceived value of each win at the time it took place, for better perspective on a fighter's career when it can be difficult to judge the quality of an opponent 5 years ago based on current circumstances.

Man, here we go again. I wanted the Brazilian bloodletting.

Great, shoulder surgery and Sonnen is all cut up. All the other dudes have been exposed. This sucks.

No dice, Chael is on medical suspension until May.

The only real option is to have Anderson fight Chael in Montreal and move the Machida/Shogun fight to Abu Dhabi.

There goes any possibility of me making my way up to Montreal with my Torontonian cousin. I pray it doesn't happen.

Okami just lost to Sonnen
Sonnen just lost to Maia
Maia just lost to Marquardt
Marquardt just lost to Sonnen

Leaving Sonnen as the best MW option. Sonnen's medical suspension is until March, not May, so he's a likely candidate if he thinks he can be ready in time.

Doesn't look good for finding a replacement. Who's out there?

Thiago Silva at 205? He has a bad back and comes off a questionable showing.

James Toney? Too much risk of Silva getting knocked out and MMA looking inferior to boxing.

Okami? Came off a loss

Maia? Not medically cleared.

Sonnen? 1 month to train after medical clearance is awfully short for a title fight. Also, Anderson would have short notice to prepare for a wrestler, which is a classic weakness in his game. Doesn't seem fair to either side.

Every worthy MW who isn't Sonnen just lost to someone except for Akiyama.

I forgot about Okami being in the upcoming UFN though. Hope his fight gets televised, lol

Belfort OUT????

FUCK

I wanted to see that fight so bad

Thats what you get for not signing DAN FUCKING HENDERSON

Chael Sonnen: Suspended until March 24 with no contact until March 9 due to forehead and nasal-bridge lacerations

I think he has already said he will take the fight..

If hes ok with only having a few weeks to train...........but based on what he has said before, he might be crazy enough to do it

Would love to see it be Sonnen especially after the Frank Mir-esque amount of smacktalk he has been unleashing as of late. As it stands now they really don't have many good options to replace Vitor.

I'd love to see silva lebenize sonnen for the amount of smack he has been talking recently.

FUCK yes.

I can see Soares putting up a stink though.

So, I hope I am not the only one who thinks silva will eat sonnen alive?
In a 3 rounder I could see Chael winning, but in a 5 rounder, no way. Anderson will destroy him.

Sonnen is a grinder with a very low finishing percentage. Great takedowns, NCAA D1 champ and all that, but not the strongest standup or sub defense.

So his intention will pretty much be to hold Anderson down for five rounds and GnP. Do I see that happening? Not really. Anderson's not going to do something stupid like throw a SIDE KICK after having been repeatedly taken down, like Marquardt did. He'll pick him apart from the outside any time Sonnen tries to step in. Takedown successes are possible, but Anderson should be able to ride it out and lock him down well or threaten from the guard, get the fight stood up again and improve his elusiveness afterwards.

Anderson via TKO. Vitor was a more interesting stylistic matchup, but Anderson has shown some weakness with wrestlers in the past, so interesting things could still happen.

When is the last time anderson has been really tested?

Nah, I don't really expect Leites redux. Leites was scared to step in and quick to flop over into buttscoot. Sonnen will know he has to be aggressive and push the pace to find his takedowns, that hanging back and "waiting for the right moment" isn't going to get him anywhere. Being passive isn't his style, anyway.

Last time Anderson's been tested? Hendo and Lutter gave him good fights, but looking good on their parts was short-lived.

What exactly went wrong for forrest in his fight with silva. Did he just totally under estimate silvas abilitys at 205? I remember watching that fight with a few friends and being totally shocked at how shoddy forrest looked running after silva, and silva essentially becoming neo for a few mins.

Silva is just a different kind of animal in the octagon.
