i'm still :lol that Efrain got cut.....peace out UFC....Do Bronx and Doughnuts sent em packing...

also, find it weird that Sonnen told the CSAC that he may fail the test prior to the fight taking place.....shit keeps getting more strange.

Who cares. Wrestlers are boring as fuck anyway. If Efrain was more entertaining, it wouldn't matter how many times he lost. They'd keep anyone who could get fans pumped up.

Wildly untrue, sadly.

Paul Daley and Keith Jardine?

(although maybe its not such a bad thing after watching their performances in that Shark Fight event)

Glass Jawdine is not a fan favorite, and they had to let go of Daley after the sucker punch after the bell. Glad they gave Efrain the boot. That guy clearly didn't belong in the UFC after that last fight.

I entered my first grappling competition last Saturday. I've had ~8 months of training, but have been following MMA et al since forever.

I weighed in at only 64kg(141 lbs) and the way they worked out the divisions is difficult to explain, but it ultimately meant that I was the 2nd lightest guy in my group, with guys weighing 4 or 5kgs more than me at the top end.

Rules: Submissions only. 10mins to draw during prelims, unlimited after that. Twister allowed.

My RNC defence against a friend who does amateur MMA:

Fighting for wrist control:

Stalling:

Ended on: 0-5-2

Nerves got the better of me. Didn't gas at all, but felt limp and drained for certain matches (adrenalin dump or something).

...

sonnen is nuts. what a weird story. it's still strange to me on its face they'd let him fight after him admitting he's taking a PED

Vitor is not injured. He is going to fight anderson for the title and the winner of marquart and okami are next.

Good news.

EDIT: Sorry for the double post.

Holy fuck, lots of drama in the last few days huh.

Truth be told, I'm more hyped to see Marquardt fight Okami than I was to see Vitor do it. I think stylistically, Vitor wouldn't have had too much to offer Okami and Okami would just get a plodding decision victory, but Marquardt vs Okami is a middleweight matchup I've wanted to see for quite a while now. I also think fighting Silva would be a better matchup for Vitor as well.

and HOLY SHIT MINOWAMAN VS ISHII

I will go nuts if Minowa gets the heel hook on Ishii but I'm going with Minowa by TKO. Shit, if he could do it to Soko...

DREAM.16 is late Friday night just in case anyone was wondering. Live at 11pm Pacific/2am Eastern on HDNet. It's an hour earlier than their usual start time.

I call dibs on the DREAM thread making privileges for this one, I'm gonna try and go all out. I'm almost more hyped for that card than I am for UFC 119 even though 119 has some great matchups (big, relevant names notwithstanding).

That's still mindboggling to me. What if Chael had won?

Minowa needs to restock his shirts on his website, it's been over a month and the good one is still not in stock.

I'm thinking that "Uncle Dana" knew about it too.

Oh, I'd be shocked if he wasn't at least tipped off.

The whole situation is just a colossal failure on the parts of everyone who should know better.

So far the UFC has pulled off Cro Cop and Belfort from the UFC 122 card in Germany to put them in other fights. Good thing we won't have to pay to watch it here in the US.

Wow, that was quite the dismissal of Cro Cop's PRIDE career there. And of course he still goes on about the Nog bros like they have Happy Meal-bundled black belts. Guess Silva got his win from a Happy Meal huh.

It looks like Chael only gives a fighter props if he's American or something. To go on about Joe Doerksen the way he did, being very aware of how good he is even considering his "speed bumps" and then be intentionally obtuse when it comes to Cro Cop and Wand is kinda weird.

Nah he is doing promos for the UFC by bashing Pride.

BTW for those of you that may not know, Chael Sonnen will be a guest on ESPN's MMA Live show on Thursday 10pm PT/1am ET
Is that for real? Because I know he's been a co-host recently and maybe he had a scheduled one too that hasn't been updated.

Wish I could get odds on Chael's excuse/reasoning, because I would definitely take The Field seeing as how nuts that guy is. But smart money is always on tainted supplements and/or testing error.

Why though, UFC owns Pride.
Its Chael ranting, theres no logic only entertainment.
I like the guy because of that, he is really entertaining to me. :(

Remember how Chael would always talk about how these fighters know better than to talk shit to his face and that he would punk them all, from Anderson to Lesnar and everyone in between?

Go to 3:50 of this video.

Chael Sonned.

Did anyone else get the feeling Wanderlei wasn't just threatening that he would get his ass kicked if he kept dissing Brazil? I got a creepy 'if you fuck with Brazil, your sister is going to go missing' vibe from that conversation.

1. i've always hated minowaman but i'm not sure why. maybe its that fucking stupid arm thrust thing.
2. i have only followed mma for about 3yrs now, but 119 is (personally) the most boring upcoming ufc card in all the time i've been watching it.

Question - Since Efrain Escudero won The Ultimate Fighter he's signed for a 6 figure contract. Obviously he was guaranteed at least $100,000. He only fought 4 fights. So does that mean he just got the standard purse for those 4 fights and then he'll paid the difference (assuming he didn't make 100k yet) or does he just get told tough luck "Deal with it" and nobody is the wiser?

Serra/Lytle is virtually guaranteed not to go to decision. Dunham's probably going to run roughshod over Sherk. Guillard and Stephens will slug it out. Every fight on the main card has a good chance of being finished really, though I wouldn't be surprised if Bader/Lil Nog was 15 minutes of bad kickboxing.

I'm going to bet the UFC puts a clause in there that allows them to terminate for poor performance and other stuff. They wouldn't allow themselves to get caught with having to pay someone out if they sucked or screwed up.

well ufc sure has a ton of positive momentum going into this awesome 119 card :lol

(not really hating on the card that much -- it would make a great fight night!)

Yeahhh... I think I'm skipping out on this one. Not really interested in the fights this time around.

I saw the huge billboard in Times Square two nights ago and for a moment I was pumped, but that quickly faded.

Daamn, SOnnen gone for a year. Vitor is fighting Anderson on Jan 1. Looks like Vitor getting "injured" did him some good.

There may not be a lot of marquee names, but the fights are likely to be awesome.
