But for real, did you guys not hear Diego's post-fight interview? He's got problems.
He just finished getting punched in the face a lot, so I'll give him a break.

oh and alr1ghtstart: what's making you laugh in that screenshot, i don't see it?

lol, bs decision. Sanchez had like one successful take down out of 20 and missed a shit ton of punches. How is this not taken into account more with these retard judges? It's insane.

I know...but this wasn't even Diego being weird. This was actual punchiness.

He was leaking blood from his mouth down to his chest. He wasn't gurgling while talking, that's about as good as we were going to get.

no fucking way. crazy. kampman landed clean punches throughout the fight and stuffed a million takedown attempts. diego charged forward throwing blind flurries that mostly missed and tons of takedown attempts that failed miserably - and one that succeeded but didnt last and had no impact on the fight.

lame.

He's always been like that. That's half his appeal. He's like a quirkier Guida..Actually, I'm surprised the world didn't implode after his staredown against Guida.. Him saying "respecting the honor" is just Diego being Diego. Until a body turns up his basement, I'll keep enjoying it.

Unlike other fighters with strong personalities (see: attention whore Sonnen) Diego's schtick is who he really is.

You heard it.

Yep Dana white the bastion of MMA judging. So according to him Sanchez, BJ and Rampage all won their last fights...........How convenient that all three are popular fighters.

I do think tonight's main event was a close fight but landing a handful of powerful punches when you have been getting lit up by counter's all night shouldn't win you a fight.

The take down should mean nothing as it had no effect on the fight at all.

Fight of the Night: Diego Sanchez def. Martin Kampmann (UD) $60K to both fighters
KO of the Night: Shane Roller def. Thiago Tavares (KO) $40K to Roller
Submission Of The Night: Brian Bowles def. Damacio Page (Guillotine Choke) $40K to Bowles

And the ever-popular Riki Fukuda who Dana said should have had the win over Nick Ring who was in some seldom-watched reality show.

Also: Shogun, who was nowhere near as popular as Machida at the time.

at least that i can agree with and kampman walks away with a bonus

Those are some big bonuses.

Shane "Nate Marquardt" Roller has to be beside himself. I think he only got a 10k bonus on the final WEC show.

Your point is? Both the Shogun and Fukuda were robbed. The three fights I mentioned were not blowouts so can be left open for discussion. My post was more of a tongue in cheek remark but.....

Either way there's not a chance in hell Rampage, BJ and Sanchez all won their respective bouts. I also wouldn't say Shogun was a million miles away from Machida in popularity before their first fight either.

To knowledgeable fans - Shogun was a Pride great and a quality fighter.

To Casual fans - He was the guy who knocked out the very popular Chuck Liddell (pretty sure Chuck was still one of the biggest ppv draws) .

Even bigger for Kampmann and Sanchez. Apparently White loved the fight so much he gave them both $100,000 on top of their purse and FOTN bonus.

“I don’t forget fights like that,” UFC President Dana White White told Yahoo! Sports. “That was an unbelievable fight. That was the kind of fight you saw back in the 1980s in boxing, a classic war. Diego Sanchez is one of the toughest f------ I’ve ever seen, man. It was a dogfight. They both gave every ounce of what they had. Kampmann got a loss on his record, but he didn’t lose that fight. There are no losers when you’re in a fight like that.”

It's Showtime is streaming their show tomorrow for 10 euros: http://www.showtimefights.com/

Here's the card, headlined by Daniel Ghita vs. Hesdy Gerges and including Andy Souwer, Gago Drago, Chahid Oulad El Hadj, etc.

edit: It's on Sunday at 2 PM ET to be clear.

Thanks for the heads-up.

I guess nobody in the marketing department researched the name "Showtime" and "Showtime Fights" to find out what it means in the largest MMA market in the world before they named their promotion?

since nobody has mentioned it and i almost forgot myself just a reminder that bellator is on tonight on mtv2, and will probably be better than strikeforce as it usually is

MAIN CARD

Lyman Good (170.8) vs. Chris Lozano (170.6) - welterweight tourney quarterfinal
Jay Hieron (170.8) vs. Anthony Lapsley (170.8) - welterweight tourney quarterfinal
Rick Hawn (170.6) vs. Jim Wallhead (170) - welterweight tourney quarterfinal
Dan Hornbuckle (170) vs. Brent Weedman (169.4) - welterweight tourney quarterfinal

Promotion-wise, I'll take Bellator over Strikeforce in the long term. Exciting as hell fights and they're a promotion that's built to last, in as much as they're avoid gimmick matchups, making smart signings, and actually building up their prospects smartly.

Damn, Weedman almost gave Hornbuckle a dose of his own medicine. Good round.

It was, and Weedman's now on top so what I was going to say may not matter much, but...how did he give up his back so easily when he got pushed after that caught kick?

I don't know - I think he was expecting a punch. Extended foot lock battles are glorious.

edit: Good fight, 29-28 Hornbuckle.

I agreed with your scoring, apparently all three judges disagreed. Can't really agree with giving Weedman the first round, though he did do good at the end.

"It's a real disgrace to Dan Hornbuckle"--Weedman, on winning the decision.

Shit, I forgot about Bellator. Did I miss anything interesting?

Entertaining Hornbuckle fight with a bad decision, not as entertaining standup fight between two judo fights. You also missed a commercial for a small MMA promotion that Bellator is trying to help out. Some TUF or something. They've got a former pro wrestler starring on their TV show soon.

Is it a TNA wrestler? I saw something about Spike pushing Bellator on their network to try to force Zuffa's hand.

Second time someone has feigned unconsciousness in Bellator.

Masvidal looking great against Evangelista.

Wait, what? The fuck did I miss when I switched over to Strikeforce?

Masvidal does look great, Evagelista has nothing for him that he can't handle. Also, Pat Militich is a much better commentator when he's telling Mauro to shut up.

No, just a joke. The first commercial they showed during Bellator was for Brock's coaching stint on TUF. Looks like there just might be MMA cross promotion between the Viacom networks, which could help to explain why the MTV2 deal was such a good deal in Bjorn's eyes.
