polyh3dron : I totally forgot about the Strikeforce curse.. but i still believe in Mousasi.
Maybe he trained TDD? He has a good ground game too. (Which is kind of useful when you have zero TDD).

I believe in Mousasi awesome striking and technique. -_-

They wanted Hendo to beat Shields with some highlight reel KO on CBS, it didn't happen.

They wanted Fedor to beat Werdum to set up a fight with Overeem, it didn't happen (It was his first real loss ever too, lol)

They wanted King Mo to beat Feijao since they were building him up like a superstar, it didn't happen.
It's amazing that Strikeforce haven't learned from those upsets and continue to promote fights based around just one of the fighters.

I think inheriting EliteXC who put on that whole Kimbo Slice debacle and had him lose to Seth Petruzelli after that horribly ref'd fight against James Thompson is partly to blame for Strikeforce's bad mojo.

Who's fighting?
Daniel Ghita vs Hesdy Gerges
L’houcine Ouzgni vs Andy Souwer
Artur Kyshenko vs Gago Drago
Danyo Ilunga vs Wendell Roche
Rachid Belaini vs William Diender
Robin van Roosmalen vs Chahid Oulad el Hadj

The first fight just ended and it was worth the $14 by itself. Chahid always brings it.

man i totally forgot about mayhem even existing. hilarious that tim USA kennedy called out a dude who just got wrecked by jacare as if beating lawler would somehow "prove" he deserves a rematch, even in that shallow-ass division.

too bad mayhem is apparently in a contract dispute with strikeforce so they are keeping him as far away from big fights as possible (even though he's by far their #2 MW) b/c i'd love to see him beat kennedy again. hopefully he goes to ufc though, get far away from this joke of a division

Just saw the Sanchez/Kampmann fight. Sanchez win by heart never backing up after getting smashed plus the takedown in 3rd.

kampann is sorta the beneficiary of some revisionist history. yes shields was AWFUL in the fight against kampmann but he pretty much completely dominated him. wasn't at all worth a split imo though the sanchez fight probably was

Jorge Masvidal vs. KJ Noons possible for April 9th Strikeforce event

GOD DAMN this card is shaping up nicely.

Still no opponent for DREAM FW Champ Hiroyuki Takaya though, probably because Strikeforce doesn't even have a featherweight division.

I guess they could try to book Hioki but he's probably expensive as fuck right now and waiting on a UFC offer. Sandro is signed to Bellator. Maybe Kanehara, I dunno. Takaya has already run through all of the DREAM featherweights that are available who come to mind.

Strikeforce Curse : Beerbohm by Flying Arm Bar.
Nah they've been trying to build Beerbohm up even though the very underrated Pat Healy beat him so the Strikeforce curse doesn't apply to that matchup. I do know that Joachim Hansen wants nothing to do with the UFC, he's been quoted saying as much many times. Since Japanese MMA is as good as dead Hansen doesn't have many other choices. I guess SF could book a rematch but Hansen got knocked the FUCK out the last time they fought. I have that KO running as a thumbnail on my PS3 and people always comment on it.

UFC 129 Moved Up One Hour; Change to All PPV Start Times Being Considered
The UFC is quietly contemplating a change to move up the start times of its pay-per-view broadcasts one hour, MMA Fighting has learned.

No final decision has yet been made, though a source in the organization confirmed to MMA Fighting that they are "considering the move for all events."

Two sources confirmed that at least one date will definitely be impacted. The change will be in play for the first time at April's massive UFC 129 event in Toronto, which will take place on April 30. On that night, the pay-per-view telecast will begin at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT, one hour ahead of its usual time.

At least part of the idea, according to sources, is to take advantage of the earlier time to attract more east coast viewers going forward

yes!

Yes!

So West coast people have to watch it at 6 pm? That's kind of ridiculous, but I guess they're used to watching sporting events at an absurdly early time by now.

I'd be a bigger fan of them doing this if it resulted in them showing every single fight, since we've got 6 prelims for basically every card now. (2 on facebook at 7et, 2 on spike at 8, and then 7 on the PPV broadcast at 9)

So Dan Henderson wants to fight Fedor and now apparently Strikeforce has approached Fedor and hes interested in fighting him at 205.

http://www.fiveknuckles.com/mma-news/Fedor-Emelianenko-vs-Dan-Henderson-discussed-by-Strikeforce-officials.html

Hmm very interesting.

I dunno.. if Fedor was good at 205, it wouldn't be to hard for him to clean out Strikeforces LHW division, with the exception of Henderson.

Plus I think it would be cool to see Fedor without a gut :lol
DO WANT

If Mousasi had dedicated himself to "training TDD" then he'd have come to North America and spent an extended period of time training with one of the wrestling-heavy camps. AKA, Cesar Gracie, Jackson's, Xtreme Couture, Tristar with GSP.

But I'm pretty sure he's been staying in Europe. Which means he cannot be said to have "dedicated" himself to improving his takedown defence.

Really? I thought it was close at the time.

ya i think that fight was pretty close, i think if kampmann was a little smarter he would have won that fight. shields was so gassed after the first round, that if he kept the fight standing he would have probably won. his fight IQ is pretty dumb, as also evidenced by blowing that fight against sanchez.

and ya fedor vs hendo would be awesome

its M1 we're talking about.. no way they'll agree to 205..what they ment was they'll fight Dan at 205..fedor's weight at whatever he weights in at...Good old Finkelchtein

shields fought like crap don't get me wrong -- i just mean in the sense that there was no reasonable way you could watch that fight and give it to kampmann and you read it now and it's like that was an unfair decision or something. and i'm a big shields hater who would usually be right on that bandwagon

What awesome mental image : Mousasi training with GSP.
I believe in Mousasi.

Who do you think would win, if they fought each other in their primes?

Stu Hart or Helio Gracie?

I would include Carlos Gracie, but I'm assuming the man was always tired, since he fathered 21 kids.

G Sot needs to go to one of them.

gsot is like 33 or 34 years old, the same age as many of the old guard of mmma, fedor, big nog, etc. it's not likely he is going to get any better. he is what he is at this point. a top 20 fighter at 155, he will never be a top 10 guy. it's not like he's a young prospect.

Tickets for Strikeforce's April 9th San Diego event go on presale tomorrow for people who get the Strikeforce Insider email and they go on sale to the general public on March 12th.

Nick Diaz vs. Paul Daley
Gilbert Melendez vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri
Mike Kyle vs. Gegard Mousasi
Shinya Aoki vs. Lyle "Fancy Pants" Beerbohm
KJ Noons vs. TBA
Hiroyuki Takaya vs. TBA

Go to http://www.strikeforce.com/insider to sign up.

I haven't gotten the email with the presale code yet though, has anyone else received it?

Question time!
How long does it take for these events to sell out, really? I thought they were having trouble filling arenas, so a "strikeforce pre-sale" seems a little pointless.

Do you live in SD? Or are you just a playboy like me who flies around the world seeing MMA cards?

Why the hell hasn't UFC 128 sold out yet?
Some of the best seats in the arena are still available. Slightly above floor level, in the exact middle section...I'd buy them in a flash if I hadn't already bought cheaper tickets. I don't get it! It's one of the best cards in a long time and it's a short drive from New York city ( a supposedly MMA-starved market).

If they can't sell this out (without Dana giving out 1000 floor seats at some local Pinkberry two days beforehand), NYC doesn't deserve MMA.

they've even got randy and his scarves to appeal to the brooklyn hipsters WTFFF

1. I'm from LA, I fly to Vegas for UFC events over there and drove to Oaktown for 117. I'll be driving to SD as well.

2. Seeing how stacked this card is and the momentum Strikeforce has been getting lately, the good seats could end up selling fast for all I know. I do know I spent $80 on a 5th row seat when Strikeforce was out here at the Nokia Theater in LA so the prices will probably be much cheaper than a UFC event.

3. A lot of the cheaper good seats like in the risers ARE all gone for 128. I don't think it's very far from selling out honestly, at least in the more affordable areas.

UFC 129 starting earlier means I'll have an easier time getting out of the stadium and catching the subway lol.......might even have time to get a beer at a pub before last call

Toronto is going to have to extend subway hours that night, 55,000 people leaving the dome at the same time and most will be heading right for union station at 12-1am

This means that Vegas UFC events (and west coast ones in general) will start at 3:30pm instead if they go through with making the change permanent. And PPV starts @ 6pm. Too goddam early!

Bah you can always improve aspects of your game, a lot of the older dudes are still picking stuff up.

Agreed.

GSP taught Mousasi all about TDD.... BELIEVE.
Note that this collaborative training happened prior to the King Mo fight. Look at the badges, this was from the Strikeforce: Miami event with Diaz vs Zaromskis.
