f4wonline.com said:Ultimate Fighter Season V, built around lightweights, begins taping in January with Former UFC Lightweight Champion Jens Pulver and former UFC Welterweight Champion B.J. Penn working as coaches. They're doing a twist this season where BJ and Jens will fight on the free TUF Finals TV show. It'll get a huge rating, but why throw away the buyrate? At this point the plan is for the season to debut Thursday, April 5 at 10:00 PM, following TNA.

Bishman said:Am I the only one who knew UFC would be the #1 MMA promotion? Cro Cop in the UFC is a nail in the coffin to Pride.
DD-11 said:It does seem too good to be true. I can't imagine how great the UFC would be. With Crocop, Silva, Liddell and GSP, the UFC wouldn't only have arguably the best fighters in their respective weight classes, but also exciting fighters with belts that actually have meaningful defences. If only we could do something about sherk.
Boogie said:Same thing will probably happen with the lightweight division. They just needed to establish a champ to get the ball rolling. Hopefully Penn will stay in the lightweight division, and we'll see if he really can be a champ.
That would be best, assuming Pride would/could put it on anytime soon.Er, yes. I much prefer this to watching him fight Fedor![]()

Popstar said:I'm just hoping if Pride disintegrates and the UFC becomes ascendent it happens quick so most of the top talent is in one place the way it is/was with Pride.
I also hope the UFC finds a way to adopt Pride rules but that will never happen with the various state athletic commission.
Yeah, sounds like he's holding out for more money like Crocop. Maybe the UFC can hope Pe De Pano beats Arlovski. :/ I just want to see Vera fight top competition, title or no.Schafer said:Thats assuming he even fights Vera, it's very much looking like Vera is not going to re-sign with the UFC.
LAS VEGAS A UFC card planned for April in Montreal has been called off, according to UFC president Dana White.
White had told reporters earlier this month in San Diego that the mixed martial arts circuit would make its Canadian debut at the Bell Center on April 7 with Montreal native and newly crowned welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre taking on former title-holder Matt Hughes in a 170-pound rubber match.
On Thursday, White said the Montreal card was off.
"Fell apart, unfortunately," White said. "There were a lot of different things that made that fight fall apart.
"I'm trying to regroup right now and figure out when we go to Canada."
He said the UFC still hopes to get to Canada in 2007. But it also has it eyes set on England and Mexico, in addition to a full U.S. schedule.
Montreal remains the likeliest Canadian destination. St. Pierre would be a good draw there and mixed martial arts is not sanctioned in Ontario.
White, meanwhile, confirmed Hughes will fight in March in Ohio, although no opponent has been chosen as of yet.
The Ohio card, believed to be destined for Columbus, is expected to be UFC 67 and showcase former middleweight champion Rich Franklin. The Cincinnati native is looking to return to the ring after losing his 185-pound title to Brazil's Anderson Silva in October.
St. Pierre stripped Hughes of his championship belt in dominant fashion Nov. 18 in Sacramento, scoring a second-round technical knockout to avenge a submission loss to the American in October 2004.
The 25-year-old St. Pierre is set to make his first title defence in Las Vegas on Feb. 3 against Matt Serra, the winner of Season 4 of The Ultimate Fighter reality TV show.

ahoyle77 said:Tito did not want to fight Chuck the first time,
and he was stupid by trying to prove something by standing with Chuck.
This time he wants the fight. I dont think he has anything to prove, but to try and win anyway possible.
In fight 1, the standup was actually pretty even until the eye poke occured, and that was with them standing and banging.
Tito's muay thai clinch is vastly improved and could be dangerous in this fight.
ahoyle77 said:Plus I cant stand Chuck and have been hoping for a while he loses the belt, so half of that is emotions talking.
Schafer said:You'd rather see a loudmouthed jackass like Tito with the belt then Chuck? Ugh. Tito's only chance at winning this is sheer luck he flat out doesn't have the skills necessary to take Chuck out.
Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Keith Kizer confirmed today that his agency has filed a petition with U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Services seeking approval for Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic to compete in UFC 67 at the Mandalay Bay Event Center on February 3, 2007. The UFC has yet to request NSAC approval for a potential opponent.

Yes. If you could invest in either company, your best bet is the UFC. They are taking over. WFA went head to head with the UFC and they failed. UFC is the #1 promotion.Munin said:OK guys...I've been away from MMA for over a year, and last time I checked Pride was the superior organization with agile fighters and entertaining matches whereas UFC featured a bunch of buffed up Americans with next to no technique or intelligence. Has UFC changed? And is Pride really dying?![]()
Boogie said:Marvin Eastman. It's sort of a revenge match, because Eastman was Rampage's first loss.
Still, at this point, Rampage should destroy him. UFC 67 really should be titled "Night of the One-Sided Massacres"
