Anyway, it seems Brock Lesnar has been signed by the UFC, although it was safe to assume that something was in the works after Goldberg's comments during UFC 75.

Hey guys,
I've been a member of this forum for over two years now and I've learned a tremendous amount from all of you. I believe this to be the best MMA forum on the Internet. Because I put so much stock in the opinions of the regulars around here, I wanted to give you all a first look at a project of mine called FightMetric. With all the controversy about judging, scoring, and the relative value of different techniques, I think this is timely.
What I've done in a nutshell is gathered data on thousands of matches to see what truly matters in ending a fight. Based on the finishing potential of varying techniques and the proportion of fight endings in each ground position, I've been able to assign true, objective values to every strike, submission attempt, takedown, and position change in the sport, as well as incorporate factors like damage and knockdowns. With the results from a fight plugged into an algorithm, the product is an all-in-one score that measures the effectiveness of a fighter in a match that went to a decision. This is not meant to replace subjective judging or act as a mere counting statistic (like CompuBox), but rather is a comprehensive MMA evaluation tool, with its scores rooted in what thousands of fights teach us about what matters most.
I’ve completed two reports so far, with several more coming in the near future. You can see the first ones here:
Georges St. Pierre vs. B.J. Penn
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=11MU04Z3
Diego Sanchez vs. Jon Fitch
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=2TPY6BX0
I sincerely apologize for the Megaupload thing, the site should be set up pretty soon.
I’m not selling anything, I’m just looking for feedback. If you have the time to take a look, let me know if you have any comments or questions. I’m always looking for ways to make the system better.

That is interesting. Props to the guy for the work he puts into it. I have one major criticism and that is he doesn't score takedowns defended. I know he says defense don't win fights but he scores escaping mount and other position improvements from the bottom which are defensive grappling maneuvers same as takedown defense. And defending takedowns do win fights because they will confer advantage, just see Chuck and Crocop vs grapplers or even Fitch vs Diego. Fightmetric had Diego winning the grappling portion of the fight with Fitch by a decisive margin but I'd argue Fitch looked like the better grappler of the two.Brian Fellows said:Stole this from the MMAweekly forums. Also apparently Henderson vs Ortiz is rumored for UFC 78, which is nice - better than the also rumored match against evans (zzzzzzzzzzz), but i dont want tito in any main events anymore. The event still doesnt have a main event ever since Sherk vs BJ was cancelled.
Well Jenna was a beautiful woman up until she ruined herself. If its a girl and gets titos giant head...Piscopink said:Same here. His main event days should have been over immediately after he was spanked (literally) by Couture.
They should just pit him against Houston. That way Houston can advance in style, and Tito retire with his beautiful girlfriend.

FEDOR COMMITS TO M-1
PRIDE Heavyweight Champion To Headline First Show Under New Ownership
By Loretta Hunt (loretta@thefightnetwork.com)
PRIDE heavyweight champion Fedor Emelianenko has committed exclusively to the new ownership of M-1 Mix-Fight Championship, which has been [/b]purchased outright by an undisclosed American entertainment-related company[/b], according to a source close to the deal who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
Established in 1997, the St. Petersburg-based M-1 held over 30 events under the ownership of Russian businessman Vadim Finkelstein, also the long-time manager of the much-sought-after Emelianenko. Finkelstein is also the proprietor of the Red Devil Sports Club, a facility and team that houses numerous Russian fighters, including PRIDE veteran Roman Zentsov and former UFC middleweight Andrei Semenov.
The source confirmed the new ownership has infused a substantial amount of capital into the organization. Finkelstein and others will stay on to assist in running the company, which will continue to promote under a variation of the M-1 name. The new M-1 will take more of a global stance, and Emelianenko (26-1) will headline its inaugural event as early as January or February, possibly in the U.S., the source said.
On March 27, Ultimate Fighting Championship majority owners Lorenzo and Frank Fertitta bought the assets of PRIDE, only to discover Emelianenko had previously signed a non-exclusive, non-transferable contract with its former owners, Dream Stage Entertainment.
As late as September, UFC president Dana White had insisted a deal with Emelianenko was imminent, though repeated negotiations between Finkelstein, colleague Apy Echteld and the Las Vegas outlet could not produce an agreement to bring the Stary Oskol resident to the famed Octagon. A major point of contention was Whites insistence Emelianenko sign an exclusive contract with the American promotion, which would exclude Emelianenkos participation in Sambo competitions. Emelianenko is a three-time World Combat Sambo champion and ambassador for the sport in his homeland.
Undefeated in 24 fights (including one no contest), Emelianenko is widely received as the worlds top pound-for-pound fighter. The 31-year-old former Army firefighter rose to the top of PRIDEs ranks by besting standouts like Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira (30-4-1) and Mirko Cro Cop Filipovic (22-6-2). Emelianenko submitted 2000 Olympic Greco-Roman silver medallist Matt Lindland (20-5) at Bodog Fight Clash of the Nations on April 14 in St. Petersburg, Russia. He has not competed since.
A formal announcement of the purchase, as well as plans for the new organizations first event, is expected by the end of this month.

Unless of course, that american company is Zuffa..
I think it was frank trigg who mentioned it on a radio show, but gave no other details.Ned Flanders said:I could have sworn I saw this talked about on Sherdog 2+ weeks ago, and it ended up being unfounded (could have sworn it was the same website, too). I'll believe it when I see it more widely reported and confirmed.
And on a side note, I'd love to see another legitimate second global contender emerge to take on some of the remaining top free agents, and challenge the UFC in the US.
We've had two major orgs for years, I'd like to see one org dominant for awhile, at least til the top tens get sorted out.Ned Flanders said:I could have sworn I saw this talked about on Sherdog 2+ weeks ago, and it ended up being unfounded (could have sworn it was the same website, too). PRIDE FC Heavyweight Champion Fedor Emelianenko announced that he has signed a six-fight, two-year fight contract with M-1 Global a new mixed martial arts organization today at a press conference at Marc Ecko Enterprises in downtown Manhattan.
This information was revealed in the media kit for the event, which was attended by Jesse Holland from UFCmania.com. It was supposed to begin at 5:30 p.m. ET; however, delays pushed the start back to a little after 6 p.m. ET.
In addition, the mystery owner of the new promotion was revealed in a press release earlier today and confirmed at the packed New York City event.
Here are those details:
Sibling Entertainment Group Holdings, Inc. announced Sibling Theatricals, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sibling Entertainment Group, Inc., together with Garlin Holdings Limited as Managing Members, have formed Sibling Sports, LLC for the purpose of creating M-1 Global
Monte Cox the long-time manager of mixed martial artists such as former welterweight champion Matt Hughes was was named President and CEO of M-1 Global.
At this time, no opponent or date has been set for the debut of the Russian superstar under the M-1 banner. However, M-1 is searching for a television partner and is eager to stage an event as early as February 2008.
In the next 10 days, M-1 will reveal its stable of fighters who will join Emelianenko on the new roster. In addition, Jesse is passing along news that Emelianenkos contract will allow him to fight in the UFC if a deal can be struck between the two organizations.
Furthermore, M-1 representatives indicate that the winner of the bout would earn a $1 million payday.
Other highlights:
UFC turned down an offer to match Emelianenko up against Tim Sylvia when both were champions in there respective organizations.
Fedor mentioned that his brother, Aleks, was offered a low ball contract to fight inside the Octagon. The goal is to sign him to an M-1 contract as soon as possible.
M-1 will follow PRIDE FC rules for the most part and not include elbows.
Fedor rejects the number one pound for pound fighter in the world label because he hasnt fought and defeated all the best fighters in the world.
More info coming in
The Black Brad Pitt said:Fedor signs a 2 year, 6 fight deal with clause stating a fight with randy in the UFC still possible.
If by the off chance Randy works things out with the UFC, i still dont see the fight happening. Dana would not allow the UFC champion to even risk losing to someone who he cant promote and make money off as a result. Its way too risky to make any business sense.Eggo said:So WTF is going on with the heavyweight UFC belt? Fedor vs Randy for the heavyweight title? Or Sylvia vs. Big Nog/Kongo winner for the title and Fedor vs Randy as a one-off fight for cool guy points?
Thats a big call considering whats confirmed and rumored for the card so far.Brian Fellows said:So far I'm much more excited for UFC 78. Thus far there isnt a single fighter on the 79 card that I really care about.
