Miyamoto: More Remakes Headed To 3DS

I would rather pay $10 for some of those N64 games than $7 for most of the 360 and PS3 games available for download. I do wish Nintendo would lower their prices but I can't say they aren't worth it considering I spent upwards to $60-$70 on some of those games at launch.

I bought Forza Motorsport 2 for less than $5.00 online...

Makes any 10 bucks for an SNES game seem like a ripoff.

SNES game aren't $10.

That is really wishful thinking. ROM dumps with "enhancements" you can expect on e-shop. But if the game has an actual development team and is being reworked. That is going to be retail.

At least retail games drop in price and can hit bargain bins. e-shop / vc will NEVER drop price.
Pretty sure that most or all 3D Classics will be ports - I suspect that implementing 3D and widescreen requires too many modifications to the original code/assets for emulation to be practical. There was a pretty good thread a couple months back about the work involved, and it's certainly well above "ROM dump" in terms of complexity.

I typically play through the whole trilogy at least once a year just because I love the experience. The music, graphics, atmosphere, and level design all just come together very nicely. Even though I know where everything is and how to get there, I simply enjoy the act of doing it. It's the same reason I rewatch movies I love. And like a lot of movies I love, I often notice new things and grow to appreciate them even more.

Other people replay Metroid games to do things like speed runs and low % runs.

I'm not sure why you'd be confused at people wanting to replay Metroid. It's one of the most replayable single player series out there.

I do the same with Resident Evil 4. The game is so fun I just want to play it again. That's real replay value.

More people need to appreciate the apocalyptic masterpiece that is Majora's Mask, but I would hate the idea of Nintendo drastically changing it or making it more colorful.
Um, it's already super colorful.

Why would you do that? said:
No way. 1/3 of F-Zero GX was SEGA's awesome cheesy music.

Nope, apart from the character and credits music (that was cheesy and funny) the rest of the music, the important one, and by important I mean the music in the racing tracks, were a piece of techno shit.
It has the worst F-Zero soundtrack of all the saga, Maximum Velocity OST that is mediocre is probably even better.

Now F-Zero GX with X and Climax music... best F-Zero ever.

FE and MM, I can understand, but AW?

Why do a remake when it's nearly as easy to do a brand new game? It's not as if they had to produce a complex story or clever puzzles... I'd be happy enough with just the characters/mechanics of Dual Strike (with a couple new ones), a new set of missions and a brand new war room.

Redo AW dual strike: add more units, allow more slots to save custom maps, better customization of the maps, increase the 50 unit limit, add the online features from day of ruin. too bad it will never happen :\.

a sequel to Days of Ruin would be better

I actually got Dual strike and Days of Ruin recently. loved Dual strike but having just tried out days of ruin, a bit of a turn off due to different storyline, different characters, etc. still gonna play it though. i might like it if i complete it.

Not Nintendo franchises but it would be awesome to see remakes with better visuals and audio of Lost Kingdoms 1 and 2 and add online multiplayer for kicks.

Baten Kaitos would be fun.

F-zero X with expansion

Sin and Punishment 1

Wario World

Super Smash Bros

Kirby Crystal Shards

Pokemon Puzzle League

Pokemon Snap

There are lot of game I would love to see remakes >_<

I would rather have new games than remakes. Although I'm looking forward to Ocarina & Star Fox since I don't own them at all.

I recall reading an Iwata Asks where it was revealed that the GameCube had 3D circuitry built into it, as they had originally planned to pack the GCN with a portable screen that would be capable of glasses-free stereoscopic 3D. And guess what game was to be the showcase title for the tech?

Luigi's Mansion... I'm not sure how the dual-analog controls would translate to the 3DS --- perhaps a Kid Icarus scheme would work? --- but seeing this in stereo 3D would be wonderful. While they're at it, they can add another floor full of rooms, puzzles and ghosts to round out the experience... or alternatively, a handful of new rooms per floor, to maintain the same blueprint.

And a Face Raiders-style mode where you can flush out portrait ghosts in your own real-life home and capture them with a gyro-powered Poltergust (a.k.a. your 3DS) would be TIGHT. Imagine walking around your dining room, peering through your 3DS' camera, and a Boo slips out from under the table. It could be a fun secondary mode like the Periscope Strike in Steel Diver, adding value to the re-release.

Certainly if they can utilize the Wii Sports Resort assets for Pilotwings Resort, they can translate this GameCube game to the 3DS. Let's have at it, Nintendo!

Any new advance wars would be fine by me. Though I prefer the dual strike COs so I'd rather have a sequel to that but days of ruin is good too.

the difference is now the same people that ragged on the PSP about Console games on a handheld will love the 3DS for the same reason when really it was always a good thing because if you love a game on your tv why shouldn't you love it on the go?
You keep saying this shit, why dont you name names already?

Edit: Also reading this thread i came across OoT screens (was on a media bo D:) but man that looks so bad, everything looks so green, wtf with the radioactive water :/

Good job completely invalidating your own argument in one and the same post.

I'm left handed and it could be said in theory the Kid Icarus set-up already does not work (despite playing the game I don't know as there was no stylus provided). I think Nintendo would be wise to see how that game is received before planning future control schemes.

My weigh-in on Nintendo and remakes. I'd hope they learned a thing or two from the (apparent) failure of New Play Control (basically a straight port that costs more than the game it was a port of won't do).

I've only just read the Miyamoto quote in the OP regarding Link to the Past... although he's probably only talking about a 3d-enhanced version of the SNES game, I'm still kind of hoping he's hinting at more... the scale and scope of the LTTP overworlds rendered with Wind Waker-esque 3D visuals would be insanely awesome.

Aonuma in 2007:

"I have to say though, the first Zelda game that I played and felt potential in was Link to the Past. I’m actually very interested in what it would be like if we remade that title as a 3D game."

Tentatively excited. Give me remakes with effort put into them and I am all for it. Give me something along the lines of the rom-on-a-disc travesty that was the recent Mario All-Stars release..and I will pass.
