Miyamoto needs to go take a seat somewhere.

This topic has really opened my eyes.

How do many Nintendo employees feel about him soaking up all the glory

How much does he earn anyway?

So what your tellin me is that not only is Miyamoto shit, but he's also not responsible for any of the best Nintendo games ever made and has been given a position of power to influence all games at Nintendo? No wonder Nintendo is making shit these days.

Sack Miyamoto NAOW and promote Tezuka NAOW!

You're in luck! Tezuka is taking Miyamoto's place as the head of Nintendo EAD. Now he's the main guy in charge.

Takashi Tezuka is one of those people who is enormously influential in Nintendo, but he has nowhere NEAR the fame of Miyamoto.

Tezuka is arguably MORE important than Miyamoto in crafting Zelda, and just as important in making Mario what it is today.

It's cute you think you've figured out Nintendo's internal workings from this thread of all places.

This thread is a reminder that game players, and to an only slightly lesser extent the gaming press, are largely responsible for turning individuals into superstars and idols. Creating the impression they are god-king tyrants at their company.

Miyamoto has been turned into an icon partly by people who seem to think he personally programs every Nintendo game. And to be fair, partly by Nintendo using him as an external symbol because that's what any company does: it's called marketing.

The real mistake however, is in the public actually taking such things literally. You do not know what Nintendo's internal organizational structure really is, sorry to say. People need a hero/villain. (Especially the villain, when they're busy hating on their favorite company for not doing what they want.)

Nobody thinks he programs every game and why is that the fans are wrong for making him an icon but when Nintendo pushes the same idea, it's just marketing?

Miyamoto has been turned into an icon partly by people who seem to think he personally programs every Nintendo game.

And also partly by his creation of Donkey Kong, Mario and Link, and that his vision with Super Mario Bros had the most profound effect on the video game console industry that has ever been seen. That might also be part of it.

And SMB was definitely his vision, even if Tezuka and a few others helped design the levels, that was clear from the Iwata Asks I remember reading about it.
