Miyamoto promises more aggressive use of IP

New Metroid, new F-Zero, new Mario, new Zelda, new Star Fox, new Mother, new Fire Emblem, new Donkey Kong, new Kirby, new Yoshi, new Kid Icarus

It doesn't sound like Miyamoto is talking about games, so all you people who are leaping at this as an indicator that Nintendo is going to make new games in all your favorite franchises such as F-Zero or whatever will probably be disappointed. He's more talking about the use of Nintendo IPs in non-games - getting them on phones, tablets, TVs, theaters, billboards, theme parks, cereal boxes, whatever - so that children will be constantly exposed to Nintendo even if they're not playing Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo should've been working on licensing their IPs for film and TV awhile ago.
Doesn't directly compete with them unlike mobile and doesn't take away from their resources. Their IPs need more exposure if they are to stay relevant. They just need great partners to make sure it's done well

Oh joy, more of this talk.

More of Nintendo under the impression their ip's, their characters, are what made the games iconic, instead of the other way around.

Whelp, guess I better get ready for more beloved IP's getting shat all over as they abandon the design philosophy that made them famous to make some completely unrelated bullshit with the IP name, then claim there is no interest in the ip when it doesnt sell.

Truth be told, I wouldn't mind a new iteration of Captain N, just this time done more properly and "mature", if you know what I mean. Like on the level of TMNT 2003 or even Transformers Animated.

I always liked this guy's fanart of what a CN sequel could be like, lol.

I cant handle more recycled mario elements. Really hope this will apply to all their franchises.

Edit: incoming mario minecraft clone
Super Mario Craft

Mario Maker probably would be very popular on mobile tbh.
Mr. Miyamoto chimes in on NX. “We are going to be far more aggressive in using our IP, and not just stop with licensing, as in the past.

The first example is Amiibo. We want our IP to better reach more children, and smart devices is just one vehicle.”

damn

More agressive use of their IPs is all I want as a nintendo fan. Big gaming companies should really leverage their presence more after they obtain notoriety.

I'm still mad I can't order from teh Nintendo World Store.

So, Monster Hunter x Animal Crossing, The Mysterious Murasame Castle by Platinum, Super Bash Sisters Xtreme, Captain Rainbow by Katamari creator, and Tingle amiibo when?

Updated OP
By increasing the number of people who have access to this Nintendo IP or video game characters, music and world view, and by increasing the value of Nintendo IP, we aim to further expand the gaming population.

Good hopefully when they say Our IP they mean thing's other than legacy franchises? Also hopefully they put this same effort on exclusive games they make deals for.

Putting that extensive catalogue of soundtracks you have on sale would be a great start!

(Let me dream, okay?)

Edit: wait, he actually mentioned music? IS IT HAPPENING?

This means cartoons and perhaps movies right?

The mind boggles why Nintendo doesn't do this more. Pokemon might not have been as successful as it was without the anime to sell the real product.

No, more like Animal Crossing X Polly Pocket Play sets.

Nintendo Princess Barbie Collection.

Folsom St. Fair sponsored by Tingle amiibo.

Amiibo have been selling. They've been selling quite well.
